Forester all day, it’s just an oddball of a car, this big old bus that’ll do 0-60 in 5 or less seconds is insane, that’s why I adore it, happily take one over an Impreza

I’ve owned multiple cars over the years, chopped and changed some of my cars regularly but one car I don’t move on is my Subaru Forester XT, cars just aren’t made like these early 00’s Subaru’s.

Got myself an imported 2006 Forester STI, back in Feb this year and what a beast. I have had BMW, Audi, Volvo, Rover (216 GSI - Honda engine), most brand new, but nothing comes close to grin factor and all round capability of a Subaru SG9 Forester.

I have a 04 XT manual and an 05 XT auto. The 04 with the VF48 is a beast. A lot of high end cars have got whipped by that old car. I don't think I be able to ever sell it. Either.

I have the 06 Forester XT Auto, only one previous owner - "Prodrive" 👍 It's embarrassingly fast (for the opposition) and a true sleeper with the dog guard in the back and tow bar off the rear 🤣

A golden oldie this one, must be 10 years old. The drastic fall in sales of Subarus in the UK since then is sad. Only 3,000 sold in the UK in 2018, compared to 50,000 in Australia in 2018 which has a third of the population of the UK

The German cars are alot cheaper over here tho we don't really need things like the outback and forester when the road tax is so expensive you could get a full size 4x4 and the impetza isn't as good as the golf r or Honda civic or seat leon cupra in terms of spec and to buy these sort of cars you can't be working at McDonald's.

They aren’t making exciting normal models anymore, you can’t get a fun non-sti/wrx anymore. You used to be able to get a 2.0 NA AWD Impreza and legacy with a manual box that we’re great to drive. And the legacy spec B with the 3.0 was a monster! Now they are all diesel and CVT and ugly as hell.

I've got the 04 sti. Peoples reactions to it vary wildly. Most people dont know what it is, but for some it's almost like seeing a unicorn. I had driving instructor tell his learner to stop so he could take a picture of it when I getting some coffee

I own a Litchfield JDM forester STI and it is a absolute beast with ISO clips in the back lol Mental thing, a good condition one now is worth over £16,000 for good reason there is not much like it.

Have an 04 Forester XT. Was teying to buy a Legacy but this popped up javing been owned by Victoria Wood for over a decade and I had a daft moment. I'm a Saab guy and have a classic 900t16s among others, including a 9-5 aero. The aero is comfortable, fast but has the personality of Ten Hag. The Forester is a blast to drive, hugely capable in the snow we het once a decade and has the personality of Brian Clough after a keban and six beers; Love the car. Also like the fact that it's sligjtly ugly, in an Adam Driver kinda way.

David Kennedy Yes it did: much more kick on power rpm. 2.0 Is still a great choice and much more reliable. Stock 2.0 and 2.5 engines will get similiar performance when remapped - 2.5 liter engine seems to have lower safety factor and cant take much power increase. Ive got 2005 forester 2.0 xt, 260 HP 400 Nm after remap. its incredibly fast and with susspension mods it feels like a sports car

The engines on the version 9 STI's are not reliable .How many engine rebuilds has the average STI 9 owner had? No doubt there will be some people who will say it's down to maintenance and they have had no engine rebuilds

@@MarktheRude I never said all the ej25 engines I referred to the ej25 specifically in the STI 9.my STI 9 has had at least 2 complete engine failure before I bought the car This is my STI 9 engine if you want proof Not sure what your trying to say with your smerky comments kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGjSc5igobhpicU As to why they fail there are many reasons ringlands break One of my cars previous owners suffered a cam belt breakage at 40k and the engine was replaced under warranty. As for some reasons 1.the oil pickups crack around the brazing 2.the engine has an open deck block so the headgaskets fail and the solution is making it closed deck There are many reasons but I will leave it to you to add a few to the list

@Mathieu Morin People don't change the oil coolers after an engine re build that causes all the metal from the previous engine failure to mess up the new anyone that's another reason people forget. And switching from maf based tuning to map also helps As does improving the oiling

Probably MY06 till late MY07. However it is possible to get a MY05 too already with the facelift (I got one, 11/2005) but some of internal equipment still from the pre-facelift models. MY08 is also mixed and you can get both Forester SG's and SH's

Second generation SG model. Produced from 2002 - 2007. Before they went all crossover-SUVish. My neighbour has one, while I have a 3rd generation SH model.
