The fanfic community has made their sentiments of James' attempt quite known. And there's some crazy fics out there.
@sleepysera4 жыл бұрын
@@BonaparteBardithion I think the main thing that bothers people is that she had the gall to take money for it. Fanworks are a thing we do because we love and appreciate the original, profiting off something that wasn't our own idea is the complete opposite of the respect most fanfiction writers hold for the works they write for. As you said - there's way crazier shit out there. But the authors of those have the sense to KEEP it as fanworks and that's all.
@BonaparteBardithion4 жыл бұрын
@@sleepysera I don't think it's a problem for authors to convert fanfics into original works, especially when the work has differed enough from the source material that it's barely recognizable. In that way, fanfics can make an excellent first draft. (Or proof of concept, anyway.) The issue is her complete refusal to change anything but the bare minimum. On top of that, it's hypocritical to get on people's case about derivative works when her novel is itself a derivative work.
@sleepysera4 жыл бұрын
@@BonaparteBardithion "especially when the work has differed enough from the source material that it's barely recognizeable" That's the key right there. Master of the Universe can VERY clearly be recognized as a Twilight AU fanfic, and there was basically NOTHING changed in it's transition into 50 Shades either. Say about stuff like "After" what you will, but at least they don't read as obvious One Direction fanworks and can stand on their own (even though they still suck).

You are not the one having to carry the baby and give birth with the high risks of damage to your own body that usually happens with most mothers. Also lets take a little look at the gender pay gap, turns out a large percentage of women will not be hired or will lose their job and opportunities for wanting to start a family so no fvcking wonder mate, piss off. If a man wants to start a family with a women he should find someone who is WILLING and also wants to start a family. Theres a reason abortions are only available for a certain time period, its only a clump of cells and hasn’t even developed to have a heart beat yet

He's absolutely justified in both blaming her and not being okay with the pregnancy. In the books though, it is very specific that they DIDN'T agree on a form of birth control - Christian forced the shots on her because he doesn't like wearing condoms. Then HE drags her halfway across the globe and keeps her constantly busy so she has barely any chance to even get her next shot.

@@BonaparteBardithion Which, to some degree it is, if you measure it in time and attention spent. A baby WILL take time and attention away from him to some degree. Of course, the idea that she has to devote 100% of her love and devotion to only him is fucked up in the first place.

It's not even good smut. Not even average either. A grown woman describing her lady parts as "down there" and her lust as "her inner goddess doing a flicflac over the sofa" or whatever is not sexy. I really appreciate how you pointed out that Christian had an equal part in the pregnancy - where Christian was getting mad at Ana for missing her shot, and the added commentary about how she has to go through all these side effects just so he gets to do what he wants however he wants. Overall, I love your videos, especially when you pick apart really horrible movies. Keep doing you!

LittleLion21 Those contraceptive shots and pills really mess up women’s bodies and raise the risk to ovarian and cervical cancer,but as long as the men feel good who cares,right?
@sleepysera4 жыл бұрын
@@barbara9315 If both partners agree on using that form of contraception it's fine, and it's justified to expect the one who uses it to keep up with it (or notify their partner if they want to stop, so a different form of contraception can be used instead then). I can't tell my boyfriend it's fine to have sex without condoms because I'm on the pill when I'm not, that's on me. Of course, in the case of these books/movies, the shots were forced on Ana by him because he doesn't like wearing condoms, so f*ck him; she never freely consented to using that form of birth control in the first place.
@vi61264 жыл бұрын
@@barbara9315 Hormonal contraception actually decreases the risk of ovarian cancer, which is a big plus since that kind of cancer can't be found with a routine screening and has an high mortality rate. Cervical cancer is almost always caused by HPV (a virus). Hormonal birth control users have slightly higher rates of cervical cancer because they tend to use condoms less frequently, so they're more likely to contract an high-risk strain of HPV. People need to be aware that even if they are on the pill, using condoms is necessary or strongly recommended in certain situations. But blaming hormonal BC because it doesn't protect against HPV and other STIs is like blaming condoms because they don't regulate periods or treat acne.

It still astounds me that this is not a story written by a man who was living under the illusion that women like this type of men and relationship. But NO. It was written by a WOMAN and thousands of WOMEN love that story. What is wrong with the world?
@waltermh111 Жыл бұрын
Yes, because feminism lied to you to make you believe men are such horrible people. Its us men saying wtf when 10s of millions of women were justifying this crap. Women pushed for the sexual liberation movement, not men. What did you expect to happen?
@dicknock3711 Жыл бұрын
Respectfully? You look like those weird idiot women who judge women all the time just because they don't submit to their values, you sound unbearable to me. Say it with me, for fuck's sake, this movie is AN EROTICA. AN EROTICA. Repeat after me and for all those idiots in this comment section, it's not supposed to be a real drama movie, it's supposed to be an EROTICA. In case you don't know what an EROTICA is, it's basically softcore porn. It's made to satisfy many of women's desire to live this fantasy where you have this super rich and handsome man running after a simple and nerdy shy girl and then some drama happens and she always goes back to him and he "cares with her" and stuff that makes her feel so "loved" and "wanted" It's not supposed to be a real story with a real conflict. It's just some porn for teenage and adult women with fetish. Everybody knows that this story isn't healthy in any way possible but this is what happens when you turn an erotica novel into a movie, you get this. Sorry for writing all this but I'm just sick of people complaining about this movie all the time as if it's something cool, this movie isn't made for you, the fact that this movie was a box office success albeit its negative reviews is enough to tell you about the kind of the audience that likes it, hint: IT'S NOT FOR THE STORY.
