This movie kinda reminds me of True Detective S1 in terms of there just being an assload of quotes in both of them that reeeally make you think about the way *you* think. I love it

Just recently I moved from Vancouver Canada to Brisbane Australia. I sold everything and only had two suitcases and a backpack full of stuff. What I love is that I don't need junk to define me. Drop me in the middle of somewhere and I'll find the things I need to survive and thrive.

society has gone opposite of fight club. People want that six pack, anyone and everyone now can be a rockstar or celebrity thanks to youtube. Millenials lost generation would kill to have a boring office job. Ikea is now more popular than ever, amazon sales through the roof, everybody needs a smartphone.

+mrzack888 Fight Club was just ahead of its time I guess. The reason consumerism has held on for so long, and likely will for years to come, is simply that it appeals to too many of our primal satisfactions. In America no one is hungry- you literally have to go out of your way to die of starvation. People are comfortable and it is only until people seize having their comforts met that change can occur. Until then we'll laugh our way to oblivion like Rome.

That’s why this movie is so great. It is fundamentally a fascistic critique of consumerism. It struck a chord with young white males because we’re the ones most alienated in this culture. We’re only used to hearing a Marxist critique of capitalism. This was a fresh angle for a lot of our people.

Yet, despite acknowledging that, you waste your time in some virtual world called KZbin, trying to impress virtual people you don’t know with your smart comments, and all that virtual world can and will disappear someday at a snap of a finger of some corpo exec that sees no profit in continuing. How sad you are. Oh, wait... that’s me.
