I had the exact same problem - failed the MOT too. At first I was looking at a replacement switch, using the Ford Parts site but the part looks nothing like the switch in the console. So I followed your video, took it apart, found debris between the rubber and the housing, cleaned it up and bingo - like new. Nice one!

Hi ...I've got same problem, how many pins did the plug have on the back...I'm sure the one I've ordered is 5 pin but there are 2 different switches so I've heard

With mine, it's the whole unit, I don't think you can just buy the plug.

Same problem - I am not mechanical minded, as I work in IT, but a different garage would explore the problem.

The problem will be a small electrical contact somewhere, which I was never going to attempt!
