Unfortunately, there are not a lot of good treatments for GAD. If you don't respond to SSRIs, you really have few options. Buspirone is hit or miss, doctors don't like to use benzodiazapines. What's left, hydroxyzine? Many patients end up self medicating because they're not getting adequate relief.

The way my anxiety disorder comes out is like this. I am sitting in a situation that should be relaxing, a day off, road trip with my family, a nice dinner with my wife or even being at work sometimes. And I cannot help but feel as though something bad is going to happen or that I forgot something or some other nagging feeling. Everything is okay, I should be relaxed, but I am sitting there constantly worried about nothing in particular.

I take Buspar 3 times a day and it's helped tremendously keeping the constant anxiety, and intrusive unwarranted thoughts. I also have Xanax for panic disorder. @@irishman4671 it does take a while to do it. I will say about Busperone. Like the 3rd day my sexual life got 5x better. I'm 34 and I feel like 19 again. As for the psychological thoughts it gets better but it takes a while. I am starting to point out to myself on why I am getting so hostile or why are you worried about that? Or yeah that sucks but what can I do to get around this. It's awesome but it takes a while to really feel it's full effect. The sex part however took about a day. 😄😉 Placebo effect or not that was awesome.

@@mattmarkus4868 I am lucky I have a supportive wife and family to look after me. Depression keeps me in bed about 20hrs a day. I only leave the house to go to the doc and the chemist for meds. Anxiety is also bad and I have emphysema and a bad heart and liver so I'm always out of breath. I have sleep aponea and insomnia and other physical issues so all of them combined make me unable to work. I'm going for more tests and possible treatments but if they don't work I may get a formal disability assessment. My time is spent on KZbin and ebay with my only interest in lock collecting. Been on nearly every SSRI, benzo and SNRI on the book, ultimately Adderall is what helped my anxiety. It helped quiet my mind and get things together. Been on it many years and was very reluctant to take any stimulants knowing my anxiety history..but it really has helped so much. I also work out and eat well. I took Seroquel once for anxiety and it was by far the worst experience of my life. I know some people have success from different meds but it was truly terrifying. Great video. Thank you!

adderall and klonopin are the no.1 drugs for almost all forms of anxiety in my opinion, two completley different feelings but they work the best, almost impossible to get these drugs in my country yet doctors will gladly prescribe beta blockers, non-benzodiazepines // SNRIs // sleeping pills etc. without even properly getting to know their patient. Make sure you don't ruin what you got there because I've been trying for so long to get the meds I KNOW work for me and i've had no luck. Up again all night with insomnia to call my GP in the morning to let him know the propranolol i was prescribed for severe panicking, muscle cramps and intense anxiety does nothing but make my damn feet cold and chest tight.

Just took a beta blocker to calm it a bit which my gp did say I could do if needed. Seems just lately that this thing may be getting more frequent...and that's while on meds. Tbh I thought once I was on these things may be easier. I also have diazepam in case I get REALLY bad. Also I went over the Prince of Wales bridge from Wales into England months ago....and inside I completely freaked out.....heart rate increased, hands all sweaty...it was AWFUL..and of course I had no choice but to carry on driving..........and this was all because my perception of the bridge was that it was SUCH an OVERWHELMINGLY HUGE site, REALLY TALL AND HIGH..out in the open that my system just couldn't cope with it. Hell I can't even do a long distance driving job coz I just can't cope with being miles n miles out of my comfort zone. I may not have other issues that may be much worse, but the way it affects me personally....is TERRIBLE!!! And to top all this off my bloody ocd don't help either....having to keep repeating things til my mind is satisfied that they are done

I was diagnosed with General anxiety panic disorder in 2004. Not to down play other issues of everyone in here but I wish my issues were external "worry about going outside or social functions being around other people "or worrying about trivial shit to the point you may have panic attacks. There are still people out here thousands of people who saw or forced to watch a certain movie starring linda Blair in the 70's that totally mind fucked people. I was a little boy forced to watch that shit. And that has become an issue for me even though I know the truth. The what ifs or the could or couldn'ts....no satisfactory answer or certainty. Thats the shit I gotta deal with every day. Its so ridiculous yet can be paralyzing.

Apparently a lot of people have adhd, autistic spectrum disorder and bipolar,, and other illnesses,, at the same time, and also take a long time to diagnose,, IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE WHO IS OFFICIALLY DIAGNOSED WITH SEVRAL DISORDERS,,!!?? IME JUST INTERESTED AND CURIOUS!!

