FIA GT1 best of - MC12, C6R, DBR9, Murcielago, 550, S7R, ...

One of the best racing series ever. FIA GT1.
The biggest regret I have is that I didn't film that much when I went to these races. I was big into photography at the time (I still am though). And I bought my first camcorder in 2012 when FIA GT1 didn't exist anymore. :-/
So I've missed many great moments and sounds on video.
Stil here are some clips with those screaming and rumbling supercars.

@@X8X8X8X8X8X8X8X8X8X I do believe the GTE was supposed to be a replacement for the GT2 Class, so if anything, the GT1 would probably on roughly the same pace of JGTC GT500 cars (which are almost as fast as non-hybrid LMP1 cars)

Makes me wish I was 10 years older.. in 2011 I was only 8 years old and more into trains than cars... looking back now, I’d give everything to time travel back to this era. The Murcielago R-GT is definitely my favourite of the cars, though.. amazing video!

I am born in 1995 and into trains as well. I started following racing in 2007 - the Vitaphone Maserati MC12 GT1 is the first racecar I can consciously remember. To me, it is THE racecar.

everything was loud af, corvettes were even louder in person though, you could feel your whole body shake when they went by, even with the zr1 gt2 cars

Thanks for sharing this. So glad I went to Zolder every year when the GT1's were there. The sounds are epic but were far more impressive trackside. Never have I ever heard such an aggressive screeching beast as that Lamborghini R-GT, especially when upshifting on the straight between "Rea" and "Jacky Ickx". Combine that with the low growling powerhouse that was the Corvette and mix in those superb MC12's and Aston's, still give me goosebumps.

@@houseking9211 GT3 it's a great move from a financial perspective with all the manufacturers, teams and thousands of people employed. It's an accessible car for all the AMs with money and without it most GT racing would have died a long time ago. That being said, it's boring and most of the racing is just some guys doing a few laps, the competition it to not break anything.

When GT racing was epic. Though i never understood, how they allowed the MC12 to Race in a Championship that was designed around GT Cars, MC12 wasn't a GT.

because all you had to do was make a few road cars and they would let you run whatever you wanted. they figured they could get a leg up on other teams with a crazy chassis design and it was completely legal. that doesnt mean it worked but they still tried

GT1's were very expensive, yet they don't look too different from GT3's even though they were much faster. People (including me) Gravitated to GT3 and unfortunately the series started losing viewers and eventually it had to be canceled. So both cost and loss of interest. The cars were incredible though.

Michael La Falce sort of, it’s lmp1 cars with lmp1 technology but the body would be based off of a production hypercar. Gives a chance for Maserati to build a replacement mc12.
