Could you make a separate video on the manifolds and how to use every feature it offers

I've been doing air conditioning in Florida for 33 years. I'm 51 years old. I started doing ductwork. Got into installs indoor air quality and now. Basically I just do maintenances and service calls. And I just found your channel and I'm really loving it. It's got me a little rejuvenated for my trade. Because I'm sure as you know, you can get quite burned out, doing the same thing over and over day in a Day Out.

I use the probes for maintenances and a “quick peak” after a diagnostic. I use the field piece job link set with the probes, psychrometers, and clamps. I do however use my SMAN480v for adding refrigerant and major repairs. Just makes everything easier
@briancarlisi22248 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing as this takes time getting all the angle shots then editing. I strictly use the probes due to all the critically charged units I service along with walk-in coolers/ freezers that you can monitor the box temp when adjusting the charge on the roof.

Probes all the way. I have FP, but the JB wireless with the displays on the probes looks pretty nice. I keep a stubby for recovery. Analog manifold in the shop, collecting dust.

Charging mininsplits in the winter is easier with a digital manifold. I don't have one yet, but looks like I will need one going forward. Plus with this A2L stuff coming...

For the past 2 summers I've been using the Testo 550i manifold and it's very nice. But a couple weeks ago I picked up the Testo 549i probes and love them, should have got them sooner.
@tonymartin92718 ай бұрын
Awesome video. Both are good products. I use the manifold for charging or recovering. Probes are good to diagnose or just checking pressures during a maintenance. Another thing to consider is if you have the probes they're alot easier to take up on roofs or things of that nature.
@afbigfish12 ай бұрын
Why would you want to run vacuum/recovery through a manifold. Appion speed recovery setup direct with no manifold is much faster and less possible leaks. I really dont see the need for anything other than a set of analog gauges as a backup only for a complete set of probes. Manifolds are for the old timers IMO
@sammiches6859Ай бұрын
@afbigfish1 Recovery on most systems doesn't even take 10 minutes through standard hoses on a manifold (at least up to the 15-20lbs I'm used to). The vacuum takes the longest, but that's mostly a limitation of the vacuum pump, not the pipeline. I buy a lot of shit the veterans in my company sneer at, but I'm not worried about a 5 minute difference in a vacuum when I wouldn't gain anything by losing the manifold.

@@sammiches6859 Not sure about that a set of trublu hoses on any vacuum pump makes a night and day difference.

I’ve been running service calls and doing a few changeouts without SMANS. I use the fielpiece job link kit and analog gauges.

I just picked up the field piece probes but always had the first gen testos mostly for heat pumps, critical charge systems or awkward systems in ceilings (see heat pumps). I’ve always used analog gauges. My company won’t buy digital gauges but I don’t think I would either. Not a fan of screens outdoors and hate batteries dying. I’m sure those digital manifolds are nice but I like analog. Probes are nice for a snapshot of system operation for a report and quick maintenance checks while looking at a dozen units a day. Cheers!

Appion makes a Charging T that is a lot smaller then that little setup you have

Great tips on the Fieldpiece digital manifold gage set & the different ways you can use it. Yes, you can do a more in-depth video on the Fieldpiece wireless probes & the digital gage as well. I am ready to purchase the manifold so any & all information is helpful. The analog manifold gages seem to be very limited by comparison.

How do you connect/pair the wireless clamp probes to the manifold?
@hjc46044 ай бұрын
So you use one of the wired pipe clamps to get your OAT. Just clip it to the side grill of glue a magnet to the side of the clamp.

Field piece or yellow jacket digital manifold
@drwlpwasright51324 ай бұрын
I had no luck with the fieldpiece manifold, and got a classic runaround trying to have them give me an exchange or repair after 13 months. I only have their fieldpiece probe/clamp set up and have not used them as of yet. The yellow jacket is too expensive. I got the Testo 550 for $390 and the hoses for free.

what is the hose brand for 5/16 core remover? I found it super hard to get a adapter except 1/4 to 5/16.z
@Kiss-my-patu3 ай бұрын
Appion do one with a 5/16 connection point to the unit and have a 1/4" attachment point for your hose and a 1/4" outlet on the top for probes/micron gauge. I bought mine off Amazon, it's great. Fieldpiece also have an interchangeable 5/16 adaptor for their valve core removal tools. It is a seperate part.
