Most doctors I have encountered are dismissive, impatient, overworked, and disinterested. It is so very refreshing to pretend like I’m his patient and I’m in his office. It’s therapeutic to me. This is what a real doctor sounds like. Thank you for dedicating your life to medicine and thank you for sharing your life’s work with us. You are a dying breed in America.

It’s such an awe full condition. Diagnosed 30 yrs ago, I’m 61. I’ve tried so many things it’s unbelievable. Still trying .... exercise is a sure way to cause a flare. I loved brand name ultram, now discontinued, generic tramadol makes me sick. So my life has drastically changed since no ultram. I had a very active life I could keep up with . Now I’m down most of the time. We need a cure ! So many people suffering.

I've had it for 30 years and have every symptom/condition you mentioned. Chiropractors do help me (using only the activator--never cracking, twisting, etc), but doing Arthritis Foundation exercises in the pool is the most help of all. With a big flare, though, sometimes I'm non-functional for years (as I am now). I was taking vitamin D supplements because of low levels, then found out from an endocrinologist that vitamin D supplementation can make you worse if you have parathyroid problems. The family practice doctor had tested both parathyroid levels and calcium and the results were supposedly normal--absolutely wrong for a 62-year-old, as confirmed by two endocrinologists. I'm hoping that after my parathyroid surgery, I'll be one of those who miraculously no longer have fibromyalgia. That doesn't always happen, though. I'm glad that you mentioned parathyroid abnormalities.

Thank you for this video Dr. Landow. You are doing many a great service with your informative, educational videos! As a long time fibromyalgia sufferer, I have found getting consistent adequate sleep and exercise to be most helpful. Especially sleep. If I don't get enough sleep, I am doomed for a flare-up. Also I have had success for several years with using Aleve for flare-ups. More recently, the flare-up was unrelenting and nothing helped. My doctor prescribed Elavil (amitriptyline) which knocked it out, but I was unable to adjust to the sedation. But the relief I got from the amitriptyline was long lasting, even after I stopped taking it. I will definitely try the amitriptyline the next time I experience a flare-up.

Hello 😊 would you please consider producing a video on panic attacks. I often hear that’s it is a fight or flight response but that doesn’t exactly explain why we panic, I don’t flee or put up a fight when I’m having a panic attack, I can feel trapped sometimes. Thanks 🤗
@ritesharora7456
@ritesharora7456 3 жыл бұрын
There is a lot of research backing your experience. To get started, you can start with the book - body keeps the score - where they talk about flight, fight, and freeze response and how your body learns this response and how the field has been grappling with it for so long including but not limited to DSMs versions. However, that's not the central thesis of the book, but it's there with a lot of other extremely useful information.

@@ritesharora7456 Thank you, I shall read it. All of my panic attacks are centred around being trapped, as young as three so my brain is well trained (I’m 50) . I wonder if you can actually cure claustrophobia, I can happily sit in a tiny room but if you lock the door 😱

The pain and other symptoms of fibromyalgia typically come and go over time. This is referred to as flare ups. However, some people make a full remission from fibromyalgia syndrome to become symptom free.👍

Dr. Sarno’s research TMS (Tension Myositis Syndrome) is relevant here. He theorized that CFS/Fibromyalgia is manifested in the subconscious. That’s not to say the pain and fatigue aren’t real. I had issues with chronic pain and once I started learning about TMS and how to use somatic tracking I was able to rid myself of the pain.

I did the 1 a day for 5 days then increased it to 2 day. WOW ! I was so sick. I cut back to 1 a day and my pharmacy would not fill my Effexor bc I'm on it. My dr isn't returning my call about it.

Could you please talk about some anti depressants or pain suppression drugs causing emotional numbness. I was on Cymbalta for chronic pain and after about 1-2 years I had no emotions in between indifference and anger. I had zero sense of urgency so let everything go by the wayside. My memory was affected in a major way as well. What are the best medicines to avoid these issues if one has a propensity towards these symptoms. I was prescribed Gabapentin but reading the lessor known side effects all of these were present so I’m fearful of it causing the same problems. These symptoms cost me my job and wrecked my finances and relationships. I literally stopped caring about anything or anyone. It was as if I was in a cloudy bubble and the outside world was going on without me. I finally quit Cymbalta in May and feeling like myself again emotionally. My sense of urgency has been restored, but suffering from chronic pain, sleep issues, anxiety and depression again.

Nicole, I have been diagnosed with FM also. I also have scoliosis, rheumatoid arthritis,osteoarthritis, degenerative disc disease and depression. I have tried EVERYTHING! I only get about 3-5 hours of sleep a night. I am always researching natural pain remedies. I just started a couple of days ago on 1,000 mg of magnesium. It has definitely helped me with my sleep. But, CRAZY dreams. Last night, I upped my dosage to 2,000 mg of magnesium. I can't believe it, but today I actually feel better! It might be something for you to look into. I have tried everything from apple cider vinegar and rheumatoid arthritis medication, A good quality CBD oil, antidepressants, exercise, which DOES NOT HELP. Ii even tried medical marijuana,that only helped me feel better in the head, but did not help my pain. DEFINITELY look into MAGNESIUM. I still have pain, but it is a lot better. I hope that you find something that helps you! Best of wishes to you!!!!!!!

I'm not sure if I should laugh or be angry about your stupid comment. I was (and still trying to be) an active person, working out hard, having an active happy life, being a bad-a$$ battling another condition that is not easy to live with - yet, nothing could keep me down. Two years ago my life suddenly changed, I'm living with pain all day every day, but still I do my best to stay active because sports is life for me, to keep my hopes up. And then Mr. Ignoramus here is telling me that I'm being lazy??? If by lazy you mean a freakin' FIGHTER, then yes! So are all ppl living with fibromyalgia. You know nothing about it, because if you would, you'd never say that we're lazy. So then, look at my profile pic. See? Just shhtt 🤫
