Fiat 500 Classic - Generator rebuild

Restoring the generator from my Classic Fiat 500L. Fitted new bearings and brushes, painted main body with heat resistant paint, cadmium plated the 2 long bolts and thoroughly cleaned everything else.

@@AircooledProject thank you. Car is in overall good shape. But my generator looks pretty bad. Lots of surface rust on the housing. I need to paint it like you did. Also- would be good to get some new brushes and bearings like you did.

In my case, the fan side bearing was the reason I did this. Just be sure to mask the inside with tape when you paint.

Did you not want to convert your Cinquecento to an alternator? Or are you trying to keep it original?

I never had a problem with the generator and I would like to keep it as original as possible, at least looking original. I am doing a few internal engine upgrades. Also I kind of like how the headlights get a little brighter when you accelerate 😄
