Don't forget people! For the Fighter/ Rogue multiclass, you can action surge and hold your action until the next creatures turn to get a second sneak attack off in a round. Rules as written it's one sneak attack per TURN not one sneak attack per ROUND, so if you somehow attack on another creatures turn sneak attack applies.

@DoomsdayR3sistance Жыл бұрын
But is it worth doing this? when you ready an attack, you forgo extra attack, which means you're trading potentially multiple attacks to get the sneak attack damage. While what you say is correct, I just don't think it's a good way to go about it.

@DoomsdayR3sistanceАй бұрын
@@kjj26k depends you only get 1 reaction and you have to set-up your ready action correctly to benefit from it. If you went to fighter 5, then it becomes questionable but this isn't the real question. The real question is, is it worth taking the multiclass in the first place, to which, I'd say not really. You're delaying gaining additional rogue features in favour of getting a few action surges per day. Basically there is a lot of ways it can go wrong in. It's the old, does better on paper than in practice type of build.

Figthers also have the added benefit of being the only class with an either/or multiclassing requirement. If Fighter only allowed multiclassing with a 13 in Strength like Barbarian, it would be a lot less appealing. ^^^^ This. Some times I take levels in fighter JUST for all the feats. It allows me to set up these god-tier combatants with a lot of personality. Especially since a lot of classes lose their potency past 10th. The fact for me is that a lot of level 14-18 abilities aren't worth taking, and keeping a campaign difficult is a lot more about HP count than having a cool ability.
@AgentForest Жыл бұрын
Warlock and Fighter are both short-rest classes. You can get your slots back on the same short rest you get all of your fighter features back. This makes it really good to combine specifically for utility spells and invocations. A Celestial Warlock can dump healing spells and Second Wind before a short rest to save on the number of hit dice people have to use, really helping in sessions with a lot of fights. Fathomless gives you a tentacle that weaponizes your bonus action, slows people, and in a longer campaign can help lower damage people take. Fiend Warlock lets you get temp HP every time you kill something, then just stay as a fighter. The pact boon effects can sometimes be useful, like giving your talisman to your healer so they are better at maintaining concentration. For invocations, Devil's Sight, Fiendish Vigor, Gift of the Everliving Ones, Rebuke of the Talisman, and Tomb of Levistus all have great uses for a front-liner trying to protect their party. TL;DR - I'm not saying Fighter/Warlock is an S-tier or anything, but it's at least a C. Warlock is one of the easiest full casters to multiclass with because so many of its features simply aren't spells, or don't require spell slots to get going. They're such a weird class that you can usually jury-rig them onto almost anything and find weird interactions that work somehow.

One thing you may have missed with Druid is that any subclass that gives you an alternative use for wildshape can be of useful as a two level dip. Wildfire basically gives you a decent little familiar with bonus action uses. Stars gives you a bonus action ranged attack, healing buff, or a buff to checks AND free uses of guiding bolt. You already covered spores. So, adding shilleglah, you get some pretty interesting combinations from a two level dip (or more levels for added spells).

