One thing I don’t hear a lot of people mention is how inaccurate the lighting bolt was. That thing was supposed to have the power equivalent to a nuke but in the movie Luke using it to fight Percy looked like Electro fighting Spider-Man.

The difference between the Harry Potter movies and the Percy Jackson movies is with Harry Potter JK Rowling was involved from beginning to end, where they cut out Rick Riordan for Percy Jackson, he even volunteered to help them to make sure it turned out right and they turned him down

I heard this actually happens pretty often when books (or similar stuff) are adapted. The directors and boards already don't value script writers a lot and they tend to look down on authors just the same or sometimes even worse. Which is so stupid, because if the author hadn't written a great book and wasn't a good story teller they wouldn't even have anything to adapt.

That’s one of the reasons I really like Luke, cause it is incredibly true to real life. Plenty of terrible people are charming and nice at first, but then they have hidden motives or a nasty side to their personality they don’t show you till way later. @@isaacbrown7936 I agree. Luke really feels like a big brother kind of guy, helping Percy find his footing. It’s great. I also personally really like Clarrise, her actress does a great job. And as a hole, I have minor nit picks, but this show does things right, way more then wrong, especially if you also compare it to the movies. It even has changes I really like, like Eddie not being friends with Gabe in this version. But that might just be because I like the line: “I’m the one going out, you’re going in. But I could only get through about 15 minutes of it before I said, no way. I was told never to watch the movies, and I didn’t believe that they were as bad as people said they were. But watching them, I was very surprised and shocked. Like, I legit thought that I was gonna be pleasantly surprised, or even if they were bad, they wouldn’t be that bad. But they are the worst things I have ever washed in my life. I couldn’t even watch the whole movie like I said I only got through 15 minutes of it before I said I’m not watching any more of it. And the reason I made my friend suffer through it was that I didn’t think I would suffer through it, but I was wrong. The show is way better.

Genuinely, if they removed Percy Jackson from this, this is a fun story. The fact that they ruined the movie and made this many changes, pains me so deeply. Coming from someone who saw the movie first
@Levleup Жыл бұрын
I actually agree, and this is coming from someone who’s a huge fan of the books! There’s a decent story, and the cast is really not that bad. It’s just not a Percy Jackson adaptation at all.

i saw the movie and series before i read the books, while the series is much better than the movies, the books are SPECTACULAR! holy shit i knew they were going to be good but DAMN

I will forever be grateful for having watched the movie before I ever found out about the books. That way I at least enjoyed it once. Now I can't even get through it.

Rewatching this with your video now, the show is so much better already lol

I really appreciated how you pointed out things you liked about the movie, and didn’t just roast the movie for the sake of roasting it. I’ve always held the opinion that it was ok as a movie, just bad as an adaptation. (And tbh, so far with the series…there are things about Logan Lerman’s portrayal that I like better than Walker Scobell’s, and I think some if not a lot of that is due to directing/screenwriting; I hope my opinion changes as the series progresses, many people seem happy with the show, and I wish it landed more for me than it is; I read the books in high school, over a decade ago now)

I hate the movies, however if I never watched the movies (I watched them before I read the books) I would have never read the books. Those movies brough me both pain and joy 😅

I had never heard of the books when I watched this movie and I fell in love with it. It made me look up the books and made me a PJ fan. After reading the books I agree the movie isn’t a good adaptation, but I choose to look at them as two completely different works and as that I think it’s a fun movie 🤷♀️

I hadn't read the books when I watched the first movie, but I liked it *gasp*, and that prompted me to read the book, I've pretty much read all of Uncle Rick's books since then

Totally off-topic but I just binged the first two episodes of the new show and will continue watching it until the third episode comes. WISH ME LUCK!!!

lol, I love the books… everyone told me not to watch the movies and I did anyways. So glad I didn’t watch the movies first! I’m a big fan of your things! I actually started reading because I wanted to understand the references 8n your shorts, and I NEVER watch the movies first. Thank you for postponing my homework!

Even Luke in the musical, it was kinda hinted that he hated the gods but he was such a nice and caring person just UGH

I have read the books (loved them) and seen the movies and the movies are for some reason two of my favorite movies ever. I also think that the fact they look older in the movies are super nice. Its the one thing i dont like about the books. Like there's no way a 12yr old did that stuff in the book but in the movies even tho they are supposed to be that age they atleast look 16-17 which fits more.

Def watch the sequel, I love the finale of the movie and how much of a complete mockery it makes of the book series and the mythos

I love the Lord of the Rings movies! I do think they are a good adaptation and that it keeps the spirit. But I would’ve love certain scenes in the movies that didn’t get added. Same as the Percy Jackson show there are a few scenes that I was disappointed that wasn’t in them. But that is what comes with adaptations nothing is going to be perfect with them. Plus I always have the books to go back to and I have my ✨ imagination ✨ and fan-art/fan-videos of to see scenes and moments I wanted to see.

I rewatched this movie yesterday lol. The cast was actually pretty good, even if they really shouldn't have aged them up. The problem is the terrible writing and the characters are really bad too

In my class, we got to choose a movie to watch, me and my friend Ezra are HUGE Pjo fans, and so we said, “ THE PERCY JACKSON SHOWSS “ but it was a show… so we turned to each other with a side eye and said “ oh no, we can’t do the movies… “ 😂

I would love to see your reaction to the Disney+ Percy Jackson show (i liked the 1st 2 episodes very much). Also I am curious as to how you will react to the 2nd movie if u "liked" the 1st one this much 😅

The note about having not watched the second movie yet gave me whiplash because for one brief, beautiful moment, I lived in a world where there was only the ONE failed Percy Jackson movie. It's not a pleasant world, but to be hurled back into reality where we got a second one that was even WORSE? Needless to say, I need time to recover.

the thing is, this movie is really good if you haven't read the book. if you watch it from a completely unbiased point of view, it's sooo good
@martaserra7125 Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't go so far to day it's sooooo good, but I saw it before I read the books and I can't deny that I liked it enough to see it more than once, buy the books and fall in love with Logan Lerman's Percy Jackson. But also I was a teenager when I saw and not a kid. I can see how the movie audience is completely different from the books'.

A dam joke let’s go!! She’s one of us. Do the second book and movie. Maybe do it for the series as well
@jow2716 Жыл бұрын
The second movie is even more terrible. It craps on the entire climax of the 5 books instead of just the one it was 'supposedly' adapting. You should watch it 😈 even if only to share the trauma and truly understand why we were so scared for the new adaptation!

@hiraeth.42 Жыл бұрын
oh no. She has felt real sadness and anger.... there is no cure Edit: can we bring attention to the fact that even the movie on its own doesn't make sense? Like, if there is rule that the Gods can't interact with their children... why is Luke so angry? It isn't Hermes' fault! He says "oh yeah the gods don't care about us" but when have they ever shown they do not care about their kids? The musical was so much better....

I’m one of those few people who actually really loves this movie 😭😭 it’s my guilty pleasure. Obviously if you compare it to the books, they changed so much and it’s bad 💀 but as something separate, it’s really good and quite enjoyable!
