Und natürlich Respekt für das straffe Programm in Kanada. Das wirkt ja fast wie eine BC-Ferries Gesamtbereisung. Ich träume ja immer noch vom Alaska Marine Highway System...

great video...just did this crossing a few days ago. if you arrive early enough you can walk to a pub in the middle of the forest to the right at the terminal called the stonehouse pub

Traumhafte Reise, interessante Fähren (die mich irgendwie an ältere P&O Schiffe erinnern). Die Passage gleicht in Teilen ja den Stockholmer Schären. Was hat es mit dem Sichern der Anker auf sich? Ist das ein Back-up System für Notbremsungen in den engen Seewegen?

Auf Revierfahrt müssen die Anker klar gehalten werden. Das gilt auch für den Active Pass, nachdem es hier Unfälle gab. In der Eisenbahnersprache würde ich das am ehesten als Schnellbremsung bezeichnen. Ansonsten: Danke für den netten Kommentar 😃👍

The New West, a vessel that I fear will be given up on halfway through her refit. After she sheared one of her screws right off the prop shaft late this summer, they pulled her from service, she’s been in refit ever since and I sincerely think that BC Ferries will pull the plug on her as it may be too costly to bring her back. She’s an aging ship, and unfortunately was not maintained as highly as she should’ve been in her later years, most likely due to the fact that they thought the new major vessel procurement would’ve started by 2023, not 2029. Other than the Coho and I believe some Alaska Marine Highway ferries up north, she is one of the last Spaulding designed single-ended ferries in service. She’ll be missed when they do retire her.
