FFXI - Farming RP for Nyame in Odyssey Solo

Happy to see this in action. I read about it on FFXIAH, but I'm still a ways away from getting to the point of bothering to augment anything and just began my go at Atonement 2 V0 bosses. My biggest issue is getting the segments to tackle the V0 clears reliably lol. I play "solo" (tri-boxing) and totally recognize how slow it can be playing this way, especially without the best gear or ideal jobs. I just don't have the time or determination that others have to farm for Tizona, for example. I should one day make one or both of my alts a BLU to speed up the Cruel Joke segment farming (main is BLU).

TLDR: X3 V25 prep nets 7150 with a bumba kill. This was enough to send 1 nyame immediately to R15, and a second to WSD4 Great information. I 6boxed this with a twist- managed to get a win against v20 butterfly which was surprisingly not hard... PLD Atonement Spam sakpata sword SAM WAR Shining One COR Tauret RDM to handle the add 4song no marsyas BRD I then did this exact strategy but with a little twist... Since I had 6 I had zero trusts, and I had to utilize things like random naked 99s just to be able to get 18 different jobs thru. V25 was not difficult. I tried the worst lineup first for risk management, saved the super lock for last Round 1: a barely geared NIN I mastered last week using a Tauret, and a puppet master with COR rolls. The nin very loosely held hate (not well it's a work in progress) while the pup took it to 94. Then I bind kited with a very well geared mythic BLM utilizing mana wall and random deal for 10 minutes of invincibility Round 2: RUN and WAR with RDM supporting took it to 89, then RDM was dropping minute plus binds that would go for the RUN. Easy. Other 3 we're useless naked 99s Round 3: PLD + SCH + BRD. Dropped an unbuffed MBed Cryohelix MB on it, it actually took it down about 9%. A PLD with mages ballad and victory march was absolutely overkill for a very comfortable 15min hold. I knew the SCH was my super lock to get 5% so I saved that for last. V5 Bumba: PLD WAR BLU COR BRD SCH. I ended up using zero SPs to my surprise doing the V25 shenanigans so everything was on the table. I actually have 2 other characters that are my GEO + WHM that didn't make this roster cut because the Nyame augments aren't important, so I waited until the 4min mark to pull and did so with Noctohelix2 and kaustra. Waiting until the 4min mark ensured I would just time out instead of wipe. Ended up being an easy ~2min kill.

Hello, I just used this technique and it works wonders! Just to add a bit of info, I unintentionally took Dealan-Dhe to less than 74% on my 3rd run and it regen'd back to 100% but still got 4000+ RP from Bumba afterwards. So in case that happens to you, don't think all those segments are wasted :)

I just did V10 Bumba now with a triple from V25 charge ready. I got 4636 RP with the Moogle amplifier so I can confirm that it works.

Yea I'm loving it! SOOOO Much fun. Even finding that Savage Blade can be pretty devastating solo now which previously normally required party buffs for me. Good times ahead!

@@NextGamesGuide when you get real bored try those g katana ws once in a blue. Hmmm, I've never tested the ambu bow out though. Maybe that's worth a shot of looking into, but I doubt it. Definitely try some g katana out though. You'll be amused. 😉

You don't need an amplifier on each one, just one at the end.

@@NextGamesGuide So just to be clear, you purchase the amplifier, then damage 5-6% Dealan-Dhe three times, reenter sheol gaol, use amplifier, damage Bumba 5-6% Health. Each run would also cost a mog II. I'm just unclear when i should purchase/use amplifier.

@@davidkim8470 You can purchase the mog amplifier at any time, I just choose to do it before I start my full run to make sure I don't forget. You do not need to use it until your staring at bumba, use it then along with your other buffs and then get in as much damage as you can. Hope this helps.

I'm sorry but this strategy is really far from being optimal 1. You don't need to die 3 times on butterfly and lose EP. Just start the fight with like 1-2 minute remaining (whichever is comfortable for you to deal 6%HP) and get kicked to lobby alive while still fighting it. 2. Dont fight Bumba like that. You should fight it on side. Watch some video how to pull Bumba properly to one of the columns. You will avoid very annoying TP move like that. 3. After you die on Bumba and let it goes back to middle, fetters wont do anything to you, even if you reraise on top of them, so there is no need for any Mijin strategy at all. 4. You are wasting segments by not doing 2x V20 in the same run to keep bonus for amplifier active. For that reason you also should do higher Bumba than V5. Even V8 and doing 2x V20 after will give you avg V16, which will have better Segments:RP ratio than doing new 3x V20. Doing V11 Bumba will give you avg V17, which will have even better ratio. Another thresholds are V14, V17 and V20.

I'm sure there are some things that can be refined but this is what I found worked well for me after doing them for the first time this weekend. 1. Agreed, but I was always concerned something would happen that wouldn't allow me to finish in time and I'd waste segments and both jobs were low master levels anyway so I wasn't concerned over losing a few hundred points. That being said I at no time was at risk during the 10 runs so once you get comfortable with the timing of how long it takes you to get 7% then in this would be a good way to not have to lose the exemplar points. 2. I tried this many times during my initial runs, he just kept turning toward me every few seconds after I'd go past either leg. After a few runs of trying it over and over without ever being in danger in the front I just stopped bothering. Is there a way for the tank to spin around him to get him to stop turning toward you? I tried doing it close up, steped away a few feet, when up against a wall, etc no luck. 3. That is contrary to what happened on my second run. He spawned fetter, killed me with denounce immediately and then went back to middle. I got up and was immediately killed by fetter. I guess it could have been a fluke but after wasting those 13500 segments I wasn't anxious to try again so that's why I always just mijin strategy. 4. Not understanding this one, what do you mean 2x V20 in the same run? Do you mean Two Bumba back to back on two different jobs? FYI with both my current unlocks and the strategy I propose here people wouldn't have access to V10 Bumba just as I don't. But yea goes without saying you want to do the highest Rank you can while still getting 5-7% dmg in. That being said you also want to keep in mind the risk as from what I have read your not getting THAT much more segments. IE... Vengence 5 run I got 4400... I'm told if I had done Vengence 15 it would have been 5000 and Vengence 20 5600, while that's a nice bonus if you die once the difficulty of those higher vengence runs you will lose far more than the 600-1100 rp you would have gained. Not saying don't do it, just think people should keep this in mind when choosing which vengeance level to do the charged run on.

@@NextGamesGuide AD2 Watch video of groups killing Bumba and you will notice how to pull it, so it wont turn. AD3 You probably was too close to center and you got aggro from Bumba itself and then fetters killed you immediately. AD4 You do Bumba and after Bumba you make 2x V20 NMs to keep bonus, then on another run you do Bumba and 2x V20 again etc. So you build bonus for another amplifier in the same run you use boosted amplifier on Bumba.

AD3 Don't think so unless my placement on screen was incorrect as I was on the columns on the side trying to get him to not turn while swinging to his side. Regardless it's sounding like my expereince is not normal. Thx for the heads up. AD4 Interesting. I hadn't though about it that way but your right that would have worked if I had just done Dealan Dhe with drg and rdm on runs 2 and 3. Good to know, thx for heads up again.

@@NextGamesGuide AD4 Keep in mind you will get less RP, because bonus is based on V ranks used to boost amplifier. So boost from V5/V20/V20, will be lower than from 3xV20. You will use 3000 segments less and will save 15 minutes too. It might require higher V for Bumba to bump bonus high enough to have better segments:ratio doing it like that.
