Fiat 500 Abarth Window Clip missing

Fiat 500 window showing that the corner plastic clip was gone, causing the window to rock front and back. this creates extra force on the regulator and makes the plastic break off.
this is a must to replace when you change your regulator.

One important note that was not on the video. Make sure the old clip is not floating around in the channel so drag a thin screwdriver in the channel and make sure it’s clear. Then when you install the clip on either side, make sure the fin is facing “in” like the video says. It shouldn’t matter where the position of the glass is up or down because the clip will slide into the channel when you pull it toward the outer edge of the door. Lube up the clip a little with white lithium grease. then get behind the Back edge of the door, put both left and right hand on the inside and outside of the window glass and pull the window outward toward the end of the door so the clip goes into the slot to get it to seat in the channel. Of course make sure that the front edge channel near the hinges are in place as well.

I don't think that is the best way to get the glass with clip into the channel. Here is my take on it.... With regulator out of the door, lower the glass all the way down about as far as you can go. It will be below the start of the channel the clip rides in. Standing outside the door, I reach in and hold the bottom of the glass and while lifting up...guide the clip (and window) into the track. Hit the inside of the track/weather strip with silicone spray for lube. Raise window all the way up and tape over top of the door to hold glass out of the way to install the regulator. Just my take on it. If one were to install that clip in the position the guy has his window and then force it into the channel, there will ... most likely ... be some amount of damage to the channel, clip or weather strip felt. I came here just to see if he showed which way that darn clip went and if he did I wouldn't have to take the passenger side apart to find out. LOL No Hate, just been doing this for a looong time and hate for someone to get jammed up trying to do the old square peg, round hole thing.

Also, pull the inside rubber strip. Just grab one end and lift. It is heavy duty and playable and nothing clamps or screws it in place, but it will make life way easier if you elect it need to remove the glass completely out of the door. Make a note of how it came off as once you set it down it just doesn't look like it should or would go back in place...but it does...LOL

Omg! Thanks so much for sharing! I replaced the regulator 2 times and broke cause the window kept falling down like this! I noticed the hole on the window but didn’t think anything of it.

My window clip (2013 500 Pop) doesn’t look the one in the video. It doesn’t have the pin (that goes into the hole in the window) that yours has. It has a hole on each side. Looks like there’s a pin that’s supposed to go through it to hold it on. But when the clip popped off (and went flying) the pin did, too. I found the clip but not the pin and I have no idea what it’s made of, what it looks like, etc.

you can buy the clip and pin for less than 10 bucks. the pin locks in there. you cant make it yourself.

the guide clip is self explanatory, push it in, lock the pin. and brig the window into the channel from the bottom so the guide pin seats inside the channel.

Hi, I’ve got a 2008 fiat 500 and have replaced 2 internal clips that brake all the time. It just broke again and so bought the upgrade window winder and put it all together and it works but it’s dragging and disconnects. I saw your video of putting in a new window clip at the top of the window so I bought one only to find my fiat window doesn’t have a hole in the window to attach it to. I don’t think this early model ever had a hole but as all the parts start wearing the window has started to drag at the front. I don’t know if it ever had a window clip at the top of the window! Do you think I could get some good glue and just glue the clip on? I thought about carefully drilling a hole but was too afraid in case the window cracked! Any suggestions?

look for the pin hole. it has to be there. i ve worked on any model since 2012

i did another video to show the regulator. this is just for the clip that most people forget to install. if you dont have the clip, your glass will rock front and back, and end up breaking the regulator guide. hope it is helpful. if you need any more info dont hesitate to ask.

@@swatsn1per after you install the clip, you let the glass go down into the door you will be able to slide it back in the track from the bottom up.
