Incredibly sad for Fabi, but could not be more impressed with Gukesh who simply exudes strength and composure at the chess board far beyond his years. Bravo! Happy for all the people of India! 🇮🇳

@@compositeur8455 painful to win the Candidates in 2018 in his prime, drawing Magnus 12 times in classical chess. Then go into the 2020 candidates and unleash perhaps the best preparation against MVL the chess world has ever seen, yet lose in a critical game with White against Anish, who doesn't win anyway. Fast forward to 2022 and Magnus throws a stupid and unnecessary rench in everyone's strategy by never making a definitive statement about whether he would defend his WC title. After rounds 3, 4, and 5, Fabiano was in *clear second place* but rather than stabilize and get 2nd instead of Ding or Hikaru, he overpresses and loses games because in his mind, 2nd place is not in contention. And who can blame him. And *this* candidates just added insult to injury with Fabi always in contention, with each round's results yielding all my fellow Fabi fans enough false hope throughout for the prospects of "World Champion Fabiano Caruana" only to earn a colossal heartbreak in Fabi's final game with Ian, where he was completely winning in 4-5 different sequences only for Ian to brilliantly find the only move that draws in typical fashion.

He did lose a couple of games. I heard in the commentary. He lost to ding and lagrave. But he has been just phenomenal in this tournament. Its just a case of Gukesh scoring sky high, if you take into consideration that loss vs Firouzja, he could have finished with 10/13 in such a field

To all those who are causing suffering in this world, directly or indirectly: Heed your dreams at night, those nightmares that you most assuredly are having are imploring you to change -before it’s too late… The quality of our dreams is both a reflection of our thoughts and actions as well as a general foreshadowing of the fate of our souls in the next life...A nightly, temporary karma that beckons us to change - for the good - so as to avoid a more permanent karma❤️‍🔥 Beauty(🌷)+Complexity(🌎) =Intent(❤️) The Figure 8 Analogy: An analogy on life, death, the dream-state and the symbolism intertwined within the human experience. We human beings are not traveling in the abstract motion of a straight line towards death (for instance, the numerical straight line of say 1-89). Instead, we are moving in the motion of a figure 8. The Figure 8 is a natural repeating pattern that is divided into two halves and is thus the perfect symbol to represent the human life cycle and our two primary states of existence that we are continuously moving in and out of -the Awake state and the Dream state. When we awake from sleep we come full circle to when we fall back asleep (represented by the bottom half of the figure 8 )and when we go into the dream state we come full circle to when we awake from the dream state (represented by the top half of the figure 8 ). Upon death; the figure 8 of life untwines, but it’s not the body untwining from the mind that this analogy represents. It's two states of mind untwining to form a larger state of mind (8-0)… Because the awake state is really a state -of mind with our body's physical reality "consciously" intertwined, and the dream-state is also a state of mind with our body's physical reality "subconsciously" intertwined. Therefore; upon death, these two states of mind untwine to form a “larger” state of mind. A state that has all the potentialities of the dream-world (flying, telepathy, psychokinesis, etc) combined with all the actualities of the awake world(nature, form, bonds, etc). This I refer to as the transitional analogy. While conceiving The Figure 8 Analogy, I realized life and death must be perceived -from one point of view- as seperate entities(the transitional analogy(8-0), but must also be perceived -from another point of view- as inseparable entities(the symbolic analogy👇), both of which are ultimately linked by the dream-state. The “Symbolic Analogy” consists of the untwined figure 8 of life/the “circle of death” ( O ) abstractly overlapping the ‘circle of life’ (Earth(🌎)with the overlapping area representing the dreamstate-like the common area in a Venn Diagram-and implies that the dream state is just as much a part of life as is of death (by which explains precognitive dreams, prodromal dreams, "visitations" by deceased relatives, etc) for the dream-state has a foothold in the afterlife; and is based on the premise that “while our body sleeps our dream state symbolically represents the state that awaits upon our body's ultimate rest.” In other words, while we are lying down and sleeping/dreaming, this natural process symbolizes where we go when we're ultimately lying down/dead -to a place like our dream-state...A state "of mind” with our body's physical form+Earthly bonds eternally engrained and intertwined. ✋🏼👁️~8~👁️🤚🏿

I've been following top level chess since Magnus became World Champion in 2013, his match against Vishy captivated me. This is one of the most painful losses in a game that I have seen in those years. After the game, Ian told Fabi "I'm really sorry", and Fabi replied, chuckling "My fault". Truly a painful moment. I wanted Fabi to win cause he's not that young anymore, and he really deserves another shot at the crown, being number 2 in the world for so long, but chess is a brutal game that doesn't care about anything, except for good moves on the chessboard.

Great commentary but did Danny really have to gatecrash the big finale after not featuring at all previously?! Who knows regarding other people's availability, of course, and maybe he had to step in... I hope that was the case. I gotta believe that at least one of the elite GMs (Howell, Leko or Polgar) were available to commentate but Danny decided to insert himself just because he had the authority. It was kind of embarrassing. Pretty sure Magnus would’ve stuck around longer if Danny hadn’t been there
@IceStationLatic
@IceStationLatic Ай бұрын
@@lobsterboy8148 You're completely on my wavelength. The assumption might sadly be the case. It's some ego to see how amazing the others are, yet still put yourself in the hot seat just to be at the centre of the glory on the final day. He joked about just being there only to listen to GM insights whilst manning the analysis board and 'drawing pretty arrows' etc (slower and less smoothly than Hess or Danya would have done, I might add); so, if that was the case, why were you there then!!! He was clearly pumped to introduce Magnus but limited the airtime for the likes of Danya (and Leko, Polgar or Howell, had any of them been there in his place), who can discuss a game on his level whilst also being pretty good at asking excellent objective and journalistic questions that Carlsen respects.

@GMNARODITSKY When the only outcome of value is winning, there is no victory in holding. We saw Hikaru "swindle" Gukesh simply by asking him if he wanted a draw (Qb5). You have an eval bar- they have cortisol.

Please someone explain at 5:29:50 why is qb2 not the best move instead of ka7. With qb2 its a win for black right?

Poor Fabi; he came so close but just fumbled multiple times at the finish line. Ian's Candidates luck would not let Fabi cash in, but it also wasn't enough to carry him either this time. Gukesh had his chance with the 13th round to pull ahead and took full advantage; then played a masterful game against Hikaru today.

Very sad for Ian. This would have been his third Candidates win, setting a new record, and possibly beating Ding after that heartbreaking loss at the previous WCC. Ultimately, it was drawing Abasov instead of winning that did him in. Who would've thought. Congratulations to Gukesh, but I will be rooting for Ding.

@@ArnavSingh-rg7bi Gukesh played well, but the majority if his points came from farming Abasov and pushing against a trainwrecked Alireza. He played strategic by avoiding the "big 3", felt a bit like he found a shortcut. I don't fault him for it, evidently it works, but Hikaru demonstrated more fearlessness while Ian demonstrated more resilience, making them both more deserving of the spot in my eyes. Abasov was the wild card of the entire tourney. It is what it is. I hope Ding regains the form he showed in his last game against Ian.

Ian will look back at his games against Abasov as where the tournament slipped away from him. Failing to beat him in either game, including being the only one to fail to win against him with white.
