(and I've been listening to them since 1998) There's been so many artists/bands over the years where one often feel like "ok, I know what their sound is, no more surprises to be had". Not saying NW is completely unique, but they sure put me in my spot whenever I felt that "they cant surprise me anymore". I'm happy you've been pointed in the direction of NW, they are more than just a band, they(and their music) are an experience. It keeps surprising me that she can go from the growling to that angelic part.... love your reactions, I think I had the same facial expression every time I heard a new nightwish song. There are so many great songs.... romanticide or song of myself (wacken). The song that makes me happy is Alpenglow but I want my tears back is also very uplifting. Good reaction. Love this song. This one was especially written to showcase Floor’s skills. The growling/screaming for instance she does during the duet with Marco. She is amazing. Yeah, one of the (many) great things about Nightwish is the variety of music they create. From really light, folky styles (How]s the Heart, acoustic) to quite heavy metal (this song). Sometimes they even have several styles in one song!
