FIAT 500 Window Regulator Replacement

One of the common issues with a Fiat 500 is that the window regulator breaks and needs to be replaced. In this video I go over the process of removing and installing a new window regulator assembly on my FIAT 500 Abarth. The process is simple and should take more than 10-15 minutes from the removal to putting the door back together. I decided not to replace the motor and used the original motor that came on the window regulator assembly and swapped it into the new piece I ordered.

Thanks to your video I was able to replace the Window Regulator, my father was giving me grief that I would not have been capable to do it and I would not have found the part, but thanks to your video I went to a local parts seller and found the part after that I proceeded to replace it and now it's working like nothing ever happened. This was a great tutorial. I ended up buying the whole window regulator, motor and all, so had to skip some of the part where he swapped the motor to the new piece. The only thing I got hung up on (having never replaced something like this before) was getting the notch in the window glass to line up with the knob on the plastic piece. You want to make sure they hit right so your window will roll up AND down. Mine did not get lined up right. I had two other people try to help me with it and the key was snugging your window up (rolling it all the way up) once it is seated right in the plastic piece, and then rocking that plastic knob towards the hole until it clicks into the hole in the glass. It is close to impossible to do when it is rolled farther down because there is not enough downward force pushing the glass into the plastic piece. I hope what I am saying makes sense. Probably saved myself a lot of money doing this myself. So happy about that! Thank you for the tutorial!

Just wanted to give you your props. I followed these directions exactly and everything went perfectly, I was done in less than 30 minutes. Only thing I would add is put something down under the plastic door so when you set it on the ground, you don't scratch it all up.

Thanks for the tip; got my replacement regulator off of ebay and I managed to install it easily; albeit, with a little help from my wife. Just an added tip; use a box cutter to cut along the inside door punchouts behind the foam of the door; use your finger to locate the cutouts and this makes for taping a much cleaner and easier process at the end. Also, be sure to place the door panel first over the top inserts before snapping the panel back in. If you snap the side or lowers in first, the top will not set properly into the top notches or support... I didn't know this and had to remove and then re-attach the panel in properly -- top side first into the hangers, then snap the sides and bottom -- easy-peazy.

I had to do my driver side about a year ago.. This is a very good refresher because i gotta do the passengers side now! Heads up if you have to do the driver side, be careful around the power mirrors buttons there are little clear pieces that come out and you dont want to lose em

Helped me! There had been a rattle w my window open from inside the door. It wasn't the window itself but it WAS from the regulator being loose on its mount. Also: you can remove the sound proofing foam sheeting without tearing it, by using a letter opener and running it along the glue joint that mounts it onto the door frame.

This was aftermarket. Worked well, no reason to get the oem stuff unless you need the motor.

Hmm I tried it but when I roll the window down it's not pulling the window and the window just falls down after the regulator goes down. Is it an issue with it not attaching to the clip

Sounds like the clip hasn’t clipped into the glass or is broken.
