The Segue from this track in to Last Exit for the Lost is one of tip top nephilim moments.Said it before ,the Pink Floyd of Goth.

So glad you reached this song. Powerful indeed and anthemic. As an added treat, we hear more samples from the Name of the Rose, the movie by Annaud, with Sean Connery and Christian Slater performing the Sherlok Holmes-like intreague set in the 13th century at the height of yhe inquisition, from the book of the same name by Umberto Eco. Samples from the same movie stood out at the beginning of the album. Others have commented on Pink Floyd influence and I agree. I always saw Fields as the Pink Floyd's of post-punk.

Its funny - my two favourite bands are FOTN and Suede. I hope you do both of their next records - good JP month for me!

I liked this one in particular. It's unexpectedly low profile and it works. My favorite from FON is From Gehena to Here, a collection of singles before their first Lp, I guess. They had a sax!

Of course, without question you must listen to 'Last Exit...', but you should also listen to 'Vet for the Insane' and for something a bit different and perhaps more like regular heavy metal try 'Prophecy'.

He doesnt sing like this by choice. He burnt his throat when hot food got stuck in it as a child and it changed his voice.

@@paulcollins5586 good knowledge ,his voice definitely suits the music , I usually use subtitles for the lyrics anyway , but his voice is brooding over the music , it works well for these guys .

Very nice analysis and good on you to play such an epic song. One thing you and most ppl miss is how the singer is singing as the voice of God. No doubt you miss this bc “only moments rise” from their comas rise” but this element is what makes FOTN special and unique. McCoy somehow channels the voice of God. If you doubt this then just try and listen to any of their songs as if the song is being sang directly to you. No interpretations needed. No riddles to be solved. Just the sound of a distant voice singing directly to your heart. Try that and then tell me I’m crazy. Or “sweet dreams “… you know it’s a red or blue pill choice. I hope that helps you discover the depths that this band plummets. They are true psycho nauts and mystics. With remedies from the ancient gods. Carl is trying to awaken those interested into another world. These guys have a mission. They are not your typical rock band. They can reveal to the discerning listener not only another, higher world, but they demonstrate the highest expressions of art through the transformation of human consciousness. Blessed Be…
