Great piece. My absolute favorite Mecha ever designed. The cartoon hands are from the original animation and the robotic hands are from the Do you remember love Macross movie.

Be a little bit careful of two things. The shoulder joints have always been a problem on the Yamato version of this mould, and although Yamato made some improvements to the strength of the joint, even that was prone to cracking over time. Arcadia, when it bought those moulds (after Yamato went bust) made some further improvements, but the weakness is in the DNA of the engineering. Also, watch out for potential breakage of the connectors on the underside of the wings. These can come off when removing the ordinance sometimes.

Being an old Anime head myself, This is basically based off the movie Macross - Do you remember Love from 1984. Hikaru aka Rick Hunter pilots this Valkyrie towards the end of movie for the final scene. I would of never thought in a million years a 3rd party company would do a Crossover Transformers G1 version.

I'm absolutely loving this thing, even with the weird mix of markings it got. Some notes about articulation: - It looks like yours has the same secondary elbow joint situation as mine. One is insanely stiff, while the other works fine. I think it's due to a molding or assembly error. - The knees actually have a small extension joint in them to give more range of motion both forward and back. It helps to avoid colliding with the armor packs. - The shoulder joints are fairly easy to open up for maintenance. You need to _gently_ spread the covers by the corners, and they will slide off over their locator studs, exposing the screws to loosen the joints, or just disassemble them. A couple of thoughts on the markings and logos though, because two things stuck in my mind about it. First, yes, they were absolutely not shy about copying the original G1 Jetfire packaging, but I noticed the actual Autobot logo is entirely missing from it. They removed any instance of it from the artwork, so maybe that's some absolute line they couldn't cross to avoid legal action? I don't mind needing to pick up some logos to use on the toy, but it's too bad it's missing from the box. Second, about the Macross markings, I actually wonder if they _couldn't_ remove those for this release. Since these came from a Macross KO production line, I would not be surprised if a lot of the markings are part of a single production process that does all of the tampo printing at once before the parts are even removed from the molding sprues, and all they were able to change was the colors the markings were printed with, rather than what was printed. Or, they could have just left them there to help deflect any copyright investigation. Hard to say. I'm definitely going to be repainting a few parts and adding some decals for a more accurate Jetfire scheme, but it also makes me think of the original Matsushiro Jetfires that still had some of the Macross markings printed on them.

I'm glad you like him. I collect mostly Masterpiece figures along with anime and Macross figures. This will scale nicely with my other Macross figures. I do like Arcadia so a KO of Jetfire in a Macross figure is perfectly fine with me. They're solid figures that feel like they might break but, I've yet to have one breakage from any of my figures.

The neck piece and seat behind the head is for the Macross Veritech mode. In the first or second episode of Macross, Rick Hunter exits the Veritech in robot mode by tilting the head all the way forward and the seats rise up out of the neck.

In my opinion it scales with legends. If you take the pilot out and put him next to new age Optimus its spot on and looks like he can drive the truck. Its near perfect. Anything larger and the human pilot is way to small.

Great review as always. If you want a little history on those hands; there are rounded and robotic versions because one was from the macross tv show, and the other was from the movie. So Arcadia decided to include both, and Valkyrie factory then did too. As for the all the un spacy and skull squadron graphics; my thinking is they probably did not want to retool all the tampo pads. But that’s just my theory. As for the heat shield (the cockpit cover) I just popped mine out of the track. It comes out very easily.

That Iron Factory Jetfire is sooo tiny!! Makes me glad I got that TNT01 oversized KO, it's a more fitting size for Legends and stuff (definitely works great with Magic Square Optimus 2.0, NewAge Megatron, even Hasbro's Core class Seekers and Soundwave). So there's no way to snag the FG-01 for under a Benjamin, eh? That part sucks, especially when prices on G1 toy KOs are already way outta hand, outta pocket, & outta clothes. BUT...given that both the Arcadia Valkyrie *and* G1 Jetfire go for stupid amounts of money on the likes of evilBay, it's absolutely a viable alternamative. I'm not a fan of them bubble butt hands, either; but it is accurate to the original toys...just like that big ol' propane tank lookin' gun.

There's a lot of people who would like this, especially if they haven't owned an Arcadia or Yamato version before. But I'll still stick with the brand new ThreeZero iteration rather than the 20 year old engineering of this one. It also has plenty of diecast, so will be nice and hefty in comparison
@TMReviews15 күн бұрын
Did they make a Jetfire version?
@drewlovelyhell489215 күн бұрын
@@TMReviews No, but Jetfire is ultimately just a Macross knock-off with an autobot symbol on it anyway. I'd rather get a Fokker VF-1S. G1 Jetfire was my holy grail Transformer when I was a kid, but I had never heard of Macross back then. And he didn't even show up in the cartoon. We just got Skyfire instead, who I never liked, since his design is a poor substitute for the beautiful Valkyrie.

It really looks great armored up, and although It feels like a KO the build is still good. It holds poses, the joints are done well but it could have used a full paint job. I got a stress mark when putting on the backpack so use caution. Three Zero however, did a much better job though (esp. w/ hardware) and If they put one out in these colors I'm in 100%. Needs stickers to cover the U.N. Spacy/Jolly Roger details for full effect.

The gun doesn't fit properly against the arm because the back of it is misassembled. The smaller fin should be against the arm when it's held. You can split the tail in half along the seam and reassemble. Will likely need glue to secure it.

@sheetpostmodernist39816 күн бұрын
Out of curiosity, how much bigger would it be in MP scale? I'm not very familiar with the MP scaling charts, so I honestly don't know what MP scale would be on this one. XD What I _can_ say though is that in terms of the jet, these are made in 1/60 scale based on the Macross design specs, which is the same "real life" scale as the original MP-3 Starscream and its later variants.

Here's a clip, you'll see the "flight stand/mechanical launching arm" in question at about 02:01 the ways in..... kzbin.info/www/bejne/rn67ZYh_p9-KZqc

I would have liked a red heat shield instead and no skull insignias to better match Jetfire. And the arm armor parts are wrong. Jetfire was based on the Super Valkyrie from the TV series, not the ones from the DYRL movie. I have a junker VF-1S. I'll just use the heat shield from that one and paint it red.

Well, the original Takatoku toy was acquired by Bandai, and unlike Hasbro/takara, Bandai does protect their Ip. And rather aggressively at that. There was a cheap knockoff being sold recently (I bought a few of them) but they don’t seem to be very available anymore. I would bet Bandai had something to do with that.