You take unarmed fighting style, and with one level of Monk, you get the unarmed defense, you’re allowed to use Dex instead of str for your attacks (which are 1d8 now), and an extra attack during bonus action. You’re getting to play a Psedu monk with a 1d10 hit die, and as you progress/take subclass in fighter, you’ll get extra attacks. Picking something like echo night which gives you extra attack (based of con) and some more mobility, or battle master which lets you do all those fighting maneuvers. It's A at worst. Fighter 5-7/Warlock X is gonna be better than Fighter X at pretty much every level
@aimerw Жыл бұрын
@@Blossom_Nova This is a problem with the Fighter class in general, since the only standouts it offers is the subclass (Battlemaster/Eldritch/Echo) and Action Surge, and then eventually Extra Attack (2) at higher levels. Fighting style is also great, but not unique. Yeah, it has extra ASI/Feats, but that depends on finding good uses for those AFTER the good uses for those you already found. Arguably, CustomL/VHuman play down that strength, since you are usually just looking for two Feats of note (XBE+SS / PAM+GWM / etc.) and the Fighter doesn't get that sooner in such a case. Fighter 6 for the third Feat can still be good for some builds, but past that its grasping for great options. Some Fighter Subclasses have a good Level 7. So yeah, Fighter 2-7/Anything X tends to be stronger than Fighter X. The problem for this video series is that there is a stated rule that you have to be looking at a build with at least as many Fighter levels as the other class. Which kind of is problematic for this because if you stop at for example Fighter 5 you are only good until level 10 with the multiclass, because then you have to pick up more Fighter levels to still 'qualify', which you don't want to do. If we are saying Fighter 5 / Something 15, that isn't really a Fighter who multiclasses as much as its Something else that multiclassed into a little bit of Fighter. While, Fighter 5 / Something 5 at level 10 is, but we kind of have to ignore the other 10 levels to state this is a good multiclass for Fighter. Likewise, there is a difference between a dip and full-on multiclass. A number of people wouldn't consider a dip to really be a multiclass character - just a character with a dip. If I take Cleric 1/Wizard X, am I a Wizard who took an S tier Cleric multiclass, or am I just a Wizard who took a Cleric dip to get good armour, a shield, and some excellent level 1 Cleric Subclass features (Emboldening Bond, etc.)? I really think the community poll needs: A) Explicit instructions that the main class has to have at least as many levels as the multiclass, so that there is no contamination from the treating the main class as just a dip (which for example Fighter excels at). B) Ranking each muliticlass in order, up to an optional degree (so you could just rank the top three if you like, or the top six, or all twelve multiclasses in order if you like). C) Two polls: dip potential (1-3 levels of the multiclass), and balanced potential (keeping the main class and the multiclass within a few levels of each other). Rogue, for example, is great for the dip, but balanced potential is lacking due to how Sneak Attack works - while going full Rogue and just dipping Fighter for Fighting Style, Action Surge, and maybe a Subclass Feature is great, but thats is a main Rogue, not Fighter.

Fighter/ sorcerer is S-tier. I think the biggest oversight with the fighter/ sorcerer build is that it makes a remarkable gish, probably THE BEST GISH IN THE GAME. It's a great way to implement an arcane variant of the paladin. Action surge and quicken spell make it so that you almost always have the ability to cast level 1-9 spells during combat. This is your replacement for smite, and it has WAY more flavor. Use booming blade and greenflame blade to give you the damage of extra attack without needing the feature. Use GFB in crowds, and use BB in single combat and step back to force a brute to proc the damage (your AC will be fine with this). Quicken spell, twin spell, and heighten spell are your bread and butter. Use these to put out clutch buffs and save/suck spells (like levitate). The build comes online at level 5 using custom lineage (meta magic adept) fighter 2 / sorcerer 2/ hexblade 1. Next take s3, f3, s5, f5, s7, f7, s9, f10. And you've essentially created an arcane version of the paladin that can do some crazy crap. If you want a bit more fuel for casting, get to f3/ s7/ w1, and then alternate 2 levels of fighter and sorcerer at a time, stopping fighter at level 7, with a final goal of f7/ s12/ w1. You can buff and attack on the first turn. You can set up a spell that wrecks enemies with your bonus action. Use the war magic feat to get more uses out of booming blade. Set up a hazard, and then pull and push enemies into it with lightning lure, thunderwave, and pulse wave. For subclasses, avoid the 3 fighter subclasses that use intelligence. The rest is dealer's choice. Rune knight, cavalier, and battle master can all do nasty stuff with this build with minimal usage of your bonus action. Draconic sorcerer is sturdy, divine soul brings the smite online, storm soul grants some great mobility, but any sorcerer works great for this build. Wild magic is always hilarious, and would add even more magical madness to this build.

I'm playing an Eldritch Knight/ Wizard right now. Giant's Playground has an incredible article on the benefits of multiclassing the EK. It's best partners in the wizard class are as follows: blade singer, chronurgy, and divination for dex fighter builds; and evocation, war mage, and abjuration for str builds. Chronurgy and divination have great insurance for making your saves good and your enemies' bad, and a well placed levitation or hold person is combat ending. Abjuration and war mage add significant tankiness to the build's HP and saving throws, respectively. Chronurgy, and war mage boost your initiative through the roof. Bladesingers can be pretty tanky, but the EK already has the highest AC of any fighter. Bladesingers add Int to Concentration saves, but you already have high Con and proficiency (my fighter almost never loses concentration), plus you can go overkill and take the war mage feat. Bladesingers can replace an attack with a cantrip, which definitely synergizes well with the EK bonus action attack after a cantrip plus the SCAGtrips. It takes everything about the EK and dials it up to 11. This also brings up the fact that you don't need more than 7 levels of EK, because their cantrip + bonus action attack means that you actually keep up just fine with the full attack fighter at any level. You literally don't need to worry about getting anymore extra attack at that point. However, the 10th level EK feature forces a better gish play style, because attacking makes your spells more likely to be effective. It's a very fun and tanky build.

