well they are just finishing what they started, and im glad they are. we will probably see overall character qol in the future if they decides to finish there with new races. You're happy with your miqote or whatever, let others be happy to have more choices :) I fantasia'ed so many times because i didn't like any race until male viera. Saved lots of money thanks to the viera. Graphic update is making me struggle again though LOL

in regards to the shiny fur, feline hair is very soft and very shiny, especially darker hair almost looks greasy in sunlight, so I think they were going for a more realistic vibe. but I know what you mean, I also would have rather they made it more actually bushy (much like moogles fur)

The fact that hairstyles are tied to the face is crazy. After all the criticism they got for doing that with the male hrothgar, surely they would have fixed it here? But nope. I'm guessing they won't be able to wear hats either.

hahaaaa if you lool close in the benchmark a malegar miner is wearing the same gear as a hyur miner. Both are wearing the same mask. But hrothgar is not wearing the helm. 5 years of constant complaints and this is the best hroth got.

If the benchmark has proven anything, it's that we still desperately need a character creator that allows/shows proper in game lighting conditions instead of the terrible options we have now. Especially with the darker furred Hrothgals, it's beyond terrible trying to make out the details and differences with the awful lighting we have in the CC now.

It's kinda annoying that the skin colour is locked to which clan you pick. I wanted to design a female hroth for my 2 retainers that are modeled off my 2 ginger cats that I own, but since red/orange colours are only available on the helions, I can't pick the other one even though I like the shape of them better. And even then, they don't really have orange, it is just browns yellows and pinks. I don't mind them having "unrealistic" colours, but they should at least have realistic ones!

I think the only disappointing thing about this benchmark is the fact that they limited the hairstyles you can use. My character uses Styled for Hire and obviously its not a default hairstyle so couldn't use it when I transferred my WoL settings.

I did remember a tweet on Twitter some hours ago that I think you copied your character save data and renamed it to the same as the benchmark. But you editor would still revert it that you're fine using it during the benchmark itself.

@@Gamemaster-64 This is a benchmark not a demo, you don't need that on console you'll always get 30FPS on PS4 and whatever FPS they're targeting for PS5. PC players on the other hand need this to make sure they can run the game.

@@Gamemaster-64 What would be the point of that? you gotta wait till launch to use the new race anyway so there's no need to release it early, they put it in there mainly as a bonus for people checking out the benchmark so they can have something to mess around with and check out different races in case they want to phantasia The main thing here is to be able to benchmark the game.

Clicking on the sword/combat sound CYCLES between the possible combat attack noises, so you can hear ALL variations of just ONE VOICE.(Don't click on the voice number, click on the sword/hit icon). So try it multiple times before choosing you preferred voice.

Used this to test my WOL and its making me want Dawntrail so much to come out sooner. The dark character buff is so good on lalas, oddly not so much on my viera look though, guess thats what the free fanta is for.

I'm glad I watched this, because face 3 was the other one I was considering (as if I'm gonna have yet another alt to play... well, maybe) and I didn't know about the options for the studs. They also should probably put "facial features" directly below the face options. Feels weird to have them near the bottom.

my potato laptop could barely run the character creator and it obviously didn't look great, so i'm glad there's hq videos and images everywhere lol, really wish they'd put a version of this out for consoles pre-launch, but those resources are better spent improving the game in the long run. so far i'm really liking the changes, i'll be popping one of my fantasias before maintenance so i can adjust my viera asap and i've got an alt i'm dissatisfied with and swap them to fem hroth

I agree, the graphical update is amazing and I’ve only been playing since 2019 with ShB coming out. My bun looks even better now. Cannot wait to see both the new and old areas with the update. It’ll feel fresh.

Just here to say, face 4 looks a lot less "square" with the other hairstyles. It's also the only option with the big face tattoos that cover the nose and the left side

im annoyed we only get 2 hairstyle per face... could have made the hairstyle available on all face ( no the 2 hairstyle copies iwth slight changes dont count and the viper hairstyle doesn't count)

The third, aggressive pose in the voice selection menu looks pretty cool on them. I hope there are more hair styles in the actual game, though. Your character is a beauty!

they'll add them, but it's a question of if they'll be available at launch or in patches like they've been drip feeding male hrothgar and viera this entire expansion. i'm hoping they'll have done all the legwork and all currently available styles for male hrothgar will be immediately available if unlocked on females, but who knows with Square Enix sometimes.

