@andwestuk5 жыл бұрын
@@emopenguingames2895 Nonsense . None of the cars are restricted on speed at all. They're geared to get up the course as fast as possible. Michael Schumacher's Benetton F1 was beaten by an old Bugatti because a woman was driving it. Was Nick Heidfeld's Mercedes F1 car that holds the record restricted. Of course not. Top speed is not required at Goodwood by any car so all the cars will be geared more for acceleration. You have totally misunderstood the meaning of restricted. All cars are using their full power

@THESLlCK5 жыл бұрын
Rourke Hikari they could do the same for electric. After all, the electrics are better at accelerating, so they should make a shorter track with less corners to make them more suited for electric.
@yummyhershey59025 жыл бұрын
Nate F wait, so you’re not allowed to add a gearbox because there’s no rev limiter? That doesn’t make any sense. Every production EV still has a maximum RPM for each motor. Like I said a good example is the Concept 2, or even early Model S cars from Tesla. Some models had a second gear for more efficient highway cruising. Electric cars don’t use gearboxes because they’re less efficient than direct-drive. If they wanted to, there’s nothing stopping them from doing so.
@yummyhershey59025 жыл бұрын
Nate F And I guess the comparison wasn’t very logical in the first place considering that both cars have separate purposes. The point still stands that electric motors have a ton of torque that’s instant. A WRC car has a top speed of about 124mph. That’s a 43 mph difference than the ID R, which has about 680hp compared to the 600hp of Rally Cross cars. Even though the rally cross cars would accelerate more quickly on better tires, they still do so with a gearbox and still have a lower top speed. It’s still not much of a valid comparison but it does show that electric cars still produce a lot of torque. The ID R could accelerate more quickly with a gearbox, but it would cause the car to lose range.
@paulhope34015 жыл бұрын
@@yummyhershey5902 Yes, it has to be for efficiency as you say. I suspect if/when we make some big leaps forward in battery energy density we might start seeing them.
@yummyhershey59025 жыл бұрын
Paul Hope for performance cars we probably will. Batteries are the largest caveat to producing electric cars. They’re much slower to recharge, don’t discharge evenly over the course of a cycle, they need replacing after so many cycles, and they’re not nearly as energy dense as a liquid fuel. One those are mostly improved, electric cars will be objectively superior in almost ever way (unless gasoline cars make some huge leap within the next decade).

Something to be considered in regards to this beating the previous time set by a F1 car. The ID-R was purposely tuned for this lap. Nicks car was in fact pulled from storage for the most part and he was fighting the car heavily which can be seen by the dodgy behavior the car exhibited up the hill. It would not be an exaggeration to say that the car properly set up like the ID-R was it could shave near 2 or more seconds from that time which is essentially obliterating the ID-Rs time.

Max Power shaving 2 seconds off of the 41.5 would put it at 39.5. During practice sessions the ID R ran a 39.9. Both cars are pretty damn quick.

Guys at 36:05 thats not a Monte Carlo, just thought you'd wanna know but it does say Chevy SS on there, you'd recognize it as a Holden Commodore.

This is always awesome but the fact they always change camera and still have the sound come from the previous camera is appalling... Just my thoughts.

Whilst this year's shoot out was okay, it needed a Justin Law, Kenny Brack, Rod Millen, Mike Skinner, Olly Clark etc to spice it up a bit

The old boy who drives the Ferrari 330p (or similar) was badly missed as well. He's just fantastic. I thought I saw his car there at Goodwood but maybe it wasn't his...
