Thank you for this Fiat 500 Window Track clip installation video. The instruction to remove the metal plate (with the 3 screws) at the edge of the door makes the whole process much much much simpler! A couple of years ago I installed a clip on the passenger side and I fought with it like it was an MMA fight! Now the Driver's side was a breeze compared to that. Thanks again.

Thanks! Was struggling to put in a new window after my old one got smashed by a rock from a truck. Especially the clip that runs in the rails top back corner of window. I tried “rotating the window counter clock wise to click it in but I didn’t want to force it. Good thing I came across your video. It seems to go up a tad slower than the old one so I hope everything aligned properly… Now I have to figure out how to remove that sticky residue from the plastic wrap I had on while waiting for the new window to arrive…

Glad it helped. I put some heavy grease in the track where the clip slides but I am not sure if it made a difference or not. Seems about the same speed as before

does it already come with the clip? If so how do you remove the clip in preparation for installing a new one?
@DIY-VIDEOS6 ай бұрын
Yes the original clip is metal. Metal or plastic, the old clip breaks and usually gets stuck in the track. I found two old ones in the passenger side window. These need to be removed but this is easy to do when taking things apart as shown.

I currently have my (2013 fiat 500 sport) door completely taken apart but I cannot figure out how you accessed those screws for the clip track, I fear if I pull on the lining too hard it’ll damage it, how did you get to them you only shows pictures in your video? Thank you.
@DIY-VIDEOS Жыл бұрын
I did it with the screwdriver itself. Basically insert the screwdriver tip in at an angle under the lining until it touches the screw and the move the handle of the screwdriver towards you and this makes the screwdriver work like a pry bar as you see in the picture . I had to use some force but it didn’t damage the rubber. Hope that helps :)

@@DIY-VIDEOS thank you! I appreciate your response. It’s good to know that it can be done. Have a good day, thanks again.

So the edge of the little plastic guide that has the ridge on it goes toward the inside of the car. Then you push the pin in from the outside of the car. Is that correct? For some reason you said from “this side” which is a bit vague. And then instead of showing actually putting the pin through the hole you cut to the other window with the clip already installed. But thanks for putting up a video because there’s no instruction whatsoever with the little plastic clip I bought. And the original was already fallen off in the door with no pin anywhere.

Its a frustrating job, I know :) I broke at least four of those clips trying to figure it out before I realized those metal plates must be removed. I ordered a bunch of them. Yes, the ridge goes to the inside. As far as I remember, I pushed the pin in from the inside (the ridge side) out through the hole in the window. You can see which way the pin goes because on one side, the hole in the clip is bigger. That's the side you want to push it through. You need some pressure to get the pin in, use something with a small flat area. It sort of "pops" in place. It will stick out a bit after it pops in place. Trim it flat with a sharp knife. I am sorry, I was unable to film it because I needed both hands.

Do you mind dropping the exact name of the window track clip? Would greatly appreciate it
@DIY-VIDEOS Жыл бұрын
If you search for "fiat 500 window channel guide clip" on ebay or amazon, you will find them for $10 or less. I don't think there is an official name. They appear to come from different vendors. There is also an official metal clip but I don't know where to get it. Fiat dealer never responded to me about it.

I changed mine out with the regulator. Not the window barley moves going up or gets stuck I can’t figure out what it’s stuck on tho
@DIY-VIDEOS Жыл бұрын
On mine there was an old broken clip stuck in the track. I removed that and also put some grease in the track
@riverhaire4279 Жыл бұрын
@@DIY-VIDEOS should I just grease the area where the clip slides or the bottom part where the window slides as well?
@DIY-VIDEOS Жыл бұрын
@@riverhaire4279 I only greased the rubber track that the clip slides in. I used heavy grease like used in a grease gun. After moving up and down a few times, mine improved a lot
