Rick Riordan was a middle school teacher for years upon years and he said that oftentimes the actions of his young characters are based on real students he had when he was a teacher which is why his depiction of children/young people are so authentic

Im way too late to this video but yeah, when you said the writing was easily accessible to everybody towards the end you were so right. I have difficulty with reading and even as a kid only reading childrens books, i had a way easier time understanding percy jackson compared to other ‘easy’ kids stuff.
