Mine works perfectly! I always use Core Removal Tools and attach to Schroeder valve. Vacuum below 300 in 2 1/2 minutes. I love fieldpiece for HVAC!

After having trouble yesterday with a leak and a new SVG3, I decided to do some research. A lot of people are saying this gauge leaks on Amazon. I also swapped valves and hoses and came to the same conclusion after buying a new valve to isolate it and to be sure it has a leak.

A very simple and easy to use instrument ,for the cost well done fieldpiece ,expecting next version to be even more accurate and easier

I just bought one. It is super accurate. I don't yet know if it leaks internally, that's the rumor on amazon. I'll keep this updated.
@elmeradams87816 жыл бұрын
Turns out it does leak internally. It's too bad it's very accurate and built quite sturdy. But had to return it since I need reliable diagnostics.

the best hing about the svg 3 is the monster sized digits and the leak rate indicator being on a display bottom by itself and no other numbers to distract you. got a BluVac too, and sometimes all the numbers can confuse a guy.

... continued - I happen to buy a l lot of those new toys, sorry tools, and test them. So far I have a preference for the Bluvac but this one works fine too. I would've hoped that instead of a brass tee fitting they would've included a brass extension because there is rarely enough space by the access valves, especially when using core tools, to attach the gauge directly to it, like he's doing it in the demo. ...to part 3 i guess

I had this gauge. Used it three times micron reading all over the place had to use the guy I was working with his Bluvac all three times. Called fieldpiece not helpful at all. I now have a Bluvac and this gauge is absolutely worthless to me. The Bluvac LTE is about 20 bucks more and is a much better micron gauge.
@emsj8611 жыл бұрын
Yeh I use two 1/2 hoses with 3:8 and 1/4 ports. Than a vacuum tee. Than two appion vac rated core removals with my micron guage attached to the suction CRT. Very fast and works great better to not use gauges at all. Guages just add time and possible leaks
@JerryLynch23 жыл бұрын
Bought it last year. I have all the Field Piece equipment. I never thought for one min they would make something so worthless. I used it three times, total junk. It's in the bottom of one of my tool buckets. Why would you risk losing customers over 175.00?!
@peteaulit11 жыл бұрын
so yes, you want to have vacuum rated hoses and core tools because everything leaks, just at a different rate. yes, you want to be as close as possible to the system to read a vacuum, hence the gauge attached to the core tool on the valves. If not, you'll be reading a vacuum at the gauges or the pump. yes, try to eliminate as many mechanical connections as you can between the system and the pump. No gauges are necessary while pulling a vacuum if you respect simple procedures.
@pablogaviria92652 жыл бұрын
It would have been best to Mount the Vacuum Gauge DIRECTLY to the Blue Valve on the Recovery Bottle. That way the Vacuum gauge is FARTHEST AWAY from the Pump ! In order to get the MOST ACCURATE Reading.

nice micron gauge and at a nice price!! Question, do you make a 1/2" hose with 3/8 and 1/4 fittings?

Where can i get those small swivel valve on the vacuum
@peteaulit11 жыл бұрын
... continued part 3 - to answer someone's question about hoses, yes you can buy 1/2" hoses with 3/8 + 1/4" fittings. Amongst other brands, Appion happens to have a wonderful kit, the "megaflow kit", that works great. I priced out the individual parts and it's cheaper to buy the whole thing. I'm not working for them but just enjoy their stuff, like the TEZ 8 by the way, worth every penny ! ask away if you have more questions

if you pull the schrader to pull a vacuum faster, what happens when you put the schrader back in? you have start all over again
@khoatran95605 жыл бұрын
Thats the whole point of the schrader removal tool/valve. It has a valve to close off the system once the schrader is removed, and put the schrader back in without letting air back in.

Bc it rises up doesn't that mean you have a leak small but a leak or it that normal for it to rise up to say 800 or even 1000 over an hour
@khoatran95605 жыл бұрын
The reason that a micron is rising back up is because of remaining moistures. When you’re pulling a deep vacuum, the moisture inside the system freezes, and that couldnt be vacuum since its stuck frozen inside the system. You’re supposed to do triple evac with nitrogen. Thats what i do on my jobs, takes 30 minutes longer, but i can get a much more steady micron reading than without triple evac. What i do is let it vac to 500 microns, close off 3/8 vacuum side and open the charging hose with a little bit of nitrogen in it. Then close it off and let the nitrogen sit for about 10 minutes. Then open the 3/8 vacuum side. Rinse and repeat 3 times. I have the fieldpiece 4-port manifold with micron gauge. I pull down to anywhere from 300 to 100 microns, and would only go back up by 10-20 microns. Sometimes id get lazy and dont do triple evac, i could see microns go back up by 100-150 microns, still held around 500-600 microns.

several things I'd like to comment on here. - please go to Jim Bergam from Trutech Tools explanation about the Bluvac gauge to get better and more accurate technical explanations about the whole process and tools; this guy seems nice but not vey accurate in his explnations. - DO NOT tighten the fittings like a brute, just like he's doing, you will weaken and ultimately destroy the gaskets and create leaks. I have to cut the comment here....

Fieldpiece, please pull your brains together and make us a right micron gauge. U can do better than this. And by all means don't do it with Bluetooth, we need not 15ft distance range bit 500ft. So i can monitor it sitting in my car.
