I liked this episode! It had me on the edge of my seat ! And I knew what happened on the August 1943 raid. To fly for hours knowing any minute will be your last shows extraordinary courage. I wish they could make a mini series about bomber command and the Augsburg raid in August 1942. Lancaster bombers flying in broad daylight across Germany.

Enjoyed the podcast. Thanks guys! I was severely disappointed by the first 2 episodes. I felt the lack of character development, tension and rushed battle sequences were a huge detriment. However, this show really takes off in episode 3. I was on the edge of my seat. The bail out scene where the guy is trapped was heartbreaking. Keep up the good work!

I am amazed how you, and so many others, fail to understand what went on during that time for the 100th. There's not much character development for many characters because they DIED in reality, early on in the campaign. Only 23% of USAAF bomber crews made it through the war without dying/being captured in occupied Europe and made POWs. The real guys in the 100th didn't get to know many of their fellow airmen very well!

So many viewers just don't UNDERSTAND the events and why it's shot they way it is. The ignorance of so many about the events, and the way those guys had to live, is shocking. Anybody who has served in the military will know exactly how accurate it is, even now 70 years later.

The series has got progressively worse for me. I don't buy that you honestly rate this episode as highly as you claim. And I don't think anyone else does. This took one of rhe blackest days in rhe eighth aie force and turned it into a computer game. Throwing in as many explosions and falling fortresses for spectacle. Even the trapped ball turret gunner scene was thrown away by ending it with a big explosion no emotion im the series. Compare it to the loss of mother and country in Memphis Belle. A genuinely moving scene. Not like this garbage. Irish pilot trying to save his co pilot lets end it with a massove over the top cgi explosion. Terrible series

Have to disagree on the ball turret scene, there is definitely anguish as he realises he will have to abandon Baby Face. His coming to terms with this comes up in the next episode. As for the video gamey-ness, that's kinda what it looked like up there. All the reports and diaries describe it as chaos. Thanks for listening and as always opinions on these things are welcome.
