Use pizza cutter sharpened. Get the catering 6inch ones and it cuts up to 120mm no problem. Do dust at all

Good video. To be honest any builder who is doing this work, investing in this tool is a no brainer in meeting the insulation performance standards and improving productivity. The total labour input into this aspect of the build is huge and if this job saves 10% of the labour input then it is worth it, and that ignores the reduction in mess and waste. Thanks for posting.

Thanks Billy and although we can’t complain I’m just saft when it comes to buying tools. But! What I can say is it is very much worth every penny and very accurate 👍🏻

It's more that with a system like this, when you're working big jobs - you can't afford to do without it.

will it cut angels. Say a flat roof going into a pitch roof

Hi ya mate Merry Christmas. The base is fixed so it will only cut square cuts however I cut my angled insulation on the loft free hand and it worked perfect. I have seen people make angled sleds but that all seems a bit too much

Of course there is and I bet it costs a fortune as well. However, they know what they are doing and know that people like me will go out and buy it 😁👍🏻

all i remember is that the rockwool blades are extreeeemely sharp. I tore my hands up just changing them, beware!

Do your best, foam the rest. I hate doing this insulation especially when I only have a handsaw to do it 🤣

Hi Harry you and me both but glad I invested in this saw. It’ll be used again in three weeks or so when we start insulating the extension roof. Thanks for watching 👍🏻

Good stuff mate and cheers from Aussie land. We're renovating our house and have to cut 280 m2 of wood fibre panels for the roof and then something like 500 m2 of wood fibre batts for the wall insulation (closed cell spray foam under the floor). I'm buying one just for this job (my own) and will then sell it. Even if I only get 50-60% back, it'll be totally worth it. Cheers and thanks - Dave

is the dust collection any good ,that is the worse job on any building project real ball ache

@mrabuilders6723 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Thomas. I found the dust collection to be very good despite the Metabo extractor I used to be by no means the best on the market either . As you can imagine there was some underneath the board on the floor but that is to be expected. It made a horrible job a lot more bearable. Thanks for commenting it’s very much appreciated 👍🏻

@@mrabuilders6723 just before i buy it... do i need an aditional blade? i would buy the basic kit as i have batteries with the sds drill so they will work on that too
@mrabuilders6723
@mrabuilders6723 Жыл бұрын
I did purchase the board insulation blade as an extra. My kit only came with the rock wool blade. About £60 I think 👍🏻

Ok as I will be cutting 100mm sheets to go under a floor. Don’t massively need a tool to cut rock wool but it would be class to have a tool for cutting pir

I probably won’t use the rock wool blade either but my conspiracy theory is that festool know that so you’ll have to buy the PIR blade as an extra. Hope your job goes well mate 👍🏻

It looks like a good tool for a sh!t job. Did you mention the cost of it? Must be North of £500 knowing Festool.
@mrabuilders6723
@mrabuilders6723 2 жыл бұрын
Hi JRS. I didn’t mention it but you are correct with your assumption. It was just under £570 including buying the toothed blade for the insulation we are cutting. It really is worth it and I’m glad we have got it. Cheers for taking the time to comment 👍🏻

Helpful review thanks, seriously thinking of investing in one. Just one question why are your noggins 400mm they should be 355mm for 400 centres!? Looks like a decent job though and far superior to 600mm centres.
@mrabuilders6723
@mrabuilders6723 2 жыл бұрын
Hi and thanks for commenting. 400 centre was specified on the drawings but for C16 timber but we used C24 which more than covered the increase in centres of the rafters because we knew that to get the most efficient cuts out of what is now stupid cost of rigid insulation boards we would be cutting multiples of 400mm wide boards.Giving us more cuts per board with next to zero waste. Although this tool was an expensive purchase it has proved to be worth every penny as you would have seen by the quality of the cuts we used for our build which I hope you agree from the evidence in the video. 👍🏻