Just going to throw this out for Fighter/Wizard, Abjuration Wizard is pretty good. The Arcane Ward can make any fighter a little tankier by a little bit, and for any Dexterity based fighter Mage Armor is a great grab. Combine with go to spells like Shield and Absorb Elements and you’ve got a great little combo and that’s just for any Fighter, it’s an amazing combo on an Eldritch Knight.

@@mattf5935 i specified Dex based fighters for a Mage Armor grab since it’s better than non magic light armor. Mage Armor wouldn’t be as useful for a fighter that’s more strength based. Speaking personally, whenever I'm playing as a martial, I'm always super tempted to dip into the arcane classes (sorcerer, warlock, wizard) for 1-3 levels. The reason being that the arcane casters have a bunch of low levels spells that work great on melee characters. Absorb Elements, Shield, Longstrider, Blur, Mirror Image... all these buffs to defensive strength that really augment what you're doing as a frontliner martial build. I've found that losing out on a few points of HP as a Fighter is often well worth the exchange of having access to stuff like Shield and Absorb Elements.

One of my favorite characters that I've played so far was a Valor Bard/Champion Fighter. Basically she wanted to be a bard, but in order to pay her way through bard school, she became a gladiator. She gained such a following that when she eventually did quit the arena to play her hammered dulcimer, half the crowd at her gigs only showed up to see the mighty gladiator, get drunk, and then challenge her to a fight. Word got around that her shows turned into bar brawls, and she couldn't make a living being a bard, so she went back to fighting to pay the bills. Not only can she take and dish out some serious damage, she can also heal party members and give them inspiration. That inspiration wasn't through song, but rather through WWE-announcer style introductions. As a valor bard, her inspiration added to saving and attack rolls, but also to damage rolls as well. She would play her dulcimer for Songs of Rest like "Eye of the Tiger" or "Pirates of the Caribbean". My favorite thing, though, was that she had a little talking doll that was basically a miniature version of herself that sits in a little harness on her shoulder and heckles her while she fights.

Actively playing a fighter/sorcerer and the key is the sorcerer side supports the sustainability of the fighter. Use shield and absorb elements as your go-to spells. This also gives a damage boost early with booming blade and green flame blade. You can invest a little more in sorcerer to use the "blade" spells to weaponize your bonus action via quickened spell. This stays relevant after the fighter gets an extra attack. If you level up 1 for 1 in each class you get a better spell progression than Eldritch knight. It's not a big damage dealer but it's hard as hell to knock down.

I think that the Charisma Casters+Fighter are actually kind of underrated. I don’t think any are below A-Tier mostly because of just how powerful a single Fighter subclass synergizes with nearly all of the Bard, Paladin, Sorcerer, and Warlock subclasses. The Battle Master often flies under the radar as being a generalist, but with one particular maneuver it can truly fly with the giants, and that would be Rally. Normally a mid-tier maneuver due to drawing heavily on Charisma, a usually low stat for fighters, but when paired with a Charisma caster it all of sudden becomes very powerful and if used correctly, can basically give you a slightly weaker version of Inspiring Leader. You can still choose 2 (or 3) more maneuvers at level 3 to bolster your fighting abilities, but in general just adding Rally to your Battle Master/Cha-Class multi-class adds so much additional support that you can focus on whatever niche you want to fill. Onto a personal experience with one, I went nearly level for level with a BM Fighter and Clockwork Soul Sorcerer (went 1-1 to start and then 2 straight Fighter) and it actually stayed really strong through my level progressions and made that character very flexible in multiple roles, often being able to fill multiple at once.

Man, I think fighter/sorc is slept on. The fact that you can quicken nearly any spell and still have your whole fighter turn is insane. With a 5 level dip, you can quicken haste and then use your hasted attack in the same turn. Same goes for other important buff spells like mirror image or even simple damage from magic missile. A high enough charisma can make insane use out of hold person. There's something to be said about the subclass abilities being less impactful than something like cleric, but sorc at least deserves a B if not A imo.

