Wow. Haven't seen Ding play this well since 2023!

I am delighted he played well here. But it's only one game and blitz/rapid at that.

I really liked the McDonnell LaBourdonais echoes in the ending. Yes it is delightful to see Ding playing well. Thanks Daniel.

Daniel you are the best teacher of chess in the whole Net, by a long margin. You have a natural way of explaining concepts and make chess entertaining. My full respect and appreciation. Cheers with my Queen in Siberia mug 😁

Thanks Daniel. I really appreciate your hard work. I've nothing against Hikaru but I'm so glad Ding did that. When I saw this live, the commentators pointed out some spectacular possible finishes involving underpromotion. Perhaps you could show that.

Err....it's a bit late to show any of those variations...if they are at all relevant.

Delight on my side too for Dings recovery. Nice example of centralization inderd with powns getting rolling. Thanks for showing us.

Nicely done by Ding. I hope he finds his way in whatever path he chooses.

Good to see. Maybe he needs a longer break from competitive chess to sort out his problems, but possible he might be able to play a match this year.

Dominating Naka #2 in the world with black is rare and a great sign for Ding. Congrats!

It should be noted this is the armageddon game, as the classical was drawn. We're all rooting for Ding to get it together, but let's not get carried away.

At 11:32 instead of Qa2 why not play Rb7 right away?

To win a complex unbalanced position with Black against Nakamura with less time on your clock…
@RangeWilson7 ай бұрын
Very odd opening play by Nakamura. It's understandable to try to reach an unfamiliar position, but not if it's outright bad after 10 moves.
@djgresearch7 ай бұрын
Actually, I believe he plays that a lot online.
@PowerPlayChess7 ай бұрын
This is blitz / rapid where one can often get away with playing something sub-standard if it creates an unusual position and forces your opponent to burn some time.
@davidblue8197 ай бұрын
Under a condition of psychological desperation Ding Liren bet everything on classical chess and classical chess paid off for Ding Liren. I think this is a clue to how Ding Liren may play when under pressure against Gukesh. He'll reach for that same life preserver.
@michaelblankenau65987 ай бұрын
Except they’re playing Armageddon which isn’t classical chess .
@davidblue8197 ай бұрын
@@michaelblankenau6598 Yes, but even so, he reached for that life preserver, and it was there and it worked.

Nakamura isn't very good in time formats that don't allow him to flag the opponent for being such a high rated player.
@drnantz7 ай бұрын
Nakamura had the chance to play for the title and he just gave up the chance by playing terrible. I think on purpose. He just didn't want to be there.
@PowerPlayChess7 ай бұрын
I doubt that.

What possible basis could there be for that ? Makes zero sense.
