I'm surprised that the Ferrari did as well as it did. The 328 came out in '86 and the 996 came out in '99. Not really a fair race - but was fun to watch regardless.

Why would you compare any cars? There is a leaderboard at the end where all the times are posted. They all lose to the F1 car obviously. It's called "having fun".

Looking at the leaderbord, the most impressive time for me is the one from the S63 AMG coupe. That thing has all the luxury and comfort you can wish for and weighs what, 2 tons?, and still humiliates all but the best sports cars out there. Well done Mercedes :D

U clearly don't get it don't you? All the cars under it have a lot less BHP and engine size and cost only a fraction of a S63 amg coupe

I DO get that, but cars like a Porsche Cerrara 4S, or a TVR tuscan or a BMW M3 are purpose built sportscar, where luxury is of less importance (I'm not saying a porsche or M3 isn't luxureous or comfortable, but its just not the main focus) whereas with the S63 it is a high luxury limosine with a very powerfull engine which has to carry a lot more weight. I'm just surprised it is THAT fast :)

Drag Race is easy for this kind of "massive engine" cars. Try to race a S63 AMG coupe against a M4 or a Porsche Carrera 4 in a race track, i bet the time gape between them will be much smaller.

Not sure why anyone would drag race these two cars. The Ferrari 328 is an elegant classic driving machine. never designed to be drag raced. the Porsche 911 is a sports car designed more for the track and also not designed to be drag raced. anyone looking at owning ether of these cars, the the last thing they are thinking about is drag racing...

The Porsche appeared to jump the start (as the time was taken over the distance, finishing first was less important though), the Ferrari was never designed for drag racing, it's dog-leg 1st to 2nd gear shift is a real time eater (it's pretty much a 4 speed [2nd~5th] open road car - 1st is only for pulling away from a complete dead stop, once rolling [even slowly], you do not need 1st gear), and there's a massive age difference between the two cars. Put the Porsche up against a brand new Ferrari 296 and marvel at how much slower the Porsche is compared to the Ferrari!
