The most epic part about this scene is how even though Lindblum was literally eaten in half just a few weeks ago and totally obliterated, they still came back strong with their airships. Badass city.
@Eat_shit--die_mad3 жыл бұрын
I mean only a third of the city was destroyed but ya it was bad and they still had the fire power
@andrewgause69713 жыл бұрын
It's also a terrifying demonstration of *why* Brahne wanted the Eidelons before she took on Lindblum. Those dragons would be more than a match for Alexandria's soldiers, and the Lindblum battleships are tearing through them like a hot knife through butter. Can you imagine what that fleet would do to Alexandria's conventional forces?
@EpicGamer-fl7fn3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewgause6971 yeah im surprised no one is mentioning this. Alexandria was definetly the weakest kingdom on the continent, with practically no actual backbone to support their country with. Burmecia had the grotto, A giant sandstorm that acted like a natural defense against any airships coming through on top of having pretty strong dragon knights. Lindblum practically dominated the continent with its surperior Airship technology and a city that is way bigger than we even think. Its kinda sad infact that we only visit a fraction of it because on multiple shots during cinematics we can clearly see just how insanely huge that city actually is. Meanwhile what does Alexandria have? all they have is a farm and two big cities, both filled to the brim with lazy Nobility, while the poor people are trying to get by either by stealing or working their hardest. I think its no coincidence infact that Alexandria and Treno have the most nobility on the continent, while in Lindblum you can see that this whole "class system" doesnt exactly exist there. Not only she wanted to get eidolons before going against Lindblum, she also needed Black Mages to even stand a chance against dragon knights and soldiers of Burmecia. Brahne got way too greedy and confident the moment she saw that she could obliterate a mighty city like Lindblum by just summoning a giant monster. If she could do that, then why not just obliterate one gay dude on a white dragon? and thats where she got it wrong.
@DarkDyllon2 жыл бұрын
@@EpicGamer-fl7fn Well, Brahne also had Beatrix who has been told to slay an 100 warriors in 1 fight single handedly, even through the story, the Burmecians don't really put up much of an fight. on the ground they kinda just get obliterated by black mages and later on our cast gets wiped by Beatrix easily. Then in Cleyra we find out that they Cleyrans aren't exactly adept in combat, so basically useless especially against someone like Beatrix, she could literally follow our cast, yoink the crystal and walk out and nobody could do anything against them. Possibly Fratley might've put up an decent fight, but would've died against Beatrix 100% Lindblum only really dominated the sky and that's only after Cid got restored to an human, before that he was completely useless and literally every ship he would design would fail, as seen aswel in disc 3 when they fly from Treno to Alexandria, that airship could barely handle that short flight, while human Cid designed the Hilda Garden 1, which Kuja yoinked because it was an excelent and fast ship. and later ofcourse Hilda Garden 3. Lindblum soldiers lack any form of brains though, during the Alexandria vs Lindblum FMV we see the Lindblum soldiers ... opening the outside gate and being completely caught off guard by the black mages, even though they know that Alexandria has black mages at their disposal, most of the working airships at that point got destroyed since Cid was still an oglop at that point.
@DarkDyllon2 жыл бұрын
@@Eat_shit--die_mad but the majority of the airships were destroyed and Cid was still an oglop and in the oglop/frog state he couldn't design working airships, hell the 1 closest to working was the 1 that the crew took from Treno to Alexandria and that barely held up.

This scene, the music, it offers so much for modern animation. The Lindblum fleet or what is left of it after the events of the game, ascending from the clouds. Boarded by ordinary men as well as soldiers, sick of war, tired, but united in the ambition to safe the world they live in. Cid and Hildegard standing side by side on the flagships bridge, staring into the sheer overwhelming masses of dragon that they are about to assault, or rather get assaulted by, a seemingly suicide-mission, but yet they keep their pride, keeping composure, only them holding each others hand tightly shows a signature of their true feelings. The red rose last ship of the alexandrian fleet, intercepting one wave of dragons and afterwards firing broadside after broadside, unleashing hell in the skies, while being torn apart by some dragons that manage to break through te barrage. Beatrix, first standing on the bridge, calmly giving oders, then drawing her sword to fight alongsider her soldiers, to fend of Dragons from the deck. I know I am a nerd, but give me this scene in modern grapchics, more detailed to a runtime of 6-8 minutes and i can die in peace.

He had a save where this would be the very next thing he'd see, but decided to hold off on entering the last dungeon for the weekend since he figured this was endgame. So I told him, "Just hang up right now, go ahead and fly to the tree. Call me back when you're done." However many minutes later my phone rings and when I pick up he's immediately shouting, "Ohmygod ohmygod! That was awesome!!!"

