I think Wuk's presence makes sense, she was the effective MC of dawntrail and it'd be a bit weird if she just disappeared, especially since she was one of two people who was there when Sphene died. I would expect her to have a fairly significant presence in this patch, but as we transition away from Dawntrail and into whatever the future is (whether that be Meracydia or another reflection), she'll play less and less of a vital part as she is needed in Tural whilst we move away from it.

I think she'll be retroactively added to the whole MSQ Also, when we activate LB3, instead of us using it, she'll be summoned to wherever we are fighting and she'll be the one using the Limit Break 3 all by herself 😂

Pretty much. She's no different from Ameryc or Hien or Varshan. she will hang out with us during Dawntrail's overall story and then become a smaller ally in future installments, but removing her too early would cause a Lyse situation where we barely feel like we liberated anything because they swoop her away before the patch stories were even over.

as is usual for Dawntrail, her presence makes sense in all of it, but ours doesn't. like, all of Dawntrail's story would make more sense if the WoL wasn't there.

For purposes of the Ultimate, the Shiva incarnation has Mitron’s sigil. I’m thinking this will lead to fusion of Ryne and Gaia into a single entity like Eden’s Promise. Perhaps as the final boss? Also Bakool Ja Ja will be our companion for the alliance raids, so I get why he’s shown fighting Prishe in the artwork for Crossroads.

The question is why....Gaia is Loghrif, not mitron, so I'm curious as to why Mitron's glyph is used.

@@WalkerRileyMC Keep in mind through the story of the Eden quests, that Eden itself is Mitron’s mutated physical form. He fused with Gaia to.create an Ascian Prime to reawaken Loghrif’s memories within Gaia. If I had to guess, Ryne was vulnerable enough to be possessed by Mitron or that Mitron used memories of Shiva to take on physical form like how Eden’s Promise uses memories to replicate abilities of the Eden primals.

Considering the Ascian's penchant for body snatching, i can imagine Mitron might have body snatched Ryne before she became shiva, or even earlier than that.

the official twitter put out some footage from the stream and it looks like Mitron possesses Ryne right after she summons Shiva - i imagine it's for the same reasons Shiva went berserk, ice and light being closely linked and aiming to cause another Flood of Light, Mitron being embedded within Eden (the original Sin Eater) is able to hop hosts and do the usual Ascian possession routine, hijacking the Primal and likely suppressing Ryne in there

@@SirAdamusGames I'm curious if there will be any explanation as to how Mitron is able to possess Ryne. My understanding was that Ascians could only possess people under certain conditions and our character is immune thanks to the Blessing of light. Ryne is also blessed, so this confuses me.

Scorpion Harness was perhaps one of the best Melee DPS gear you could get late-game due to the high Accuracy boost it gave (Yes back then it was a big thing to get an ACC boost.) The problem is that you needed a high-ranked Bonecrafter with decent leather working to craft it and a rare drop from certain high-level Notorious Monsters (Rare spawns). Nowadays getting a harness is nothing due to how easy it is to get the claws and reach the rank, but it was an ordeal to get one back then.

Naoshi Mizuta is my favorite composer. I'm so happy to get a bit more FF11 soundtracks here. (Maybe he even does some of his crazy EDM tracks) So far only Lima's Aftcastle has a track that was composed by him. And you can really hear his style in that track!

I bet at most, Wuk is going to be put in the Leader role for their country much like Aymeric, nanamo, etc etc. I bet she'll still stay relevant whenever progress is made with the 1st and 13th reflections. Since she is the most recent one to have gone through her heroes journey arc and listening to the different needs of different peoples, I bet she'll be prime to help the 1st and 13th really kick off civilization for those reflections whenever that comes around. I still love her a lot. She's the definition of a good character story told badly. I see what they were trying to go for and appreciate it all the same.

Nah, it's what happens when you have a character become head of state. The entire point of Dawntrail's MSQ was installing her as Dawnservant. She'll help us with stuff relevant to Tural because it's her responsibility, but once things have calmed down (likely after Preservation are dealt with), then she'll stay in Tural and manage things there. Wuk Lamat is, for all intents and purposes, a better-written Lyse, and a chance to not screw up the ending.

It's what happened with Lyse and what greatly reduced her prescense as a state leader and I don't want that to happen to Wuk. It's entirely reasonable her prescense will be reduced once Dawntrail is over but people need to udnerstand first the whole expansion's story needs to be over first

@@StarMechV I could see the reaction to Dawntrail causing the devs to lesson Wuk's involvement should we revisit Tural in the future, but I doubt they're chomping at the bit to cut her out right now. They plan their expansions way far in advance and probably already had most of Dawntrail's patch story ironed out before its launch. Small adjustments might happen but they're not gonna throw away all that work on short notice. I suspect Lyse was the same. They already planned her story to unfold that way even before the masses had a chance to react to it.

