Moral of the story: Never make your emperor immortal. He is not an Ascian and so does not have a primal god zealot-like focus to stay even remotely sane for all eternity on their life's goal.

Im actually curious whether the reveal about Amon was planned back when the ARR Allagan lore was written or not. The one in Syrcus Tower being a clone is something that feels like it might have been a retcon, but the whole thing such a "clean" one that i cant help but wonder if it was indeed planned way back then.

I knew about Xande, but the parallels between him and Zenos are fascinating! Two people in high ranking power within considerably powerful nations who would throw away everything at the chance for exhileration, because their life felt boring or meaningless otherwise. Not to mention a certain sundered soul played a hand towards both. Loving this series so far! Thank you for your hard work!

Since we know that the Ascians had a hand in Allag's development, is it possible that early Garleans were altered to be unable to wield magic? Emmit rarely spoke the truth and he did lie about The Burn to the Garleans, it would make sense that he'd lie to them about the reasons for their forced migrations to Ilsebard, as well. It's only speculation, of course, but something that's been in the back of my mind for a while.
@JrystalTyaeli3 жыл бұрын
The Garleans are descendants of the people of the Clockwork City of Goug, my personal theory is that since Goug relied far more on technology than magic that it attracted people who either couldn't or just weren't very good at performing magic. That meant that those kinds of traits were more likely to be passed on to offspring as the population grew so when the city collapsed almost no one in its population had the ability to use magic as it wasn't a trait that promoted survival or breeding in Goug and other traits like strength and technological intelligence did lead to higher chances of survival and breeding. I think that's how we ended up with Garleans. The Ascians may have a hand in promoting that but probably to promote the destruction of Goug and having the people survive to become Garlemald was a happy little bonus.

8:40 ... You could almost swear that you've seen this story before. It's almost like this entire section of the story is like some kind of mirror. No, but seriously. I love the story just keeps doing that with the parallels. I saw this kind of stuff during the beginning of the WoL's story. While the Ala Mhigans' storyline was playing out in the background and TOTALLY not becoming a bigger problem later in the story.

Hero and villain is what ppl perceive them to be, not who they are. You can be a helpful guy but still being called a villain because you oppose something that others don’t like or believe that it’s the correct path.

WOL is basically a villain to the Primals. Just think opposite when you’re born to be a jerk like Zenos but you don’t get anything outside of just hate. How would that one guy live if it’s the only thing he has lived for?

Something that caught my attention during this recap was interesting. The Allagans didn’t have any ways of dealing with the dragons initially. What about the dragons in Dravania in Eorzea? Wouldn’t they have to deal with Midgardsomr who guarded Silvertear lake, where the bloody Tower was located? But thanks to EW patch MSQ, I think it becomes somewhat clear about what happened. Middy simply didn’t start out in Eorzea! Why else would there have been so many dragons in Merecydia? Without an outside force pressuring them to, there would be little reason for the various dragon broods to migrate, they all seemed to get along rather well. But an invasion by Allag IS a pressure, one that could drive the dragons to take the war to the shores of Eorzea! It was likely during this time, right before the summoning of the voidsent that dragons took the offensive to Xande’s empire. Thousands of dragons flying to Eorzea to take down their foe. From there, the patch quests fill us in on the voidgates Xande opened to commune with and bring forth voidsent to drive back the dragons. But even after their defeat, I would bet that these far-flung dragons would have simply lied in wait, biding their time, and conspiring with the rebellious Eorzeans for their counterattack! From there, we get the 3rd calamity, and likely the resettling of dragons on the continent of Aldenard. I have no way to check or verify if any of the floating lands in the sea of clouds or Dravania in general were natural formations or were artificially made by Allagans, the dragons, or both in separate instances , but it was likely these quakes that drove the still exhausted dragons heavensward. From there, it was likely that Midgardsormr took to guarding silvertear lake, perhaps at the behest of Hydaelyn. That or the dragons simply ignored Allag while up in the skies above Eorzea while Middy simply was asleep the entire damn time 😂

Wait so im confused. Did all the calamities happen on different stars? And those aether came to the source or did they all happen on the source and their conflict destroyed other stars?
@UrielDominican2 жыл бұрын
In SB we learned that each of the shards have a tilt towards a specific Aether element. The calamities happen when the stability of Aether in the shards is disturbed so all of the Aether goes to the source. The source cannot receive that much energy without causing the calamity.
@eftultima2 жыл бұрын
@@UrielDominican so the calamities took place on the Source? So how were the shards being destroyed?

@@eftultima the shards are quite literally colliding with the source. In the form of aether
@TheWickedWizardOfOz12 жыл бұрын
@@eftultima It's a bit handwavey from what I can tell, but it seems like the Ascians were at work on the shards and the Source both. They would tilt a shard towards one element to destroy it, and the resulting collision with the source would trigger a calamity. And *somehow* they were also working on the Source to *somehow* pave the way for the calamities to have... greater effect or something? I've always been really confused by this part of the lore.
