i dont know when you play this next, but i can recommend the trident. it has decent attack speed and a big attack range. later you can mod it with ice dots to inflict slow on enemies. do you know you can upgrade your turrets with mods? in build mode click on your turrets and click the middle symbol of the five that pop up. additionaly, have you looked into the available mods for the game? some are pretty nice and dont change the game dramatically, like increased pick up range, or a booster to energy generation at increased build cost. or scanning equipment you can research and equip in armor slots to passivly scan around you. it depends on how much you want to change your game =) i also increased the storage capacity for my resources. what i didnt realise was it affected the ammo storage too... so i now have a couple thousand bullets and rockets for my weapons, which might not be for everyone^^

In the start of the game you can take care of those "eggs" really easy. You place your 3x Lightning Turrets around the egg, then add some mines and some freeze turrets. This makes all the eggs possible to do.

That's a good point, I never really tried doing any prep other than making sure I could run somewhere away from them :D

Big hint... In regards to the volcanic area i strongly suggest you research the acid spraying gun. It will make your life SO MUCH EASIER in terms of building in that area. I won't say anymore to avoid spoilers. P.s you might have to actually go to the acid area to be able to research the acid gun i cant remember...

I had started to wonder if there was going to be some rough rock paper scissors sort of thing going on with those first 3 regions

I didn't realize Exor sponsored you to play this, that's awesome! And I will agree that it's better to play the campaign before survival mode, because the latter is much faster-paced.

Yeah I have been really lucky that they've sponsored me twice now - can't complain getting sponsored stuff for games that are properly fun to play :)

@@Flipsie And if it's any consolation, one of the pro-level players of this game I follow also complains when chat votes for negative events, even if they do it nearly all the time!

Really enjoy watching you play - and get swarmed - in this, did expect a few more Mech explosions but, maybe next time? Just by the way - if the warnings for things like storage being full get annoying, you can turn select ones off in Audio Settings (Specifically, full storage, among some others. - Getting constantly told to build more storage is irritating as hell...)

If you liked Total Anihilation what about "Supreme Commander / Forged Alliance" its old but i think the Community Project Forged Allince Forever is still running 👍

I played a decent amount of SupCom but for me Beyond All Reason does a better job of scratching that itch, with bonus points that it's free so it's easy to get someone unfamiliar to try it out :)

Two hours in and you haven’t exploded. Nice. I’m also worried that just having one outer wall is going to cause major grief if a breach happens and the aliens start chewing on your creamy centre.

Finished it. Very good run and I think chat only activity tried to kill you twice and failed both times. I don’t know why but watching this game is like catnip to me. Even though (especially?) because it’s often too much work to play myself

I'm glad you enjoyed watching it, you're right about the risk with the walls, though I've found that the enemies will often move along the walls attacking the next turrets rather than jumping past and going for my base, or at least, that's what they do for long enough for me to get there in my suit and sort it out :)

I’d noticed that. The density of the defences mean you need a much bigger breach before the aliens can start hitting soft targets. So long as the walls create enough friction (clauwitz, drink!) the attacks shouldn’t penetrate far enough to do serious damage.

@@Flipsie - I think the waves aggro towards headquarters or outpost as they spawn in, but then they aggro the closest point to them, so you can safely leave shockingly large gaps in the defences and it doesn't matter - if there's enough stuff they can occasionally pour around the defences, but with the AoE some towers are capable of I don't find that happening anymore. Essentially it's not necessary to have an entirely enclosed base - I like to for aesthetics, but some parts of the wall just never get any action because of how the aliens aggro. It's quite satisfying setting up choke points within the terrain, making the enemy numbers irrelevant and maximising the AoE of my towers - especially railguns with their piercing, enemy density just makes them better.

I agree I found it a lot more fun playing the campaign as well. Well except I'd love to mute Ashley, no offense to the voice actor. The script is cringy.

Yeah the campaign is much more fun, it's a pity with games like this that there's always a point where the main character barks will get to you :D

As much as I still enjoy Survival, it's definitely far more enjoyable having multiple outputs set up giving all manner of resources. I was initially struggling to set up power in the underground area, but because I already had a volcanic outpost set up as a garden (geothermal's have double output, 4 cultivators per powerplant) I was getting loads of plant biomass; that outpost is currently giving me 22 per sec, currently 255 days into this game and I'm sitting on 3.28m of it.

I think Space Engineers has to get that title, I've played it more than anything else and it has legitimately changed my life for the better. But other top games would be Total Annihilation, Deus Ex (the original one) and Baldur's Gate (pick any of them) :)
