Only issue i have with the one i have is it is too quick to go to into sleep mode, only if that could be change. Have mine mounted into a mft, wish there was something that would cut the tape instead of having to cut it before hand, just for production.

No problems Robert and I am sure that the Festool chap understands exactly. I think the problem is with so many small and medium sized companies is that they have to try and keep their costs down and cannot afford to have a member of staff spend 2 weeks working on just one product. I am happy to do this sort of thing provided the product is good enough for me to recommend to my very best friend. For me it is about helping other people and giving something back. Cheers. Peter

Hi, I like your I just bought my Conturo. Is it necessary remove the EVA adhesive after any job, or I can leave it inside?

Hi Giovanni, As far as I remember the adhesive can be left in but I am not sure for how long. Check with your local Festool rep or the dealer where you bought the machine. Peter

Hi Tim, Yes it does. I have seen a video and it is probably covered in the "Perfect Edge" book. I think you have to get as close as you can, let the remains of the edging pass through the Conturo and put it to one side. You then cut the edging to length and use an air gun to re-melt the glue and push the piece into the corner. It all looks pretty easy and, like all things, practice makes perfect. Peter

Festool only gave me enough edge banding to do the short demo. The machine then went back and so I have no idea. Do they state what is expected? I think it will depend on the width of the banding being used. Sorry to be unhelpful. Peter

Wow, this is the most detailed video of Festool Contura KA 65 on youtube. My query is can we apply .5mm strip on it. I have read some reviews where they say that the heat and glue messes the .5mm strip

It seems a fine machine but handheld edgebanders aren't exactly a new thing. What sets this apart from a Virutex for example who have been producing such units for a while now? The price point and being locked in for consumables doesn't seem worth it. Granted the cleaning of glue pots is a pain but glue granules are dirt cheap.

LoneRiderz I can't remember if I say this in the video but a while ago I worked for a company making equipment cabinets and I was using an old fashioned edge bander almost every day. I would have given my eye teeth for the Conturo as it would have saved a lot of time, frustration and effort. At the end of the day you just turn the Conturo off and turn the lights out. At the start of the day you just turn it on and within 5 minutes you are edge banding again. The Conturo is very easy to use - I had no practice goes whatsoever in making this video. I had never used the machine before and I was only given enough banding material to produce the work shown in the video. That shows just how easy it is to use. Time is money and the cost of the consumables is insignificant when productivity and quality of work is taken into account. Then add on the ease of use and the feelings of the operator and you will see that Festool have the perfect solution to portable edge banding. Peter

Very expensive in South Africa at R 55 000!! on sale (normal price R68k). I can buy for the same money a reasonable secondhand car, or just get it done at a cabinet shop for cheap. It might be 2/3rd cheaper by direct importing, but still a lot of money.
