Fiat Panda 100HP - Abarth 500 Steering Wheel Install

I wanted to get a cool steering wheel for my Fiat Panda 100hp, and so I thought "Why not keep the OEM style?"
The Abarth 500 steering wheel is a great fit, the diameter of the wheel is still the same but it has the bottom of the wheel cut. Hard to explain but the video explains all ;)
It is a great and simple mod to change the atmosphere of your car.

It's definitely possible to install an aftermarket cruise control. As far as I remember you have to tap into the panda throttle pedal. I think if you Google fiat forum and search for panda cruise control, someone did the swap with instructions!

Was your old airbag 1 stage and the new airbag 2 stage though? Wouldn’t this cause an airbag warning light? I’m asking this because I have a 2011 Abarth 500 (that has the 2 stage airbag) and I want to change to a facelift Abarth 595 steering wheel (that has a 1 stage airbag)

The panda has only a single stage bought for the Abarth wheel I bought a single stage airbag. I think the airbag came from a normal 500 or 500 sport

Is the Abarth wheel a smaller diameter? I find my 100hp wheel is way too big.

Same diameter but the lower section is flat. Aftermarket steering wheel will get you a smaller diameter like Sparco or OMP

Not sure of any other options unfortunately, sorry. Later Abarths have different styles but not sure if they are smaller wheels

Love the exhaust! What have you done to it?

At the time it was a straight through Magnetti Marelli 500ss exhaust and a single tip Magnetti Marelli 695ss. Both are now discontinued as far as I am aware

Are the airbag plugs the same?

Can't say for every airbag but from what I have seen, models of 500 around the same age are the same plugs. Some model cars came with two plugs (2 stage air bags) so can't say which plug you would use on that case

do you know that is a Fiat steering wheel? not abarth, in US the abarth steering wheel is abarth logo, not fiat logo, maybe different in Europe than usa, I am not totally sure too, but at least my 2013 Abarth 500 is a abarth logo on the steering wheel.

In Europe the shape of the wheel is the same either Abarth or simple Fiat 500 S. The airbag itself is out of a Fiat 500 S. The steering wheel came off of an Abarth. Reason was because the Abarth has a two stage type airbag. The Panda has only a single stage airbag. The Fiat 500 has two or one but the airbag I found had one so fit my Panda

@@Pandamime I have seen that the single-stage Fiat 500 Airbags have a purple connector and our Fiat Panda has a green one. Does the green connector go into the purple airbag or did you also change the ring on the airbag to change the connector to purple?

I'll be honest that it has been so long I can't recall unfortunately. I think everything I did is shown on the video. I didn't remove anything extra nor do anything funky. As far as I remember everything was just plug and play

I think so. I can't say for certain but I'd imagine it is the same plus the controls may work too straight off the bat

@@bradrider662 it's probably a bit late, but no 500 wheels don't fit on the Abarth Punto. I know this because the guy I bought mine off found out the hard way, the splined mounting point isn't the same size as the panda/500.

The cables are the same but I can't guarantee that on different year models. But as far as I am aware it is the same

You may need to do some research on that. I think it should be ok but I can't guarantee it. This worked for me after researching for a while. My Panda is an 07 100hp

No, you will either need to repin the wires or get a control unit which interprets the controls to the radio

Can't say for certain "all" will work, but I have seen plenty of posts with steering wheels from the latest A500. The controls won't work unless you get a little adapter from eBay

Pandamime there video says it’s for an Abarth 500 steering wheel but all the Abarth ones I have found have the Abarth badge but yours has a Fiat badge. I was wondering why this is which you explained this was because it is a Fiat Sport Airbag. I wanted to know if it was because the Abarth Steering wheel was missing an airbag so you purchased a fiat one or you just didn’t like the Abarth airbag so you swapped out for a Fiat Sport.

The steering wheel itself is A500. The airbag is from a 500 sport. The reason I did that is because the panda uses a single stage airbag a500 (not sure if all) use a double stage airbag. Either way, the steering wheels across the 500 range will work with Panda 100hp as far as I am aware. I think others have tried an a500 airbag which are single stage or swapped the badges. I had purchased them separately yes