I think that was just an excuse for him. What he really wanted was to prove he was the miracle and his worth and didn't really care what happened to anyone else. Maybe at first that was part of who he was but it wasn't something he truly cared about.

I'm gonna have to dissent and say the only thing I want more than "more Wuk Lamat" is "LOTS more Wuk Lamat." Not that the story should necessarily be -about- her the way it was in the top half of Dawntrail was, but in that she's a fun and engaging character and I like having her around. "What if Lyse was combined with Moenbryda, and then had cat ears?"

There was too much of her. She had to be pushed into every scene. Scenes she didn't belong in, even. And when the focus wasn't on her, the writers had her whine about being bored until the focus was back on her again. If she was left after the mid point, I think people would have been less annoyed with her. We needed a break from her so badly. Like, Emet-Selch is beloved not just because of his sass but because he wasn't there every single second of the expansion. He popped in every so often to help or sass us then left. Same with most of the Scions...they weren't there all of the time, save maybe Alphinaud as the sidekick. But then he was the sidekick then, and not trying to steal the scene every scene. I'm not saying we had to be the MC for the expansion, like some people think the main complaint was. We weren't for HW (Esti and Ys were) and it's probably the most beloved expansion next to ShB. But we do need to have a little bit of purpose. You can remove the WoL from DT and nothing changes at all. That's not good, making the player not matter to the story.

I was convinced sky, the Ark Angels and the Zilart would be the 2nd Alliance raid, and then we end with Promathia. The fact that we are doing Tulia now is wild. I guess if we are doing 'echoes' i guess Wings of the Godess story and Lisette might play a role in all this.

I think the end/ultimate preview with Shiva Ryne with the glyph is Mitron taking over her body. Probably a hypothetical "what if Mitron had succeeded" scenario from our sadistic minstrel. I wonder if the crystal cylinder under the Sphene memorial is supposed to be her sacrophagus? Her real crown has to be around there somewhere... Regarding Wuk Lamat, I doubt 7.1 had even the slightest chance to benefit from feedback. We likely won't see any ripples until 7.3 at the earliest. Chances are she's still around and largely relevant until the official Dawntrail credits in 7.3.

I had to watch the trailer on loop like 20 times; THE SHADOW LORD, my perfect husband who did nothing wrong, we will meet again Soon™ ! It all looks so good, makes me sad 1.0 failed so hard; i love it's UI sounds, too. I'm more excited about Echoes of Vana'diel than almost anything else that's been in this game before lol. I cannot wait. Also, considering it looks like we're fighting the Ark Angels as well (which shocked me!!!); I feel like Shadow Lord is going to be a mid-boss and *theyre* going to the Final Boss? (Although I guess we could still Eal'dnarche or something....) Actually, talking about this trailer in FFXI with my LS got them to help me finally clear the quest Divine Might, so....glad for that ^_^.

My theory is that if the Shadowlord can't die, He will be the final boss of the first two 24-man raids, a boss in the third, but will be replaced by something else as the final boss of the final raid.

Don't take his line about not dying as literal or at face value. He had the same attitude in XI, and he very much met his end. No, the likely thing will be that the next parts will encompass the Treasures of Aht Urghan, Wings of the Goddess, and Seekers of Adoulin expansions. Might even get some of the mini-scenarios and/or Abyssea in a nod. The final part is probably wrapped up in something similar to Rhapsodies of Vana'diel and maybe Voracious Resurgence.

All I have to say is that the new raid had better at least be fun, because while I have never played FFXI, I have watched friends play it on stream & it seems to be one of those old-school "treat it more like a second job than a game about as entertaining as watching paint dry" MMOs that don't appeal to me whatsoever, and that impression for me was only reinforced by them trying to enforce FFXI leveling & combat mechanics in Eureka (ask me why I have never set foot in Eureka after getting both the Eureka weapons for my main two classes near the end of Stormblood)...

I've heard people talk about people who played XI and the conclusion they came away with was that to play FFXI was essentially a trauma-bonding experience. Almost! But so, so, so worth it. Hands down the best MMO that has existed.

One way to enhance the amount of aether you could get from the cleansing process is to gather residual emotional memory from those associated with the person. You take their memories to enhance the amount of aether. It wasn't just twisted altruism. It was also greed. Which really is a theme for this expac. What does greed do to a person? How can it be masked by good intentions?
