FG KNOT, easy, fast, without tension, its totally awesome. Wayne Groomes

Thanks for watching, I have redone this video, the previous was uploaded 3 years ago. Several viewers complained that it was out of screen on occasion so it was time to give it another run. The FG Knot is completed without tension and is super easy to do. Well worth a look.

Ha, ha you are correct. Wayne's version of the FG is fantastic but if I am tying them at home in preparation I do like to finish with a 5 wrap Rizzuto. I do not use the mushroom however, it seems to add too much trouble to an already complex knot for little gain. I apologise if I am being a wanker!

I like do 3 half hitches before i pull the fg together just for peace of mind and then 3 or more just to cover the cut end of the leader line so theres no hard mono edge showing.

Yep that is the way it was first presented to me as well. I just got a little lazy and it has always been forgiving. Thankfully

cheers - simplest one I have seen - I have seen people tying two half hitches over both lines - and then after cutting the leader tag they do even more to give it a smooth taper. Given that you have used your method of years with no grief - I wonder if you any thoughts on the extra knots or whether that's overkill?

You never did the light line version. I tried this with 17 lb. mono and 20 lb. braid and couldn't get it done.

Ending is unclear ,tied 5 x keeps coming apart ,which tag end Is it tied over which line at the end ?

The braid tag is used to tie off. I use a half hitch.

I’ve successfully tied it as low as 6lb the knot has to be around 2.5cm long I do 70 individual wraps.... I find 4lb impossible the knot just slips out

I’ve also used this knot with light line. But I do prefer a uni to uni for light line.