Comorbidity in psychiatry is very common. I have bipolar, panic disorder and probably ADHD. I read a meta-analysis study a while back that said 40% of people with bipolar also have an anxiety condition. In fact if you have bipolar with no other mental health issues, you are the exception not the rule.

I had a nervous breakdown 2008, spent 6months in hospital, discharged wrongly then another 6months, i was on prozac, onley,, they tried me on loads of meds that didn't work,, then finally, they. Put me on sodium valporate, temporarily, amitripytaline, and serequel, was discharged,, 2009, i new it was bipolar,, was stable for 12 years, ironically, 2020 was a great year, then bang, February 2021, it came back again, out of the blue, but felt worse, just avoided hospital, THANK GOD!! Ime still not right like, up and down. Doc give me lamotrigine, to stable the ups and downs,BEEN on diazepam, and zoplcone, on off, but the lamotrigine did nothing, anxiety cripples, u young or old, it's debilitating,,my parents are more active, than me, and there in there mid seventies,,anyway.ive been prescribed pregabalin, week ago, then does, es go up, its a permanent medication, funny thing is Ken put a video on about pre gabalin,, it was only 15mins long, which is short., for him,, some people I know are on it and say its a good drug for anxiety, it blocks nerve recepters in the brain, which causes pain, and nerves, early days now, then dos, es go up gradually,,ime guna watch the video,, kens view on pregabalin, again, cos he was a bit, qiuet, not like him, ANYONE OUT THERE ON PREGABALIN!!??

Sorry, I forgot to mention, it was bipolar 2, wot I was diagnosed with, about time, I also have 3 appointments coming up, cos the doctor reckons I have the traits for autism spectrum disorder,, apparently a % of people with, bi polar, have it,, and also adhd, as well, anyway, it's early days for pregabalin, on a low dose,, then it double,s, 3days time, not sure about after that, mite go up again,, i have to admit,, i have been feeling a bit calmer,, and had less pain, past 3,,4 days,, fingers crossed need to to be on an even keel,,cos I've had 8 months of pain,,suicidal thoughts, the lot, ,the 24,7 crisis team were slow,,not very sympathetic, awful actually, I walked out on them lastnite, cos of there ATTITUDE STUNK,told them to get lost,, THE ONLEY WAY TO SPEED THINGS UP AND GET, THEM ALL, TO. TAKE THINGS SERIOUS, WAS CALLING THE POLICE,, COS I SAID I WAS GUNA KILL MYSELF, AND THE CRISSIS TEAM LITERALLY SAID GO AND DO IT,, I WAS BLUFFING BY THE WAY, AND THEY SEEMED TO DOUBLE BLUFF ME, BUT THEY DIDN'T KNOW ME FROM ADAM,,HOW DID THEY KNOW I WAS BLUFFING,, ANYWAY, HOPE THE PREGABALIN, WILL START TO WORK AS THE DOSE GOES UP!!??

The anxiety started at the age of 33 with a panic attack, I have spent 24 years of my life in this brutal suffering, I have tried all the antidepressants, nothing works, only clonazepam helps me a little, my life is ruined, my self-esteem is low. the ground, not even God listens to me, I have tried to brainwash myself by telling myself a thousand times that I should trust, suffering 24/7, nothing makes me happy, I feel hopeless, my doctor doesn't even want to see me, the only hope for me now is to take propanilol to test if you can block the fight or flight adrenaline pattern, this symptom occurs especially in the mornings. It's not worth living like this, it's too much suffering! bestial!! I would like to do so many things, projects, find a boyfriend, travel, enjoy a simple walk! I want to be happy again, i was athletic, but doesn’t work nothing,,but 24 years of my life have already passed and I am exhausted, I don't know if the doctor has compassion and gives me propranolol at least to see if it works, im dying inside, I don't see a way out, die and rest maybe... ..😞

Doctor I just listened to your video of "Depression The Basics" and you mentioned we have no way of knowing why the depression is, Do you know or think anything about the testing of Doctrs Data? They measure the neurotransmitters through urine to help the doctor know what the deficiencies are. I also have the MTHFR gene which causes my body to not be able to use the neurotransmitters I have naturally occuring. THis was a Genesite testing. Can you please let me know what you think.I have been diagnosed with MDD and GAD>,

Has anyone here tried TMS therapy? A lot of doctors claim that it is the most brilliant and effective one without almost any side effect and they also claim that it works very fast and extremely effectively. One of them claimed once that all of his patients who have undergone this treatment are extremely satisfied with the results now. I haven't tried it yet due to the reason that it's a little expensive. Of course, way more expensive than medications. Anyhow, some doctors highly recommend this therapy.
