It’s not missing the point it’s overlooking the point. It’s like if the video was about the choosing the best blades for clean cuts, and someone commented ‘just tape your cut line’. Some ppl’s resourcefulness in a given situation are through skill/knowledge and others are through money. This is why we all have the same potential for great wealth and abundance if we can operate from the appropriate context.

I use this tape trick all the time as a guitar builder. It keeps new router openings from tearing out, if I'm drilling holes for a bridge it will keep the finish from flaking out, and it provides a great location for guide markings. Draw lines, crosshairs, or tape on the guitar, tape on the template, and then a quick spray of contact adhesive on the template tape, press the template in place, and it will stay in place much easier with less clamping force.

I always use a down cutting blade but you must turn off the pendulum action. These blades are purpose made for cutting Melamine and Formica bench tops and are incredibly sharp. THEY DO NOT LIKE TIGHT RADIUS BENDS. I have cut a swept bend and then “sneaked up” to the original line with a second pass after the waste has fallen away. Regarding the thicker boards like butcher blocks, they create problems with blade drift which causes the cuts to not stay perpendicular. I have yet to learn that skill or to find a better blade. Perhaps a bandsaw would be better for thick stock
