I owned my FF for 2yrs and literally used it as my daily driver. I have two kids and it handled everything. I used to put power washers in the back and loaded it with groceries. I think the price is a reflection of 2 things… first the reliability of the PTU, which you noted. Thankfully there are now after market repair shops that can repair the PTU for about $10k which is significantly less than buying a new one. Second is the looks. You either love or hate the shooting brake design. Personally I loved it. With only 2300 made this is one of the best deals across the entire car market. I traded my FF in on an F12 but if you are looking for a practical Ferrari you just can’t go wrong with the FF. Loved every second of ownership.

I used to drive one for a little while. These are great cars and I could say Ferrari designed their best GT ever with this one. Perfect for long road trips (if you like gas stations ofc ^^). The only real problem was the front "gearbox" that works like a river of shit. Apart from this, I was surprised by how it's a relaxing car. Not like the Italia or others that scream "crush the pedal" at any time. This one gives you a nice feeling of just driving to have a break and forget about life. Nice car. Expensive asf at the begnning and when the front gearbox gives you a middle finger, but it's a Ferrari so you know you put your feet in an expensive religion when you drive these red cars... But for what it is I felt really surprised about how good it was as an [almost] daily driver.

$80-90k is a bargain for these. Considering it's not much more than a used GTR with similar mileage and these are basically discount F12's. The main cause for the low entry cost seems to be the PTU (the front power transfer unit). There are now repair kits for under $10k, but going through the dealer for a PTU repair would cost ~$40k. However, some folks at the Ferrari Chat forums mentioned a shop that does a RWD conversion and deleting the PTU altogether, which is what I'd do if I have one of these.

As an FF owner, this car is too much fun to drive to not drive it every day. Mine is still under warranty so maintenance has had no real cost. The common fear of a $30,000 fix for the transmission is overblown. Maybe 10% have had that problem, and now there are $10,000 solutions. I’ve always loved the unique look of shooting brakes. Sure a Panamera is less expensive, but are quite common. I don’t see any other FF’s. I’d guess that here are only 400 of these in the USA, and most of those are in Florida and California. Usually owners have other Ferraris. The going rate in the USA on BAT has been $130,000. For a late model, low mileage FF from a Ferrari dealer with a two year extension on the warranty runs more like $170,000. Every extra 1,000 miles costs $1,000 on resale. Since FF’s are often high mileage, that can subtract a lot. I have been in a Purosangue and the advantage is four doors. I’m 6’4” and the back seat space fine but is the same as the FF. But they are sold out until 2025. This review was good and enjoyable. The title works as clickbait.
@mikeelliott88611 ай бұрын
Finally someone who actually knows what they are talking about. All the comments about the FF being a moneypit are from people who have never owned a car like this, probably never will and are jealous and want to talk shit to make themselves feel better about it. There are companies who can carry out an £8,000 fix on the transmission to stop it from ever going in the first place, and the car is otherwise very reliable.

This car has actually appreciated since Covid. They're also realistically not as cheap as the one in this video. If you want a well cared for example with less than say 15k miles, you're looking at more around $150,000. If you're buying one of these for less than $100,000 then it either has a bunch of miles or there's an issue. Repair work and parts are also quite expensive.

My Panamera is super functional. I literally can put 8’ sticks of trim in it inside from Home Depot and the hatchback you can load up on a Costco run. I would go that route..

Onestly i think the FF wasnt a hatchback but more like a 2 door station wagon like vw did in the begining of the 90s with the Corrado anyway the FF is really cool for what is was

This Ferrari has always been one of my top 5 favorites they ever made. I loved the sleek look of the car and the fact that it retained the legendary Ferrari V12. It was the best of both worlds. You could rip around on a twisty road, but then go pick up the kiddos when you're done and take them to soccer practice. I mean, I guess I get why it depreciated so much in the eyes of the "purists", but I'd buy one today if I could find one for the price advertised here.

@dcarbs2979 well, it has depreciated quite a lot since it was new. Maybe there a some reliability problem to blame regarding this particular model.

That's a shooting break, not ferraris' answer to the cayenne 😂
@BogeyTheBear9 ай бұрын
A shooting brake _was_ Ferrari's answer to a Lambo SUV. Ferrari: "We'll never make an SUV!" Drunken Millionaire: "Well, how about a two-door station wagon?" Ferrari: "Oh, we can do that. No problem!"
@sloankennedy9 ай бұрын
@BogeyTheBear you got it, that's exactly what a shooting break was. A zagato bodied or custom station wagon to use at your country home. Aston martin shooting break, Rolls-Royce shooting break. They all kind of lost their purpose for hunting parties as the range rover did a better job. The FF has depreciated so much because people don't understand its purpose or design. So it just looks weird to most.

Since when is an overpriced, underperforming masserati practical? A masserati is for someone who want to look flashy and doesn't care about getting a good value.

Guys, great video, but I would like just to highlight that FF is a Grand Tourer, and we in Europe love Grand Toureriers, as you can go for a road trip over several 1000 km to French Riviera, or Tuscany, and Ferrari was one of the frontrunners of that era with 1959 Ferrari 250 GT and yes, famous Mercedes-Benz 300 SL. In 1963. they said: The 250GT Ferrari must surely represent the ultimate in modern high-speed sporting travel, or GT competition, and holds today a position similar to the Bugatti 57SC of 1939. In 1962 the GTO Ferrari coupés had a remarkable season of successes in G.T. racing and have become the standard by which any competition coupé is measured, and by steady development [the Ferrari 250GT] has become one of the world's greatest cars. Because we in Europe loved Gran Tours, going in a fast and sporty car over the French and Italian Alps, going to Monaco and San Remo, just having fun. So idea of a useable fast sports car that is somewhat comfortable made a special kind of a category. Today, Bentley Continental GT , as it name stands one of the best examples of that category and Ferrari FF was an answer to that.

The Ferrari FF si genuinely a beautiful car, no doubt about this, it’s depreciated in my opinion by the outcome of the GT4 Lusso, substantially the same but with more appealing design, that’s it.

So I just did a little check, me and a mate went to ELMS at Spa-Francorchamps recently, and we took a 2008 BMW 318i Touring, i just compared our baggage with the liter capacity of the FF, it would have fit, easily. I understand that liter capacity isn't always used to its full potential, but it worked, with margin for error accounted for. A Ferrari FF is just as practical as a BMW 318i Touring, wadda ya know... Also I love the hatchback (shooting break?) style of the GT5CLusso and the FF, they are just so not-Ferrari that I love them!
