Really enjoyed your program. Nice shooting on wood pigeons and good tips for the lead. I always say that it depends on type of gunpowder you are using, distance + speed of target and your reflexes on the trigger. Wish you dedicate a program on my favourite bird, hunting the woodcock. Keep it up. Many thanks from Malta.

I use some fishing line on the pigeon decoys to give them some movement, I tie it at the bottom of the neck and down near the tail end and place it on a hazel stick and adjust it so it's up enough above the flattened corn and even in a light breeze it rocks like a pigeon feeding raviously.

Excellent to have this on utube. 2 weeks later and already 16000 views. I hope you will diversify from the usual stuff on Fieldsport Britain. There are so many other aspects to shooting and fishing that we haven't seen on the British show. That reminds me. I never actually saw any fishing on Fieldspor t Britian.

Great first video Jason, good to see. Have eventually got round to creating my own youtube channel for my driven stuff, have got a couple of video's uploaded, can be very time consuming. I assume you will be doing some shows featuring driven shooting over the next few months? Would be great to see some of the Southern driven shoots as I only really shoot the driven duck and pheasant in the North here. (Oh it was me that FB messaged you last week or so) Daryl

Well done Jason! Great show. Just a point or 2 in relation to you shooting high on the pigeons with the semi-auto (SA): What was the length of pull on the Benelli? From my experience with lads in my club (Milltown-Moyvore), synthetic stocked SAs have a reduced length of pull versus ones' typical o/u or sbs. From experience, synthetic SAs have a 13"1/2 or 13"3/4 length of pull. I believe that this may be derived from the manufacturers experience that SAs are marketed to duck or goose hunters, who would gnerally be using heaving material clothing that would make up the difference in the gap on the butt stock. For example, placing your arm at a 90 degree angle and then holding the semi-pistol grip of the gun, was there a gap between the butt stock and your upper arm? If there is a gap, what is happening when you mount the gun is that your cheek is attaching itself to the comb of the gun at a point futher forward that you would on a normal o/u or sbs, and you are then adjusting your sight picture by raising the bead on the end of the barrel in order to revert to your instinctual sight picture. Consequently, by having a shortened butt stock, placing your cheek closer to the semi-pistol grip along the comb, and raising the bead, you are unintentionally raising the your barrel over your target. I encountered the same problem 2 yrs ago with my shotgun. However, my problem stemmed from becoming too fat to use the same gun that I have been using since I was 16yrs old. I would also like to point out that some of my experience stems from teaching people how to shoot air rifles for Olympic 10 metre (UCD Rifle Club), where gun fit is exceptionally important.

TOP DOG thank you. I shot well this day and I had an editor’s help to cut out the misses 😂. I’ve been lucky enough to share a hide with some serious pigeon shots and compared to them I feel very average!

Which choke do you prefer in a semi auto when decoying?
@adrianmorris45606 жыл бұрын
I just noticed Jason’s wearing the cens ears protection, I’m getting fitting for Ista Mold plugs in a week but don’t know if I should get the Cens electronics fitted to them, the guy saying I can go with just the filtered molds at €100 but I’m wondering if I should dish out the €335 for the added electronic’s, my ears ring some days after shooting and have already some lost after a recent hearing test. What do u think 🤔
@jasondoyle60616 жыл бұрын
Adrian Morris I’m actually wearing Vario electronics in this film. I have cens as well and I think you would be better starting without the electronics first. You can always add them later. It’s a big outlay and some people struggle to get used to the in ear plugs. The electronics are brilliant though if you can stretch to them.
@adrianmorris45606 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advise Jason, I think I’ll go the full hog and get the Cen electronics fitted as i want to be able to clearly hear others talking to me on club group shoots, I do a lot of shooting both rifle and shotgun so i’d use them a lot and that should justify the price, I just have to hide the receipt from herself 😉.

Robert Smith yes they are available from a few places. Jack Kelly in Wexford, Connolly’s Red Mills in Kilkenny, John Conroy in Laois and Mc Cloy gun’s in the North all have them. There may be more places stock them. If you drop Gamebore a msg they will give you a list of stockists
