Sephiroth was supposed to show up earlier in the story, but after the developers watched Jaws (no I'm not kidding), they liked how you didn't get to see the shark until later on in the movie, adding to the suspense of even knowing what the shark looked like. So they changed some aspects of FFVII to have Sephiroth appear on screen later in the game, after President Shinra was murdered with Sephiroth's sword in his back.

It's very clear that they felt the flashbacks that soon into the game would have distracted from you getting to know the characters and I'm glad they didn't do it. FF7 already has one of the most frontloaded RPG intros ever, the last thing it needed was even more haha.

I disagree with FF7 having “one of the most frontloaded RPG intros ever”. You are thrust straight into a high stakes mission from the get-go and the pacing of the entire Midgar session doesn’t let up. FF7 is often used as the counter example against games that frontload so much to show how it ought to be done.

The part where Cloud and Vincent are talking and an image of Sephiroth superimposes over the scene, gradually drawing closer to the camera while turning his head to glance at the player, that was a really cool effect. They definitely should have found a way to keep that.

I like the Honey TV channel thing, that's really cool and a great way to show off a variety of future places and events, but more likely, a little something for re-players to reminisce over a long story pretty early in the game. Good job with the vid my man 👍

My favoutite videos of Shademp are those which shows how many npc have "hidden" texts only becasue the game at the moment doesnt allow player to reach them. And which makes me really sad, I remember the times when youtube had this sticky notes system which Shademp used for explaining in his videos, which are now basically a lost media now. Also, the shared flag on Aerith Ghost and Nibelheim Innkeeper might suggest the Aerith church scene was more complex and then the number was reused for the innkeper lol. Also, I think it's the only part of the game when the initial and correct character positions are broken so the npcs loads in the middle of the room, expect reno, and then are shifted to their correct positions. It all suggests they were working on the scene but for some reason they scrapped it and did last minute clean up, but the ghost remained. Also, you can also revisit the Aerith final scene, with the blooming blossom playing and the altar cutscene map is traversable, but it seems they decided to use the fish at the last minute to block revisiting. I don't remember which flag it is, but the extra scene with Barret at Gongaga also is sharing a flag with other random scene and it's easy to miss. I always wondered if there are more cases like that.

Even though Last Elixir production made a whole video on just the early Sephiroth reveal, I find it nice you made a new video with new details. Even though what got me to click what that ‘cut’ sephiroth scene. I say ‘cut’ because in my head canon, considering it was last minute, it is probably possible it was cut to make room for more time for Cloud, Tifa and Barret to ‘breathe’. Both the early reveal and the Kalm reveal work for me. It was cut for making Sephiroth seem more terrifying and it fits…Even if it is not something I would have cut. Good job! I hope if you know that channel you two can collaborate. I wonder if the 7 source code hides more secrets like that Fusion Dance lmao 😂
