The first Korn record, man. I’m currently 16, and I’ve been learning the bass for almost a year. After hearing the verse bass lines in Ball Tongue, I was like, “hey, I wanna be able to do that.” As simple as the bass lines can be, they’re lowkey soulful.😂 Listening to Korn for theory-abundant arrangements is like going to Pizza Hut for taquitos. Korn’s had that simple, heavy, and groovy formula for almost 30 years. It’s what made them them.

@richrobb29776 жыл бұрын
Jay _Hawk ibanez are good dont get me wrong, but they are one trick ponies. Its true. Though you can play other things, its geared towards metal. If you're getting into bass, or given the 1 year time of this comments upload, if you still haven't, just accumulate the funds regardless and pick up a Warwick. Great wood body basses with an ABSOLUTELY UNMATCHED tone. Warm and versatile. There's two potential cons though. 1. Price tag. (U can buy used for like a third of the price 400-600 for entry level. Don't be surprised If its shit condition though) 2. You might never want to play another brand again. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@CeeKayz0rz4 жыл бұрын
The low end is great for teenagers and such moving into their first instrument of the type, because parents don't have to fork out a lot of money for an instrument their kids might not even play after a year... If you're serious about starting bass, I'd say look at a budget of around $500-$600... You get better woods, electronics, strings, tuning machines, etc., which will greatly help your overall sound and keep you motivated to keep practicing. :) (I see the original comment is over 3 years old, so the OP probably has moved well beyond the SR250 at this point, but just in case any other newbies come across this comment, this might help them) :)

lol.... this guy always makes me feel a million times better about my ability/knowledge as a musician. Even as a self taught musician I at least made the effort to learn (still am learning 20 years later) certain things about music to better myself, especially the makeup of instruments and the variables that change the tones and way they play... bullet points taken away from this video. . bass is white . "fret thingy" - white . has batteries.... they do stuff also, surprised Ibanez didn't drop his ass after he basically said they stopped innovating new ways to produce instruments.... what a great spokesman for your company!! Just cause he doesn't care to grow and develop into a better musician, doesn't mean Ibanez did the same with their instruments.... still prefer a solid ass Jackson all day, but Ibanez does make really easy to play, low cost basses, least imo
@jays98699 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure Ibanez had plenty to go on. Fieldy didn't need to tell them how he wanted it to sound, because everyone knows how Fieldy wants it to sound, so all they needed was to perfect it's ability to play that tone. You don't have to know all that goes into a car to know what you want in it, and the same goes for instruments.
@Jeffmetal429 жыл бұрын
+Stabs McShanky sure, to get/drive a car you don't need to know everything about it but if you were a pro racer you should know everything about how it works and what makes it perform better, same goes for him being a "professional" musician and his rig. Hell, even if you aren't doing something professionally you still should have enough info to at least make an informed decision. I bet car dealers love your "blind buy" approach to life, have fun driving overpriced lemons the rest of your life.
@jays98699 жыл бұрын
It was an example, I actually do all the work on my own car. He probably doesn't know how to explain what the actual specs are, but I bet he sat down with the techs and they gave him examples, and tinkered with the mechanics and he guided the sound as they modified it, or something along those lines.

Translation. So pretty much I played guitar before bass, I went into a shop and saw a bass and was like Wow!, the neck is like, smaller and it has like one less string. Our band started doing better and became popular and Ibanez asked if I wanted a signature bass and I was like sure man! I don't know a thing about my instrument other than I slap it and it sounds pretty cool within our band because fuck it right I'm just percussion anyway!. So years later I give even less fucks, took a few pointers from Lars except I guess I can play a little better! not like a beginner can get worse than a beginner right! they make me a 20 year anniversary bass and I'm all like hey man, my hand slips all over this instrument! really strange cause I don't really hear alot of other musicians say this but hey, can you make me a white wood bass thats like.. white and not a whole lot else, even make the like.. fret neck thing white cause I wana be unique. They were all like sure and I was like aww cool man. I put glow in the dark strings on my bass cause it kinda changes the tone of like my style and hey I put stickers on it cause I'm like a 8 year old angsty girl.

+Philip Sebestyen he is a perfect example of a "musician" in a band for the sole reason to become a rich rock star. Any real musician who honestly loves music, no matter the genre they are in, would at least make a half assed effort to progress and especially learn more about their instrument(s). He stopped giving a shit completely once he realized he could coast off what little talent he has, called it a day, and focused more on the rock star part of being in a band. I'd call him an entrepreneur (not even a good one) and a hype man (still... not a good one) more so than a musician.
@Jeffmetal429 жыл бұрын
+Philip Sebestyen also ended up on a video of Mudvayne's bassist filling in for Feildy and his playing and tone made a MASSIVE difference in the heaviness of the music. They should have (probably wanted to) kept him but the fans are stubborn and only want the original members (example : still crying bout the old drummer when the new guy is 100x's the player). I know how they think because I was a teenager once.... actually used to like them til I picked up guitar and realized they weren't good musicians to look up to (why I went from Metallica, Sepultura, Pantera to Korn?.... well, it was a fad, that's all Korn are, a fad with few life long fans, hence them playing small venues mostly now.) Metallica is still playing arenas tho.

Not only what Toxic Potato said, but for some of us, we love Ibanez. I'm not sure which models you're playing, but most of the Prestige and Premium line are top notch guitars. And this is coming from a guy who has owned 50+ guitars in the past 4 years and has owned many custom shop guitars.

Loqtrall Yes, some of the Ibanez stuff is good. Most is not. Try looking up their custom shop and they are completely top secret...only for their artists. ESP, BC Rich, Schecter, will build anything for their paying customers. Ibanez has no idea what customer service is.

Sure, Ibanez only offers their LA Custom Shop to their artists, but they're not top secret. They just don't open it to the public. What's wrong with that? How does that translate to them not having customer service? I know for a fact that Ibanez will replace ANY, and I mean ANY part that breaks on one of their guitars. From bridge saddles, to tuners, nut blocks, saddle blocks, string trees, etc. You also might not know that The Ibanez LACS usually charges upward of $5,000+ to build custom guitars, and they pretty much up and up say that their top-of-the-line Japanese models are just a good quality as their LA Custom Shop customs. If you buy a top-shelf J. Custom or a top-shelf signature model, you're paying for a handbuilt guitar, just not MIA and not custom made. Just because the public can't access their Custom Shop doesn't mean their guitars suck and they don't have great customer service. BC Rich and Dean have shitty ass customer service, and their custom shops are open to the public.

I think it's the glow in the dark green strings not the bass that people react to.
