As ironic as it sounds, running all three top-tier casters together is an incredibly effective stall team. Waver can offer more buffs, and can debuff the enemy and drain NP charge, Tamamo can also drain NP charge, and reduce cooldowns, and Merlin is there to bring the cherry-on-top style of support, as well as the hard-counter you need. I ran these three against the Avenger Kingu fight, just for the hilarity. 50-turn fight where none of them ever had less than full HP at the end of every turn. It was the ultimate war of attrition.

I Did basically the same against gorgon, I took mash, merlin and tamamo together to stall her out for 15 turns instead of killing her for the lols. It got to the point where my entire team was firing NPs every turn and not taking a point of damage. I dont think I was laughing as hard as I was at the game than at that moment. I love stall teams :D

@@karenwang313 same for that one too. If not for the 15-turn limit, that fight would have lasted forever, with no victory in sight. At that point, I knew that I had a God-comp in the form of my Waver, my (new) Merlin, and my wife's Tamamo (I have my own, but hers is NP5 soooooooo yeah.)

@@isedesi7982 as boring as it is, the game will soon have a point where stalling is the only thing that you can do in some fights. Break Bars are about to be introduced. They're about to make boss fights that are specifically designed so that you can't just burst them down. NP-spamming every turn, NPs that one-shot, multiple health bars, damage resistance, evade/invincible spamming, shit gets real fun after Solomon :D

He technically did, just not in the recommended team comp section. Honestly pretty much every buster servant could go there as well. Ozy , Quetz, and even Medb benefit just as much from Merlin as they both have high star weight naturally and buster focused decks. The same goes with Tesla, Drake, Ishtar, Rama, ect.

Merlin really is the ultimate support. But there are actually some situations where he actually isn’t much of a help. Usually in gimmicky quests with enemies that have buff removal, and/or stacking loads of debuffs on your team. Other notable quests that come to my mind are the Abigail fight, some parts of Lost Belt such as Ivan. You really need to bring a debuff clear such as Martha to the demon pillar, because it stacks so much burn on your party that Merlin will often struggle to keep up with heals. Maybe double Merlin is an exception. IDK All Merlin killed Waver memes aside, Waver is still better at farming and keeping the enemy in disadvantage. Specifically lowering defense, stunning, and lowering their NP charge. Of course you could use both meme lords. Lol

I'm guessing this is partially the reason for all the Buff-heavy and/or Debuff-heavy fights in more recent JP content. A bit of an indirect nerf to Merlin since there is a lot more stuff around which he isn't equipped to deal with.

I emptied my SQ reserves on the summer banners, so I spent all my efforts on getting as much free SQ as I could since then. I rushed through Babylonia, Solomon and the pseudo-singularities in a few days. I used the 1/2 Free Quest AP event to do ALL of them for the completion SQs. I did about twenty interludes. I grinded bond-points for all the servants relatively close to a bond-level-up for the bonus SQ. I grinded 130 boxes out of Nerofest, with extra focus on whatever resources Merlin would need. I prepared myself to open my wallet if all of those failed. I got him in just 90 SQs, along with NP2 Lalter and Salter. I raised my Merlin to Lv90, 10/10/10 on the spot... and I have yet to even put him on a team, because all I have been doing is 3T farming Clerkenwell for gears and bones. FGO is one helluva drug...

"waver killer" i mean, waver is still the god support that goes with literally any comp and in fact, a waver/merlin/x comp works better than merlin/merlin/x later once we start getting gimmicks with each break bar. So dont worry boys, having a waver is far more important than having memelin.

That was part of why I was so convinced I wouldn't get Musashi until Shimosa. 11:51 Okay *pats self on back* But seriously, I think I had fairly decent luck on his banner. Summoned as soon as the banner dropped (and the servers stopped dying) and did eventually get him. Took a couple tickets and about 340 SQ, but I did get both Nightingale and Altera (two of my personal favorite 5* servants) to NP2 in the process along with getting my 2nd copy of 2030 (my account's meme potential is growing), plus I never got spooked by any other casters so my sanity didn't take much of a hit either. Overall pretty happy with the results (also he was the first servant I managed to get to 10/10/10 within an hour of getting him since I needed 1 more heart to max him, so I'm happy with that too).

Honestly, he's kinda fun to use with Cu Alter and Mash because bersekers are somewhat hard to keep alive for long battles. Not to say Cu Alter doesn't have that issue persay, but still, fun comp.

I agree with everything that you have said except the waver killer part. 50% np charge for a 3-4 turn farming can never be replaced. Like you said in your Nitocris review, almost 90% percent of the game is farming and most good craft essence comes with 50% np charge (except kaleidoscope of course but it does not have np strength). I really dont wanna waste another turn or 2 before I can fire off my np. Another case in point, before merlin, my waver pulls around 1000++ fp everyday but after merlin, it only drops down to 900 to 800 fp daily so I am not alone with this sentiment. Merlin does fully deserve that EX ranking but in farming, which is most of this game, Waver still holds that EX rank and Merlin is not even close to that.

I got him an hour before his banner went away! Got those 10 tickets from the shop, after pulling Arjuna from the Musashi banner i halfheartedly threw 5 tickets at Merlin.. And i got him! He's my first limited servant in the game so i'm very happy to have him. The fact that he's insanely good is just a bonus. All my lores are for this guy.
