Ollie, I am one of the aged ones and I would say , with only one exception( wildfowling), I have never used more than 30grm 5 in any circumstance. Most of my career I have used 1oz 6shot but of course we now have "high birds " The thing is, you have to put the shot in the right place, as you so ably demonstrated. Good work recruiting others to the most sporting of sports.

As I was traveling the last few days and had a layover at the airport, I got to see your input on the French Hunt in Fieldsports Britain and I listened to your interview on a BITA podcast. It’s great to see how you and Sasha have added to the experience of hunting and clay shooting around Europe and the US through gun reviews, range shoots, and hunts on quality video platforms. It was interesting to hear how much work both you and Sasha put into TGS videos to deliver a high quality product. Keep up the great work. Also, do you think you would ever do a series on TGS where you take a celebrity clay shooting and interview them regarding their shooting or hunting backgrounds? (I guess it might be the shooting version of “The Hot Ones” interviews or timing a celebrity track run on Top Gear.) I suppose there’s a few out there with rural upbringings who enjoy shooting sports and would own up to it besides Jackie Stewart… maybe?

Sadly Charley, the time is not far off with these kind of increases in fees when it will be only those earning £100. 000 plus a year , those born into money, or early retirees on massive pensions ,Lottery winners that will be able to afford a Licence to own a Gun of any kind. I’m a retired Keeper of sixty two years working on five different Estates in that time ,and now living on a basic State Pension (I’m now 81) and I certainly can’t afford £400 for a Licence, so I’m now regulated to my PCP Air Rifles. I wonder how long it will be before they price those out of people’s reach. Sad to say I think I had the best of this World when it comes to Field Sports . I think the weight of opinion will flow and gradually overcome those who are valiantly fighting to keep our Country way of Life alive. In the meantime I urge everyone who loves Hunting,Fishing, and Shooting to get out there and enjoy it well it lasts. And wishing you all a Very Happy and Prosperous New Year.

Great show as always, they did well to get out in that fog, and I'm sure they selected carefully, its not always easy to see that on a film, you can lose perspective and misjudge the situation, im sure every respect was given to the game on the day,

Couple of points, if I may? SGC fees - £400 for our certificates is acceptable IF we get a proper service and, ideally, if the term of the certificates is extended to 10 years from the current 5. The only reason to modify or rescind the certificate being if there is a change in the holder's circumstances, e.g. develops a condition that would be reportable by the GP. That would mean £0.77 per week. If it stays at a 5 year term, it is still only £1.54 per week which is not the end of the world but we must get a proper, efficient and unbiased service. Barefoot hunting in South Africa is not for the faint of heart and I would very much be one of those faint hearted, Jessies. Lastly, I'm not a fan of shooting in low cloud/fog but if you know the ground and where the beaters are and can put on a safe day, have a great day out! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all at Fieldsports Channel and in the wider Fieldsports Nation.

All this carry on with gun licenses will only affect legal owners. Not the criminal fraternity. If the criminal wants a gun he or she will get one. Pity help the person who tries to stop them !

Labour just want to stamp out shooting. Making it incredibly difficult for your average bod to acquire a certificate and hold a firearm at home.

Couldn’t agree more, certainly not ‘sporting’ to fly birds in fog, certainly not stratospheric birds which is plainly evident by the lack of any delay on the impact time from trigger pull. Would’ve been better to have cancelled and gone back on another day.
