I’m all-in on the FF. Unique and beautiful. Not sure I agree with you that this was intended as an F-you to SUVs. Shooting Brakes have existed for a long time. And will hopefully live on.

Ferrari guys are like Bimmer guys... no matter how garbage the car is reliability wise they just glance over it and tell you how wonderful it is. Ferrari build quality is absolutely Italian...ie not good. The PTU WILL go out, not a matter of if but when. The DCT will develop issues at some point. You will get dash warning lights for sure which the fix is always, turn it off and turn it back off, if that doesn't work, change the battery. The Italian fix. They make gorgeous cars, like super models, look great on the outside but underneath their straight up train wrecks. You buy a Ferrari and the cost per mile is HUGE! you get massively penalized for driving it. When you go to sell it there are a thousand similar cars for sale with no miles on them and if yours has been driven at all you're going to take a huge hit in resale value. I will say the FF seems to be the one Ferrari that Ferrari guys will put some miles on so it should be less prone to that problem than most their models. Ferrari guys seemingly stomach quirks I want no part of... Every time my caveman brain thinks, maybe I'll get a Ferrari, I speak with a buddy that has one and I'm warped back into logical thinking, NOPE! It's definitely an emotional purchase. I guess if I lived next door to a Ferrari mechanic and had endless expendable cash to keep it working I might debate it. But I hate that anticipation every time you drive it you're just waiting for the next issue to arise. And this is where the 2% of owners will chime in "Mine has been great, never had a single problem." while the remaining 98% quietly take a step back into the shadow.😀

I actually wanted a FF at one point. But the more I researched and spoke with owners I quickly changed my mind. Then a close friend of mine sold his Porsche GT4 to buy an FF. I tried to warn him but he was actually looking forward to it and it’s quirks. He bought it. And within a day the Christmas tree lights were firing off. 1 month later and had to ship it to LA to get the PTU rebuilt. Gets it back after a few weeks then the DCT starts acting up. Ships it back to LA to get the DCT rebuilt. Down there for a few more weeks and just got it back a few weeks ago. So far so good, but it’s been winter here and he doesn’t have snow tires on it so he hasn’t been driving it much. But now he’s out an additional $25k on top of what he paid for it. You asked what I cross shopped. Audi R8 V10 Gen 2, Mclaren 720 (same thing,reliability scared me off), New NSX, and GT3. Ultimately decided on the R8. Daily drove it for the first 4 years I had it, racked up 41k miles on it thus far and not a single issue outside of a recall Audi had for a breather hose on the DCT. I still have it but recently bought a Ineos Grenadier for a daily so I can keep some miles off the R8.
