It looks like the AI made only the bare minimum effort to recreate hairstyles (it had hair in the right locations, but didn't bother to attempt to comb/style the hair at all, making some look really "off"), and completely ignored any kind of scar/tattoo, which is a shame. Other than that, most of the uncanny valley looking ones seemed to have something wrong with the eye/nose/mouth size ratios, and generally "flattened" the faces. Some of them, like all the older people, actually looked really good. It just seemed to be defaulting towards "16-19 year old pretty-boy" for all of the not-old people, like it was going "smooth skin = young".

I think it has a lot to do with the eye/head size ratio, as well! Human children have much larger eyes, relative to the size of their heads, than adults do, and I think that's why Y'shtola and Alphinaud get interpreted as being so young.

That's a bit harsh don't you think? 4K screenshots obtained from cut scenes is far from "worst imaginable". It's not like using some low res image from Google Images. Obtaining "good images" using CMtool offers best possible lighting and camera angles. But many people choose not to use CMtool. Because... obvious.

I'm not referencing any one person, I'm sure there are some people who used the best images they could get, I am more speaking from my own experience watching these types of videos recently and seeing a lot of poorly lit and off-angled pictures that generate some strange abnormalities in the final product. Obviously "worst imaginable" is hyperbole, there are definitely far worse images out there that could be used.

If you're familiar with Corridor Crew here on KZbin they did a similar video and have a little tutorial for the program they used at the end of it that you may find helpful. I personally couldn't get theirs to work, and used a slightly different implementation, but there was so much troubleshooting involved to get it to work that it's not something I can quickly explain. I'm also not 100% sure if the use liscense would allow me to distribute the version I made, so atm referring you to the Corridor Crew video is the best I can do
