If I can help. What I would do when you need to sheet up in kitchen etc. I would use the plastic sheets that used for paint spraying. It is usually blue in colour and it has a tape on the top and it can stick to the Cornise and the large one will reach from cornise to floor. I hope it helps, you’ll probably tell me to walk across motorway, but it’s meant well. Take care from Colin the retired decorator 🤠🤠🤠
@Mr_A_BuildersАй бұрын
Not at all Colin. We will always accept advice from people who wish to offer an opinion that could help us work better or more efficiently. We often say what we do may not be the best way it’s just the way we do it. I do like the zip wall system and use that a lot but it was tight in that utility 👍🏻

Great job Rich. It’s a lot of work to take the concrete roof off, but if I was the homeowner I would’ve had to do it, ceilings being all level with no bulkheads, makes such a big difference. Probably not economical I know, but my compulsive self would’ve had to.
@Mr_A_BuildersАй бұрын
The customer and I had many discussions about that and agreed that the benefits of removing all the concrete wasn’t worth it. I agree that it would have been great to have a roof all level outside but another contributing factor was that the window on the side is lower than the window on the rear so it was a non starter regardless 👍🏻

Great work again, there are always many ways of doing jobs so i am not judging. Maybe it was in fast forward but i missed seeing expanding foam of any type used. Just saying Does anyone know why expanding foam was originally invented for ?. Now doing work in landlord properties (many high rise) taking fire doors & frames out to remove foam infill or silicone . Then install putty intumescent barrier & possibilly a cavity closure if needed. Also doing windows, take them out remove foam of any colour,excessive silicone . Fit cavity closers,infill with intumescent material then refit windows. foam from a can, what can ga wrong.

Great videos lads. Love the updates every Sunday. Rich what do you use to attach the frame to brick?

I used concrete fixings. I love these fixings and are a good alternative to traditional plug and screws. 👍🏻

Hi guys, after seeing that concrete roof. I just wondered if you have ever come across concrete floors upstairs? My brother in law has brought a cottage built in the late 1800’s and after pulling the carpet up upstairs. He has found the whole upstairs has got concrete floors with no rebar in it?
@Mr_A_BuildersАй бұрын
Never experienced that Barry and I hope we never do. 👍🏻
@amazing451Ай бұрын
Hi Rich, the padstones you used for the steel to sit on are they just concrete blocks with a high crush value or did you guys cast them? Do you have to have the BC inspect them once installed?
@Mr_A_BuildersАй бұрын
Good Morning. They are specific pad stones with PAD stamped on them. The Building inspector will generally like to see them and don’t forget if you need to pack them you need to use metal shims which you steel supplier can supply for you. 👍🏻
@PertinaxPertinaxАй бұрын
Richie - what has happened to Adam's regular Wednesday eve video? Could'nt see too clearly but assume the RSJ spans inner and outer leaf? or are there two steels?
@Mr_A_BuildersАй бұрын
Adam is back on Wednesday this week with an update on the Bungalow build. The steel spanned both inner and outer leaf and weighed a bit hence the steel lifter. 👍🏻
@paulf2529Ай бұрын
The excessive speed of the timelapse footage from 11:25 to 11:46 left me feeling slightly giddy. Farr better to slow it down. The job is coming on well. Personally, i would sooner have pulled down the concrete roof.
@Mr_A_BuildersАй бұрын
Settings have been changed now it was user error and the concrete roof coming down had no gain especially as the window on the side of the house is lower than the rest so it couldn’t have been the same level anyway. I’m not overly happy with it not being the same level but sometimes it is what it is. 🤷👍🏻
@cliff4wdАй бұрын
The resolution of the time lapse is poor. Maybe set it for better HD if you can or return it! 😊

Got to say that time lapse camera is arse. All its doing is taking still images, the seem super soft and low res, pretty sure a GoPro would be better.
@Mr_A_BuildersАй бұрын
The majority of our Timelapse on the channel is a GoPro or phones but it maybe the way I’ve set this up with the intervals behind to far apart. Lets hope it gets better 👍🏻
@m0nk3yl0v3rАй бұрын
@@Mr_A_Builders Its the quality of the image from the camera itself, nothing you guys are doing i wouldnt imagine.
