Well I guess Tiff also wants to retire at some point. He already was on pre-2000 Top Gear, so he's been in this business for a loong time now. But yeah, I really enjoy Tiff, he's so likeable.

A handful will let their hearts rule their heads and go for the Alfa but the safer bet would see most people head in the direction of the Mercedes.

c'mon man, italians were good in the past , but they don t have the resources today. Look at any categorie of cars . F1 -rubish ; Hypercar- not as good as the competition ; Supercar - again , old Mclaren 720s is faster then the new Ferrari pista and the new Porsche turbo S will demolish thw Ferrari, SUV -s ...; Super sedans -nothing there ; We have this Alfa in the baby super-sedans class, but that s about it. Afordable cars for common people - nowhere to be seen . When cars were soul and passion , Italian s were masters . They were . Credit to them . But we live in a wold where cars are made from brains, mathematics and compromise .The italians struggle to survive .

Germans, Americans and Japanese are about industrial scale..English are small number bespoke producers and Italians are about design, charisma and ingenuity. That is why Ferrari is the oldest car maker and never spends a cent on Advertising. It’s not always about industrial might.. let’s take an example, the 959 was a technical marvel, then you had the Italians with the F40.. a brutally simply light weight race car .. I know which is more coveted between the two today.. Italian passion and design goes way past the sum of its parts where it creates a personality..germans have never been able to do this. All car manufacturers go through phases and there was a stage when RX-7’s punished the Porsche 3-0 in our Bathurst races in the early 2000s.

The Alfa QV can be had for around £30k used with around 30k miles (roughly 3 years old). Depreciation wasn't very kind but for that kind of money you can't possibly go wrong if you pick a good one. I would even say it is a bargain.

Unfortunately they made a mistake in their description of the Alfa, the QV is not a suped up version of the Guilia, its actually the Default as built spec for it, the other lower models came after, its a small quibble but it matters its like saying a more accurately the AMG C63 is a suped up version of another platform not the other way around =)

The Alfa is one example where it DOESN'T look better in person. Just my opinion. If i watch pictures of it, it looks stunning, but i have had a few drive by me now, and meh... it really doesn't stick out. But sure, the Mercedes is almost common here, nothing which makes you turn your back if it drives near you.

Wow. That was so enjoyable to watch a great funny review of the two cars I myself looked at a year ago. I bought the Merc but this review confirms that the Alfa is just as good in a smaller balanced chassis and more fuel efficient car. In the end, I fell for the V8 as they don't make as many any more. i am already an Alfa Romeo fan, grew up with them. My dad alays drove and still does drives an Alfa Romeo. Seen the bad Alfa Romeo times, but it has always been a petrolheads car. The Merc is for boring bussines managers without any imagination. How well the C63 does? does it matter? Always choose for the Giulia. I did buy me one when it was introduced and now do drive the Stelvio, Just bit more family orientated

Both are awesome cars, I went for the C63s Estate. Because stationwagons with performance are just more special. But also Mercedes has a great used car warranty. Not gonna track the car anyway so that little more trackperformance is not so important.

that mercedes is actually a death trap. Unless you are really an extremely professional driver you will just kill yourself in it. The Alfa pissed all over it. It was held up for most of that lap because of Tiffs driving style - if they did it as a time trial it wouldn't even be close - I reckon the Merc would be a full 3 seconds slower.

Johan Kriek Maintenance & Reliability...??? Mercedes is cheaper to service, cheaper in parts, reliability is better on every level, Mercedes engine isn’t over complicated with emission system hoses for air and coolant just to get within EURO specifications... These are two completely different perspectives on vehicles made in different countries, may have similar power figures from the engine may be the only thing they share otherwise that’s where it ends..

@@Incountry I work in the high-end, used vehicle industry! Mercedes cars can be utter rubbish nowadays and took a quality-dip, while ALFA became much more reliable, and better built compared to the past. Credit where it's due! Mercedes might be a bit cheaper on maintenance, but the Alfa is soo much nicer, and special. (And where I live, we don't give a damn about emission devices, so we can legally remove catalytic converters or those stupid DPF's) The only problem with Alfa's is the (still) poor re-sale values - making it a great buy when used! (And more fun / exclusive / better looking / faster compared to the Berlyn taxi...)

You called merc taxi yet ignored that reason why taxis use them in first place is precisely because they are reliable and top notch build quality. You won't find a taxi company using alfa because it will be broken down all the time no business. Wrong. C63 is way better. It sounds way better. Way more comfortable. Way faster. Way better interior. Way better resale value. Also can come as estate unlike alfa. I could go on and on.