Snap cast magic armor to doff and spike our movement speed from 25 to 35 to catch buggers trying to running away from our grappling selves. This is lvl 12 peak DnD, stats now 18 Str 13 Dex 20 Con 8 Int 13 Wis 10 Cha if you continue on you end up with a split of Fighter 12 Monk 8 and can use Step of the Wind to FLY while in our ARMOR and out of it, action surge for 6 attacks, flurry of blows for 2 more. Skill Expert (Athletics Expertise, Performance, +1 Str) and ASI puts our end stats at 20 Str 13 Dex 20 Con 8 Int 14 Wis 10 Cha. For the fighter/wizard build, I’d actually go fighter 12/wizard 8. That gives you the same number of overall caster levels, but it nets you an additional ASI. Also, no. Fighter is oatmeal. It makes for a decent meal on its own, but it’s a little bland. It needs a little something extra, but it’s easy to find something it mixes well with whether it’s raisins, berries, maple syrup, cinnamon, peaches, apples, or whatever you want to add to the basic chassis of the fighter class.

A full caster doesn't really need a martial-focused subclass to pair well with the fighter because the fighter already has that angle covered. Fighter 8 gets you 3 ASIs, extra attack, and a pair of (potentially) potent subclass features. So if a caster can add decent 1st and 2nd level spells that don't care about caster stat (so buffs and defensive spells, mainly) and that benefit a martial in some way, then you'll be just fine taking a 1-3 level excursion. To that end, Bards get Feather Fall, Silvery Barbs, Aid, and Mirror Image; Druids get Absorb Elements, Healing Word, and Spike Growth (which is especially nice when placed between the enemy and your ranged party members, potentially including yourself); Warlocks get Armor of Agathys, Hex, Misty Step, and Shadow Blade; and Sorcerers get Silvery Barbs, Shield, Absorb Elements, Misty Step, Mirror Image, Spider Climb, etc. Of the 3, I think I actually prefer Sorcerer, but I'd be willing to play any of them

Flavor is free, y'all need to remember to ask yourselves the two big questions when doing these multiclasses- what does your class need, what does the new class give? The number one answer will be either armor and shields or the shield spell. Fighters are already martial, and Eldritch Knight gets shield but other subclasses are available and so Shield still has worth. The big thing is fighters make lots of attacks and have minimal control outside of specific subclasses and so that's what you wantfrom a multi Fighter, more damage per attack and some form of control. Artificer is unique because you are a full caster at 1 and a second level caster at 3, but with a 13 Int you can only prepare 1 spell at level 1, so it's Shield OR Absorb Elements until 2. Infusions are more than just a +1. Mind Sharpener(not great on a fighter) is Legendary Resistance for Concentration. Repeating shot is excellent for hand crossbows and if you don't mention in the Rogue video that mechanically Wilhelm does not work without repeating shot or DM buy in I will be disappointed. Meanwhile Armorer gives one of the few soft taunts in the game or can erase Stealth penalties from armor if you're into that. Bards do not get Shield but Expertise, Enlarge/Reduce, and Enhance Ability are nice for grapplers. Be a Rune Knight Bard, grapple the dragon. Druids are more than just Wild Shape. Remembering Spores exists is a good start, but the teleport on Wildfire is bonkers. Still niche for fighters due to armor nonsense. Sorceror is how your Charisma fighter gets Shield and absorb elements. Metamagic, Misty Step, and Enlarge/Reduce at 3. Plus a lot of subclass features at 1st level with Favored of the Gods being a standout. WHAT DOES MY HEXBLADE FIGHTER GET? Crit on a 19 from hexblade's curse and Short rest Shield spell. Other subclasses are available. Genie adds extra proficiency damage to one attack, which can be combined with crusher to add forced movement to ranged attacks. Having a super familiar or a stack of cantrips and Ritual Casting isnt bad either. Hex is nothing to sneer at on a fighter and the ability check penalty can help grapplers.

