If I remember right Mitron told Gaia that they joined together to make the shadowkeeper... which I'm guessing means they 3 joined together which is why it's got 3, or more, mouths.

What I love about this quest is how it ties up so many things. It even ties up upcoming questions from the last Eden like, now that Mitron is gone, how will the First manage to balance the Light? If they dump it back into the Thirteenth that could actually solve it. There are also the MSQ that posit that the people transformed by the Darkness could actually be brought back eventually if Alisaie has anything to say about it. So many things are being set up that I truly wonder if it wouldn't be the main focus of a future expansion.

I'm almost certian that there's going to be more to this, whatever form it takes. As evidence, I point to Urianger's comment concerning Unukalhai eventually requiring a physical form - while possibly a red herring and just a piece of info, it seemed a bit out of place for that to be brought up and then never be an issue in the quests following.

i got this as well, also a slight bit of dialogue from taynor that insinuates that unukulhai’s aether is instantly recognizable to him - so either his own or nyalbert’s, which points to more soul shenanigans going forward.

So I just finished this quest line and for the longest time since the end of 5.0 I had a theory that Unulkalhai was our counterpart on the 13th similar to Ardbert on the first. Well this quest totally blew that out of the water when I see the similarities of Unulkalhai and Taynor and their “connection” as if “synced”. Sad this is locked behind so many prerequisites that many won’t see.

And now 6.1 puts the void back into the spotlight. I wonder if 6.2 will do more than mentioning those two. Plus considering Taynor and Unukalhai could simply open a voidgate just like that would be a much simpler way to get into the void without much of the work we're putting in back at the Source. That being said, we can't really travel y'shtola back to the first to see it first hand so it's a low chance.

I feel like this could come back as part of the MSQ in 6.1 or later. By then I think it'd be a lot more reasonable of an ask for people to do the role quests. You only need 3 80's if you do SCH/SMN. It's probably more likely that we'll have this Void side story running concurrently for awhile but I'd really like it make its way into the MSQ at some point in the future.

even though it didn't happen in e9-12 like I was expecting, the restoration of the void I feel will still involve the eden raids in some way. Maybe it'll be similar to how the twinning combined the crystal tower, alexander, and omega - perhaps in 6.0 the raid series will be involving the flow of aether between shards (maybe something to do with lunar towers?), and once we get the aether there, we can use what we've learned from eden to properly establish and balance the aether into a place that's habitable. Or hell, maybe the 6.0 raid series will be the restoration of the voide and the fights will be against various powerful voidsent in an effort to restore them back to their mortal forms - ESPECIALLY since in 5.4 msq there's talk about how we can't restore the form of tempered people if their bodies have been altered, as that reads to me like a chekov's gun.

I wouldn't think world-hopping becomes common place now... After all, Unukalhai is kind of an exception in pretty much every way. - It might be a lot to ask of people to level up one of each roll to unlock this quest, and make it as well as the Warring Triad a requirement for further expansions - on the other hand, we have the same now with the Crystal Tower: I was already way into Shadowbringers before finishing that one because I was solely focused on the MSQ. And until a month ago I didn't even know Gaia excisted because I'm terrified of raiding... This also begs the question if she would play any roll beyond Eden. - As for the closett thing... I remember that Kryle more than once told him to open up a bit more and not hide behind that mask... On the other hand, even if Unukalhai is a couple thousant years old, having died as a kid probably left him stuck there, kinda like Elidibus; finding a companion in Taynor who appears around the same age (we'll ignore that Taynor has spend a century in the rift...) surely warmes him up more than a bunch of adulds...

If restoring the Thirteenth becomes msq, they could hand-wave how/why Unukalhai and the virtue hunters are involved by using Feo Ul as an intermediary and tossing in bonus dialogue in the event you actually did the role quests.

I really like the WoL in this quests, not only do we get some emotional range in the responses, we actually make some decisions instead of just doing as we're told, like calling Urianger and having the final word on what happens to the crystals. Not real choices but still it's supposed to be up to our character ingame

This is all I wanted after Cylva got shafted out of the 5.3 finale. At first I was confused why Unukalhai was going to the First rather than Cylva coming to the Source to be a Scion but I rather enjoy the way this ended. I will say I felt bamboozled, in the patch notes theyre called "Void Quests" or something, implying a bigger more elaborate involvement concerning going into the Void for missions and stuff but that didn't happen. Hopefully theyll update it in the next patch tot something awesome like that :) But either way, I will always enjoy more Cylva, hopefully she gets her armor and weapons back on and sart training that sword arm again...

Something just occurred to me. If unu and taynor are shards, and unu needs a body, could they be setting up for a fusion? I hope not, even though the evidence seems a bit strong. Eden just went out of its way to say shards are their own people, so in my eyes it would be like killing unukalhai off :( Either way, I would be miffed if we saved the void without them! I could see them removing the role quest requirement for "come shadow" to make it more accessible in the future. Maybe theyll even meet up with Ryne and Gaia next patch at this supposed festival :o

I think difference between us and ardbert rejoining is that ardbert was more or less a ghost walking around who also willingly rejoined with us, unukalhai is much denser in terms of aether, and as far as motivations go he probably won't feel the need to sacrifice himself in order to give traynor a powerup to stop an ascian

Pretty sure was stronger hint Unu's "us" because you talk to Taynor he goes something about his aether was familiar but that can't be. Mage quest we used our aether to guide Taynor out and we were auracited Unu one of the Scions made wisecrack of you're good at that

Actually, I think it's hinted that Unu and Nyelbert are shards of the same person on the Source. So when Taynor's talking about him working with Unu and it's like conversing with an old friend, that's where the hint comes from. And when Unu uses Nyelbert's crystal to learn the void summoning, it resonates with him pretty deeply.

Random Thought: Maybe we won't get any MSQ Unekalhai until we get new jobs in each of the 4 roles so that they don't require leveling to do the role quests... that would be a cockblock I could see Yoshi P not wanting to do to people.

Yes. According to the patch notes it requires having completed Shadow Walk with Me, which is the quest with Cyella.

Yes the initial part is just the 4 role quests and then the bonus one. For the rest of it involving Unukalahai (sp?) you have to have done the warring triad story and Bismarck and Ravana Extreme too. It’s quite a lots to get through if you’ve only done one role quest or haven’t done any of the warring triad. That being said I really love it and feel like they’re sewing the seeds for something later on down the line.

I don't think so. I did kill my last extreme a couple weeks ago but Unekalhai didn't have anything for me... I think he just makes sure you unlock ex for those trials. No promisses though.

@@ridleyroid9060 Yes, that's right: you have to level all 4 rolls at least once, otherwise you can't get the quests from Giott, Granson and the others. Giott gives you a quest if you have a healer job, Lue_reeq is range- and melee-dps, Grason is for tanks, und Cerric is for magic dps. They are the ShB version of you usual job-quests with tons of XP but no skills :) When you have done all four, you get a follow-up quest Cylva about the Shadowkeeper and after that, this one follows - if you have done all of Unukalhai's quests in the Source that is... It's a little grindy considering leveling all those jobs but the stories are worth it :)

@@ridleyroid9060 Ahhhohkay... maybe one has to finish the follow-up on the source of your job, too? If you've done your lvl80 role-quest on the First, you just return to your old job teacher and they have a little follow-up. It's difficult to finde because those are not unlock-quests with a special icon. Try that maybe? Otherwise, I'm at a loss :(

I definitely think this might be the seed of a new expansion only because it would be easy for them to just do like the did with shadowbringers and be like please do crystal tower before hand but not make it mandatory and by doing this quest we just get more dialog options in said expack
