Within the Ivalice Timeline, Final Fantasy Tactics comes after an unnamed catastrophe(s) wiped out the non-human races in Ivalice. Next is Vagrant Story, which takes place after an unspecified era after Final Fantasy Tactics in the Valendia region in Ivalice. We know Vagrant Story takes place after Tactics because the Orlandeau Gem in Lea Monde is said to house the skeletal fragments of Cidolfus Orlandeau, one of the recruitable npcs in Tactics. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is the next one in the timeline and shows a present day (modern) Ivalice, but the events of the game takes place in a dream version of Ivalice based on the 'Golden Age' shown in FFXII. This was a great song to add to this particular scene. One of my favorite overall singles to a FF game passing even Faye Wong's classic. フランちゃん愛で隊隊員一号 ある意味で空気とは確かに言えるけど、それはヴァンというキャラクターがどういう立ち位置の人物なのか、どういう役割で描かれた人物なのかというところを考えると少し違う。 この世界でいう歴史に名を残す表舞台側の人物、アーシェやバッシュ、ソリドール兄弟… はたまた自称するだけあって活躍も葛藤も十分に描かれる、本来であれば主人公側に回されるキャラであろうバルフレア…。 そういう、歴史を動かし世界を救った表舞台のヒーローキャラクターを陰で支え、一緒に歩んできたのがヴァンというキャラクター。 歴史的に名は残らないままの人物なのがヴァンで、庶民で政治には無関係で世界のこともよく分からない、ただ家族との平和な日々が大切なだけの素朴な少年、立ち位置としてはプレイヤーに一番近いのがヴァン。 ヴァンはそういう主人公。FF12の主人公はそういう役割。

FF13 had a pretty hard learning curve for me. I had a hard time figuring out how to stagger and even when I somehow did it, I didn't get how to keep it up. Couldn't I just mash buttons 100 times in a row to keep it that way? haha.

RPG game especially Final Fantasy are supposed to have several city with unique design on it's own, meet with several race/tribe, talk with NPC, do minigames/race, and good storytelling (not cramp a lot of important information into Bestiary). The only thing I like about 13 is the soundtrack.

Its really not so much a heroic epic saga more so than a band of individuals with different end goals banding together to defeat a common foe. Much like in FF6 where Kefka eventually was their common enemy however they all had different reasons to meet.

I think FF12 has so much hope. My life experiences explained everything once I thought were unexplained in the story. Been more than 15 years since the original release but it keeps growing and growing. Btw I think Vaan shared our (players) point of view: meeting Princess we never knew and coming along with the team out of excitement!
