No coating, really on a matte finish? Is matte by definition meaning no clear or epoxy finish?

Good question and the answer is yes or no. Unlike glossy finishes, matte coats cannot be polished or waxed. This will change your matte finish by adding gloss and creating irreversible shiny spots. Applying a non-glossy paint guard to help prevent UV damage, staining and etching would work best. If I was to do a matte finish, I would definitely add protection to it. I just don’t think it was done on this particular guitar. 🐀

On that first model, they only used medium size frets and not jumbo. From what I understand, their models going forward were replaced with the jumbo frets.

Much easier way to fix it. Take the screw out. Take a toothpick put it in the hole snap it off. You can glue the toothpick if you want to screw it back in place. Easiest and fastest way to do it.

@@rogerledoux4741 Brian May used wooden matches on the back of his guitar neck due to wormholes that he had to fill. In comparison, I use toothpicks on small holes but when I’m building a guitar and the holes were drilled for the wrong spot I fill those in with dowels, glued in and then cut off and sanded. @rattyguitars yep that works. In this case, I was talking small holes for the pickup covers. You can use them on tuners holes also.

I got mine about a week ago. I noticed that if you look at the instrution book the book says that the tone knob. Labeled #15 is supposed to be a push pull tap coil switch but it is not. I got mine during a sale and with a gift card of $25 so I paid $123 for mine and other than the minor blemish on the end of the head stock its great!

This company, and I can’t speak for others, have made a few misrepresentations on this guitar. That’s why I really tore this one apart. I’m even doubtful if that’s real purpleheart wood on the neck. Question: with the tone turned to the high end , and when you turn on your amp, is there a buzzing noise?

You may have chipped the paint by cutting the strings off with tension still on them.

Whenever you buy a cheaper guitar, you need to check the neck with a fret rocker and notched straight edge. You need to use a fret file and 6" sanding leveler.

Tools I wish I had. But unfortunately, I plan on retiring to Vietnam in six months so if I do anything, I’m gonna have to get my tools over there. I don’t really wanna buy anything more while I’m still here in the states and have to travel with it. But thanks for the input! 🐀

Fesley: Over-priced and overrated. I bought an IYV IP-350 for $137(no case) free shipping at Amazon. My neighbor has this Fesley, and it's not even close. He sent his Fesley BACK, got what I got!.....speaking of a "cool look" for your kid, the IYV is the ONE in transblack!

The funny thing is the IYV guitar is made in Vietnam. My wife and I will be retiring there in about six months, permanently. I will have to see where this factory is and request a tour.

From what I understand they are sold out of the older model. The newer model should be released in March. At least this is what I have heard from the company. It’s better to wait because it will have the new fixes on it.