My spine tingles every time the music shifts and the fleet emerges from the mist. This scene was a cumulative effect of the heroes actions throughout the game. Kuja and Garland may have had the heroes on the back foot throughout the game but the unifying actions of Zidane's charisma and compassion and Garnet's selfless duty brought the shattered nations of Gaia together. They lost all their respective battles but won this pivotal war, which was the turning point against Kuja's dispear. Maybe I'm just a sucker for this kind of story telling, but seeing long reaching commitment to good deeds pulling people together into a driving force of change always makes my spirit soar.

love how far Steiner and Zidane have come over the course of the game. from Steiner wanting to kill Zidane. to Steiner possibly bargaining with the queen to shorten Zidanes sentence. to Steiner actually staying behind to cover Zidane and Garnets escape from Alexandria. to Steiner giving Zidane an hard time for being down. to completely trusting Garnet with Zidane. and then in this cutscene when Beatrix shows up and he's like "the red rose?! could it be Beatrix?!" and Zidane responding with "that's quite a woman you fell in love with" and then Steiner "you're the one to talk" With Garnets comment "what does that mean?" like shit, he completely accepted at that point Zidane and Garnet were a set, while before most of their adventures together they couldn't stand each other.

Ceara Ivory The difference between FFIX and any other of the series(Tactics aside--god damn that games storytelling is another level) is the level of maturity with the themes it handles. FFIX delves into dark themes such as genocide(Cleyra), and purpose(Vivi, Zidane, any of the characters really). Not to mention one of the strongest female characters in any game ever, Beatrix, the boss that the player never actually beats but instead gets cleaved down by three times(Climhazzard, anybody?) But yeah, TLDR: FFIX is on another level.

Lindlumb was not destroyed. One of its sector was, sure, but the other two sector suffered some damages, and as Artania tells Zidane and Dagger, the castle was spared completely. And where was Lindlumb battle fleet? Yup, in the Castle. On top of that, there was now mist all over the world, so Cid could easily use his old fleet that require Mist, on top of whatever battle airship he built after the Hilda Garde III. It's no surprise that Cid and his troops were battle-ready despite the damage their city suffered.

I have this idea inside my head, about how this cutscene would have been done if FFIX is ever made into a full-length film or a polished HD remake: Everything will play out as it did in this video at the beginning only in high-res, adrenaline-boosting action sequence, up until around 1:44, where in addition to the Red Rose, some surviving Burmecians will also join the fight, riding freakin' dragons of their own as well (most of their best warriors are Dragoons, after all), led by Sir Fratley (who, in my mind, received some character development in Freya's much needed subplot earlier that I planned to add in the movie adaptation or HD remake). The Nova Dragon would have fly out of that pink glowing thing and engages the combined airfleet itself, inflicting some casualties to demonstrate its power. Garnet would then summon none other than Bahamut itself and it will engage the Nova Dragon in battle (because I wanted Bahamut to have his comeback after being defeated by Alexander, and because honestly, how the heck did the party go out of the Invincible and fight the dragon on foot inside the glowing thing anyway if it's supposed to take them to Memoria?). After the Bahamut weakens it in a beam-o-war, Freya and Fratley would deliver the killing blow together using their Jump attacks, Fratley from his mounted dragon (Gizamaluke himself) and Freya from the Invincible. Fratley would then catch Freya mid-air and fly her back to the Invincible as it's about to enter the glowing pink ball to enter Memoria. And that's about it!

Title of the video " Kuja, humanity will survive ! " FFIX, 19 years after, still a masterpiece

I prefer this to FFVIII's Landing sequence because this sequence is the culmination of all the relationships the characters have made in the game. This couples well with, "You're Not Alone." Everyone in the game is trying to help you. They want you to succeed. I have no doubt that if Burmecia had airships, Dan would be there too. (Dan is the Burmecian you rescue from the falling statue just before you meet Kuja for the first time.)

It's nice that you named Garnet "Sarah" instead of "Dagger" 😃.

Years passed, but 0:40 till red rose appearance still epic as fck match with epic music as well. Too bad new generation of FF don't have something like this ...

This was so epic to see the first time and I got to see it three more times since you couldn't skip the cutscene and the Nova Dragon kept raping me so I had to go back over and over again hahaha

Incredible. Watching this again, I remember how I felt the first time. And the music fits the imagery so perfectly!

It always takes me off guard how hard the cut scene goes, no matter how many times I watch it. That part where you hear the percussion instruments announce the arrival of the Lindblum fleet - goosebumps, every time! FF7 and FF8 are cool - but not ASSAULT OF THE SILVER DRAGONS cool!

As epic as this scene is(and it is very much so,) I wish they had got Garnet to use one of her Eidolons, just to further add to the awesomeness of the entire thing. At that point in the game she was no longer scared of them and did have the ability to use strong ones, and since Ramuh and Bahamut can fly, they would have been useful...I'm just being picky, but had this but done. Holy. Crap. I would have had to line my seat with plastic for when I wet myself.

This cinematic is very stronger... Imagine, Lindblum was destroy by Alexandria, but theses both come to help us. I always love this situation

The only downfall to this part was when they played the original boss music instead of playing the Silver Dragon song when you fight the silver dragon. This is still one of my favorite scenes from the game and in the series.

The Silver Dragon song was actually a dungeon music to begin with. It wouldn't be fitting. The regular boss theme is much better for the situation.

BEST part is that the guy who's playing this is OG enough to know that Garnet's real name is Sarah

I always thought that "Feel My Blade" should have made a reprise somewhere later in the game, some time with a real showdown and an epic struggle against the odds, somewhere close to the end. Right about here, really. On one hand, the original song makes for more tension but using feel my blade would have better matched the lightness in the dialogue and the overall daring of the whole scene. Had the battle segment drop as they come out of the clouds... the thought gives me goosebumps!