I think Artificer actually does pretty well with the fighter, B or low A, and here's why. Too many of the Fighter subclasses need a good intelligence stat for their saving throws, but they end up MAD as heck. They also lack utility outside of combat. Artificer fixes that issue. An ideal multiclass hits its stride by level 7 at the latest. The important milestones of the fighter happen at levels 2, 3, and 5: action surge, subclass power boost, and extra attack. The artificer gets infusions at level 2, but the real boost happens with the 3rd level subclass power surge. So start with custom lineage or human variant and then two levels of fighter, and get 16s in Int and Con, with a 14 in dex. Focus on two weapon fighting or crossbow expert (+hand crossbow). You now have two reliable attacks by level 2. Next, take Artificer to level 3 and choose a subclass that attacks with Int: armorer or battle smith. By 5th level, you have two attacks, a good attack stat, cantrips, utility spells, and infusions. Then take your 3rd level of fighter and grab a subclass that uses Int: eldritch knight, psy knight, or arcane archer. From here, dump every ASI into Int and never have to worry about choosing between good attacks and useful subclass features. By level 8, you've obtained extra attack and can switch to the stronger weapons if you want. From there, you can take Artificer to 6 or 9, or take fighter to the place that you want. Among these 6 combinations, you will probably find 3 that are pretty effective.

Also Candy Bacon & Vanilla Ice cream does work and is quite delicious. ( but only the thick cut) the salty of the Bacon cuts into the sweetness of the Ice cream. Best way to describe it you're hanging out with someone who is the complete opposite of you, you think your going to have a boring time. Turns out you had a blast and a wild adventure. That's how I would describe the taste.

One of favorite episodes so far. You guys cracked me up for the entire video. I’m not a multiclasser in my game play, but you’ve got me interested in adding a little bacon to one of my next characters.

The warlock is going to be the toughest one because of how customizable they are and how much two warlocks can differ even if they take the same subclass
@absolstoryoffiction6615 Жыл бұрын
For a Fighter/Warlock, I would probably either lean in on Fighter or on Warlock. Focus on Invocations and Spells which don't require Checks too often. It's an Eldritch Knight style of build.

@@absolstoryoffiction6615 eh if you can unlike the EK you can afford the char boosts to make casting strong.

@@mattcurnell2545 Dex Chr Fighter/Warlock then spam Con is the idea. The sad truth is... Str is NOTHING in 5e. Unless you like Great Swords and do Str related stuff, which isn't better than what Spells and Dex already offers on top of a +5, at 20 Dex.

I think the druid dip can be very useful depending on your table. 2 levels of druid gives you wildshape which is the ultimate exploration and scouting tool. May not be a huge in combat bonus, but gives a really good bonus out of combat!

If you read any of RA Salvatore's new books Drizzt is mixing his warrior training with monk and its beautiful. It would be nice if they allowed the blend a bit better in the game.

Monty's enthusiasm for weird builds, Kelly being relatively down-to-earth to keep it balanced, and discussions about how the fighter is the bacon of DnD 5e makes this a PEAK Dungeon Dudes discussion video 10/10

My character that I’m playing right now is a level 5 blood hunter with a 2 level dip into artificer. The repeating shot infusion on two hand crossbows let me talk to my DM about dual wielding them, channeling the demon hunter from Diablo 3. I feel like that same dip with a fighter would be brutal.
@Awoken0 Жыл бұрын
It wouldn't, cause you can't shoot with both hand crossbows as they're not melee weapons.

@@Awoken0Crossbow Expert would let you shoot your second crossbow with your bonus action
@Awoken0 Жыл бұрын
@@maidofheart2000 you'd be making the same amount of attacks as with 1 cause an extra one doesn't add anything. With 1 hand crossbow you could make 3 attacks cause of CBE and with 2 hand crossbows you're making the same amount of attacks. CBE lets you shoot one hand crossbow you have in your hands as a bonus action.

I think with the monk y’all kinda forgot about the Unarmed Fighting Style. There’s some major synergy there.
@Shadowrendx Жыл бұрын
Oh absolutely. Now imagine once the fighter levels get to 11 and then you make 3 attacks, plus at least two more from flurry of blows. That’s 5 attacks for 5 rounds straight. Then if you action surge on top of that? Chefs kiss 🤌🏾

Very validating to hear great role play potential from my current chosen character the rune Knight artificer mix, so far it's set for battle smith but I thought about looking into an alchemist and being a melee/ support main

I think artificer dip overall may be a C, but it can be amazing if you’re going classic hand crossbow. A 2 lvl dip gets you repeating shot, making your hand crossbow magical, a +1, and you don’t need the freehand for reloading, granting you a shield and 2ac bonus and as a minor, your crossbow now becomes your spell casting focus

Taking a level of Nature cleric gives you the fairly obscure option to make a Wisdom-based Fighter who uses Shillelagh - I've been meaning to make a Samurai with a quarterstaff that mains Wis and makes great use of that proficiency in wis saves and adding Wis mod to Persuasion checks.
