If any other peeps could give me a hand, i'm super torn between this and the id22. I'm still scouting equipment out for my studio and was wondering how either of them would hold up, and if there's a preference based on the kind of work being done perhaps? Like if anyone knows how well they integrate with outboard gear for example, or if they've found the extra controls and i/o on the 22 pretty much make it worth the extra few quid, Cheers!

By reading the specs on the iDs interfaces I noticed than iD4 and iD14 have lower impedances on the DI inputs, is this bad for guitar and bass recordings? Btw, I would love to see you reviewing the Focusrite Claret USB interfaces too, IMO they're the direct competition to Audient, and not the Scarlett family.

I use the ID14 in University for desktop recording. I totally agree with you, it's very robust, plus the optional phantom power on both channels is brilliant for when using condenser and dynamic mics at the same time. I was wondering if you had any thoughts on the Focusrite Scarlett desktop interfaces such as the 2i2, or the packages they do that include a condenser. keep up the great videos!

I've heard of the word Phantom power but what does it do really?
@lassisalo8978 жыл бұрын
Condenser microphones need voltage to work, preamps supply this as phantom power ( +48V ) when needed. It can be 48V or much lower. Remember, ribbon mics will most likely brake with phantom power, dynamic mics don't care if it's enabled but they don't need it. Tube mics have their own power supplies.

Fully mixed track: WOW these preamps sound great because the tracks aren’t cluttering over each other. With your skills Glen, I’m sure you could make a Behringer or Scarlett pre sound just as good. It’s really misleading to attribute the sound of the final product to the quality of the preamp. Kinda adds to the “I need more gear before I can make music” syndrome that so many of us already suffer from. Im interested in the ASP800 as an expansion, but I am aware it will not offer me game changing sound. Because honestly, everything on the market these days is worthy of making a record. So many of us get caught up in thinking otherwise and then just never get started. It’s quite sad.