If I delete the benchmark folder does that delete the new character creation save data too? If so how do I move it over to the main game?

Once you start the benchmark a new folder will be created named "FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn (Benchmark)" which is located in the Documents > My Games. So you're fine as long as you don't delete that folder containing the .dat files (Are character data files created when you save a character in character creation. You can at least delete the folder you use to launch the Benchmark.

I don't know if there's a way to do it in game, I might be stupid. But if you go to your XIV folder usually stored in Documents > My Games then you should see a bunch of white files that I think are named something like CHARA DATA with a number

i think the shine seems to be a byproduct of the graphics update and fem hroth having a more skin-like appearance. in the benchmark there was quite a bit of shininess on surfaces and characters i noticed. i'm really hoping it means dark skinned characters aren't just going to be giant discoballs in odd lighting.

yeah i have the same issue conerning the fur shininess, they say they gave it a fur-like advanced texture, but it is way too shiny and plastic-y, the no-graph update fur looks better on hrothgar as we know them right now personally. maybe they will readjsut it in the future though?

They look great and I made one I would be happy to play, but there are some problems imo (with the race in general not just females). 1. The tail colour is tied to hair instead of skin, so if you want a different hair colour then your tail looks out of place. Also if you don't mind matching hair to skin it's still almost impossible (especially for yellows) as the variations are completely different. 2. Hair and face are still tied together. 3. Still no confirmation if helms work. If I can't wear Dragoon, Dark Knight, Bard, Red Mage and Black Mage AF head pieces then the race is unplayable for me, those are the most important pieces for those job identities.

Hmm, hairstyles (and other facial features/tattoos) being tied to faces is unfortunate, as I feel like Face 4 got one of the best hairs (of any race) but also has one of my two least preferred faces (the other being Face 3), or how only Face 2 got actual eyebrows (which put it over Face 1/3/4 for me), but at the same time I found Face 2's hair options kinda mid. I'm curious which of the unlockable hairstyles in-game will be compatible for hrothgals though, as I know Square has been trying to get all of them working for viera/hrothguys over the years, so even though each face only has a few initial styles, it could just be a matter of picking anything and then heading straight for the Crystal Bell, lol. Also having to fiddle with the way it ties your hair color to a certain part of the fur on your body is kinda where the snow leopard theme I wanted hit a snag because it meant I was stuck with variants of grey to white hair on my head and it wasn't quite jiving with me (I'm prone to using purple/black/red/blonde on my miqo'te and retainers). Oddly enough, they let you change the color of the spots separately from everything else, but for some reason hair color *had* to be tied to that one part of the fur while the rest of the fur is changed via skin color. Ultimately I ended up making a hrothgal that was panther-like instead because I just couldn't find a medium/light gray or white color I liked for my hair, though I'm not sure if it'll keep because having a body that is predominantly black/dark gray is going to throw off a lot of my glams that are already, well, black and dark gray, lol.

I approve this model! It's very well done. She is very feminine without looking like a concrete mixer truck. I'm perplexed by how vast the customization of characters in Final Fantasy is compared to what exists in Warcraft. 200 times bigger than anything I've seen done in 10 years of gaming, from Cataclysm to Sadolands.

I have been a Miqote player for 10+ Years, (16 years if you include Mithra in FFXI) - and it is safe to say that I am permanently switching to Female Hrothgar! - I wasn't sure until i could make my own and I am ABSOLUTELY in love with my new character the only bitter sweet thing is having to wait until June to play as her on my main!!!

I play a fem AuRa, but if I was going to play a Hrothgar I would play a female simply because they don't hunch over. I tried playing a male Hrothgar but every time I switched to WAR or DRG it looked like the weapon was going to fall forward over my shoulder and smack me in the back of the head >
